Yeah but the point he is making is that the crossbow is far easier to use. A longbow would take a lifetimes worth of practice to master as the draw strength was ridiculously high (maybe up to 200 lbs). The training required to be able to draw that kind of force, then fire accurately and repeatedly was long and tough. The crossbow on the otherhand could be mastered after a weeks training.

yeah i'd prefer a few bows in the new sets as well. They are still producing them as the robin hood minifig comes with one!

i agree, thats why i really love 7946 as its a modern take on the classic castles.

great review ! Not really a fan of this set. Dont really know what its supposed to be ! The tower thing just looks jumbled, just two burps with pieces piled on top! The catapult/tree thing is also weird. I guess im a fan of realism in sets and this doesnt have too much of that ! The minifigs are great though. Do you have ay of the other dark forest sets ? Would love to see those reviewed too.

yeah, thats the way of the world these days. Read an article about lego and how it nearly went bust a few years ago! It was during my dark ages so wasnt aware of it. I guess you just assume lego is something that will always be there but it is still a business. i would rather pay a bit more and for there still to be lego rather than them go bust!

what are you building out of interest ?

seems like you have already made your mind up and just want some justification I would say it depends what you do/ want to do with your lego. What do you do with your city collection ? it sounds strange you saying you dont want to collect sets from a line that wont be continued. I dont see that its continuation would make any difference, or if anything it would be the other way (ie collect them now as you might not get a chance in the future).

Could i join as well ? Already done one review but have spotted loads of gaps for reviews of sets that i own. Would be good to do those reviews justice.

yeah its pretty stingy. I think the days of getting 4 horses with a castle set (eg Kings Castle, Black knights castle, black monarchs castle ) are well and truly over :( There were 5 horses (and 4 minifigs) in this set and it was only a wagon !

I really dislike this set. I really dont know what its trying to be, just looks like a load of brown and black pieces chucked together. Easily the worst from the forthcoming kingdoms line. Only redeeming feature is the minifigs which are good, but imo isnt worth the money. Thanks for the review though !

I dont think it was just the paint job. Germany had armoured trains with AA guns, tank loaders and Howitzers ! Would be interested to see what you come up with Larry !

Sorry to rake this up again but has anyone got anymore news about how long this set will be out for ? Trying to scrape the cash together to buy one of these and a MMV. I live quite a way away from a lego shop so dont want to waste the trip, but im away both these sets may not be around for much longer...

Just went into tru and used holodocs barcodes to pick out the ones i wanted (caveman, skater and forestman). Luckily the till the box was placed at was shut so i could rifle through the boxes without any funny looks! A kid and his dad came up and grabbed a couple, i offered them the barcode sheet so they could find the ones they wanted and they declined ! I dont think the kid would have been patient enough. I saw on ebay earlier some people selling PDF's of the barcodes for 99p which is pretty poor really. Bet they have just taken someone elses hardwork.

Great review, cheers for showing us this set ! I had a couple of space police sets when i was a kid. Will have to pick up a few of the new sets for old times sake! I agree with you about the district 9 reference. Some of those stickers are very similar to the imagery used in that film.
