  1. yeah sorry mos_eisley, kind of got distracted by the thought of 132 spartans! I would spare you some, but ive only found 2 myself!
  2. Good post, i completely agree! Calling the kid an idiot and saying this is Darwinism in action is extremely harsh! Everyone on this forum has choked on something at somepoint in their lives, these things happen. As you say the kid hardly inhaled the lego on purpose. I use my lips to hold spare pieces and if something were to make you jump im sure i would inhale a brick as well! And this is hardly legos fault either. There are a million things out there that a 5yr old could choke on, its just one of those things. I just hope the kid makes a full recovery.
  3. my guess is that "well" is such a popular word used on these forums that there are too many results to be displayed. I tried searching for "and" and "the" and the same message came up. Have to let a mod clear this up for sure but i reckon if you search using more specific terms you will get a match. Though i appreciate that will be quite hard for well
  4. 132 ?!?! thats nuts! has that just been through visiting shops or is it a bricklink job? I hope your going to open them, post a picture when you do. It will be like 300! Just need a few million prince of persia minifigs for the persians
  5. uh oh, that sounds bad. I struggled enough with the first one! I even found the right thread but couldnt find the picture for about 10 minutes
  6. advent calendars now appearing in UK. http://www.brickset.com/news/article/?ID=855
  7. You can definitely see the switch in your opinion throughout the review! I've experienced the same thing. There have been sets that i thought looked dreadful going by the pictures but have picked them up once ive seen them in the flesh!
  8. thanks for the review ! I was only building this set last night. I agree with the comments above, nice parts pack but the model isnt up to much. Not going to last long on a shelf display! but the minifigs are great, as are the ostriches ! Glad i picked mine up, it was on the cheap along with the other pop sets.
  9. Nice Moc, standout for me is the oil as well. I like how the skeletons emerge from the lake covered in oil, great idea ! Can see why this would be difficult to photograph, but its a shame a couple of them are blurred.
  10. nice review, i didnt have this set but had the bigger basketball court and football pitch. My parents are childminders and they are very popular with the kids, can do 1v1 or 2v2. Nice selection of parts as well. You mentioned about the baseplates not being too useful, a couple of months ago on here someone posted an amazing moc of a futuristic mining plant that had these baseplates as the facade and they looked great! Here is the eurobricks topic and here is a closeup. Well worth a look! dont want to know how much they were to bricklink all those!
  11. raided wh smiths for minifigures 4x surfers 2x spartan 1x witch 1x skier 1x pam 1x weightlifter 1x mime Would have got more spartans but these were the only 2 left from 3 boxes ! Also had my first ever bricklnk order arrive. Its for a moc involving series 2 but im not going to divulge what it is yet. Might be useful in the upcoming comp!! Seriously impresed with bricklink though, think im at the top of a slippery slope....
  12. nah i didnt get a box, just posting what someone reported. Cant remember if series 1 was uniform or whether there was variation in the boxes. What went wrong with your ebay purchase?
  13. thanks for the review, looks like a great set in its own right, regardless of the advent calendar part!. Might pick one up to extend the MMV. Surprised you gave it such high scores, the tone of your review suggested you werent exactly enamoured with the set
  14. ah well, thats a shame. As you say, might be able to blag it on the day. If not 20% is still a good saving, and the purchase will still go towards more VIP points for next time !
  15. Thanks for the heads up :) sounds like a good deal, worth saving up some money and getting some big sets to make use of the discount. I think i will go for the fire brigade. 20% off plus my vip points i've saved up means i can get it for 60 quid- bargain!
  16. This is probably a completly inane question but ive been wondering this about bricklink for a while now. Judging by the amount of new parts on there, i assume people buy sets just to sell for parts on bricklink. Is this right? If it is, do people make any profit in doing this ? Just seems to me there must be a tiny profit margin for parts, especially considering the time and effort it must take to buy the sets, inventory all the parts, list them on bricklink and post them to the buyer. I would be genuinely interested to know whether people make a living off bricklink!
  17. Do you guys have a john lewis nearby in coventry ? The one in Southampton (and bluewater!) had series 1 just on the shelf so you could pick them out pretty quickly and not bother anyone at the till. Hopefully they will do the same with series 2 when they get them.
  18. yeah they were behind the till in the one i went too as well. I would have missed them if i wasnt purposely looking. They are behind the tills in most places, the packets are pretty nickable! it is better when they are just on the shelf as you can get what you want without getting in the way at the till! Luckily the shop was about to shut when i went so i could have a root through while the store was quiet. The guy behind the till took an interest as well, he said the staff had been trying to figure out what was in the packets and was amazed by the cheat sheet i had printed out! He helped me pick out what i wanted and asked if they could keep the sheet for other customers !
  19. Got a few songs on repeat at the moment Brad sucks - making me nervous Brad Sucks - dropping out of school BOB and girl from paramore - airplanes Dr Dre and snoop dogg - next episode. Cant get them out of my head!
  20. nice review, wouldnt mind picking one of these up. Where abouts in tescos were they ? i checked my local one but couldnt see any.
  21. Southampton, brickset alerted me to it at first, quite a few people saying they have found them http://www.brickset.com/news/article/?ID=844
  22. Minifig series 2 finaly in the uk ! WH smiths have them
  23. yeah same, i havent entered anything on here before so will hopefully get involved with this one!
