And back: Pretty standard pirate box, the background is very similar to many of the other pirate boxes. The back shows a number of mocs that can be made using this set. The front of the instructions is the same picture as the front of the box. Random instructions page Nothing too difficult to be found in here! Instructions Back: And the back of the instructions showing a few more mocs, which is always nice for ideas. The minifigures This set came with 4 minifigs, here they are from the front: Two redcoats, the admiral and a pirate. Notice the admiral doesn’t come with a plume which is a shame. He has a plume in the other sets he appears in (Imperial trading post and the Imperial flagship) but still it’s a great minifig with a nicely printed torso and white gloves. Interesting parts Nothing too much to write home about here. These are fairly standard piratey parts with the exception of the spear and the blue cups. The cups do seem slightly out of place, perhaps more at home in a camper van! Nice to get a base plate as well, something the newer sets seem to be lacking ! The rowing boat Nothing new here but you can never have too many boats! One slight let down is that it doesn’t come with a small flag, which most other sets seem to! The rest of the parts (slightly sorted !) Apologies about the black tray I sorted them in. Nice mix of pieces and colours. Only one burp which isn’t too bad. Also notice that none of the 4 wall pieces are printed which is disappointing. The printed walls really add something to the sets they appear in. The finished model Front Back As you can see there is quite a lot going on in this outpost. There is a dock, a tavern a jail and a sand outcrop with palm tree on the first level. The upper level has an office for the admiral and a cannon platform. The upper level provides an observation platform for the outpost. There are also ladders that provide access to all the levels, something missing in a few pirate sets! With the minifigures. The admiral watches over his outpost with the pirate safely in jail. Features: Hidden treasure The flap lifts up to reveal some treasure below the floor. Rolling jail bars. The whole jail front is on a hinge piece so can swivel out of the way. Note that the hinge should be white but the ebayer I bought it from had replaced it. Story With the pirate safely tucked away in jail, the redcoats enjoy a well earned blue cup of rum after a hard day at work. Little do they know the pirate has managed to find a way to get out of the jail. By the time the redcoats notice its too late. The pirate is getting away with the treasure, whilst the redcoats feel the effects of one to many cups of rum! Above the admiral goes ballistic from his tower. There could be a court marshalling in the morning…. Conclusion Design: 7/10. Overall a nicely designed set with some good features. Seems quite open to be a fully fledged fort, and there is a lack of battlements which makes the outpost term more suitable! The set is quite high which is good. Minifigs: 10/10. Cant really ask for more in a set of this size. You get a pirate to lock up and two soliders to guard him. The admiral is a very nice and detailed minifig. Parts: 7/10. Not really any unique pieces. I imagine most pirate fans could re-create this set from parts they already owned. Quite a few small pieces which are useful for mocing but it’s a shame the walls aren’t printed. Build: 7/10. Fairly standard build, not many interesting techniques used. Took around half an hour. Playability 8/10. Quite a few nice moving features and there are lots of small rooms with different functions. A nice number of minifigs and the boat add to the fun! The baseplate also provides lots of options for making other structures. Would benefit from an animal though! Overall 39/50. A nice set overall but not a must have from the pirate range. I imagine most collectors/fans of classic pirates could build this set from other sets without much trouble ! The minifigs would be a great addition to a collection though so I would recommend picking this set up if you can find it ! Thanks for reading !

really good moc. Using the bush as splintering wood is great ! Maybe you could have a cannon ball coming out of the end of it ?

nice review, i know im late to reply but i havent been out of my darkage long lol ! When i first saw the 2009 pirate line, i wasnt that impressed. Seemed quite <insert that tiresome argument> and the sets seemed small considering the price. I was trawling ebay the other day though and saw one of these sets going cheap so thought i would buy it (picked it up for £13 !). It has definitley won me over to the new style. I really like the design and the minifigs. The way the ships ribs are made is great and i like the new bricks lego have made (this is my first set since about 1998 so lots of new pieces for me to discover!). The printed torsos front and back are very detailed and the printed faces and expressions add alot. As i said, this set has converted me to the extent i have ordered a cannon battle, kracken attacken and loot island set. Still not convinced by the soldiers fort of the brickbeards bounty though. Might get them if i can get them on the cheap

that MOC is great, i especialy love the bed. Its amazing !

Great review, thanks for adding it. The pictures are really nice. I had this set as a kid and really liked it. As you say, its good that such a small number of bricks can make such a large structure. I also loved the bluecoat, he was the only one i had as a kid (sorted that out when i came out of my darkage !! ebay is great) I think this set is still in my old loft, these pictures are making me want to go and dig it out ! And@ ZO6 i can see where you are coming from with the comparison to the 6253. I think its because there isnt a base plate or any land based pieces, its literally all the ship. I still really like the set though, i think its the best of the 2009 line.

Not really, you can be excited about a theme returning but still disapointed if it doesnt match your expectations. Personally i think there are a few good sets in the 2009 line, but overall it isnt a patch on the classic stuff.

hey, only just come back and read your message. This should be my 10th post now so send me a pm and we can sort something out!

nice MOC, very violent !

thats cool, i cant see myself selling the set, so the box is just taking up space. If i could get that much for a box then it would take alot of the hit i paid for the whole thing in the first place !
-
I just bought a set with the box but to be honest i have no use for the boxes. They are nice to look at but after that i have no interest in them. Thinking of putting it up on bricklink but im dubious as to how big the market is. do people buy boxes just on their own ?
-
yeah im abit unsure as to what all the ranks mean.
-
yeah its always a bit of a risk with ebay but not many other ways of getting hold of the sets ! From the photos it looks in decent condition.

good review. Just bought one of these off ebay so i cant wait for it to arrive ! Got a complete one with box for £70 including postage ! thought that was a bit of a bargain !

this was my first set I remember getting it for christmas one year and loving the pieces i hadnt seen before. Like the rope bridge, printed base and rigging up the mast. Also really liked the blue imperial soldier, thought that was the coolest minifg i had seen. Since i came out of my dark age, this was the first set i bought. closely followed by many more !!

Thought i would add to this thread seeing as i have just joined ! As a kid i was a lego fanatic. Had all sorts of sets town, pirate, space, castle, technic etc. I remember pouring over the catalogues and wishing i had every set in them. I didnt really play with the sets, just enjoyed building them, then breaking them up and building them again ! Only had 2 lego sets which were good but wasnt too fussed about them, the castles were my favourite by a long way. The only ones i had were the forbidden island and skull island I remember going round my cousins when i was about 10 and he had the Imperial Trading post set up on his floor. I remember thinking it was the biggest and best lego set i had ever seen !! I remember him telling me i could have it but that never happened ! :(. This was around 1998 and the pirates had been discontinued so i couldnt get hold of any imperials. I slowly drifted away from lego and didnt think about it at all for years and years. Then a couple of weeks ago i got invited to join the YOUR OWN LEGO MAN group on facebook. If you havent heard of it some art student is writing the name of people on the back of 1million lego men ! I was bored when i joined and decided to flick through the pictures on the group and saw a lego pirate minifig. It was like someone had flicked a switch in my head and that was it. I started looking up lego sets on google and came across Brickset where i set up an account and listed how much lego i actually had. Then i remembered the trading post on my cousins floor and looked up the pirate lego and its all come flooding back ! Since then (about 2 weeks ago) i have spent a small fortune on pirate lego sets on ebay. I've bought 6257: Castaway's Raft 6258: Smuggler's Shanty 6259: Broadside's Brig 6260: Shipwreck Island 6263: Imperial Outpost 6265: Sabre Island And two BSB's !! Its been great building sets i havent built before. All they are doing is sitting on my desk. Im not really interested in doing my own MOC's ( though i've been amazed at what some people have made on here. They are truly stunning creations!). I just like how whenever i get bored working at my desk, i look left and there is a BSB sitting there standing proud ! My flatmates think i am mad and its a bit childish to collect lego, though looking at the community built up here i think they are wrong! I dont think too much about the 2009 pirate theme. I think one of the reasons i went off lego was because the pieces were getting bigger and bigger and the sets easier to make. Then all the bionicle rubbish came out which was all my local shop ever stocked. The new pirates are alright, but in my view not a patch on the old stuff. The only exception is the 10210, thats amazing and i am trying to justify the 140 quid cost ! I really want to collect one of each classic pirate set, think i have got a long way to go but i will get there.
-
To be honest, i didnt really plan to get 2 BSB's so i reckon i will sell one. Im assuming i would get the best price on bricklink, how easy is it to sell items on there? Doesnt seem like the most user friendly website ! Or i'd be up for swapping one for another pirate set such as 6276 or 6277, though i doubt i will find anyone up for that !

Thought i would resurect this thread as my question fits in pretty nicely here. I bought a BSB the other day complete with instructions for £60 ($90) which i thought was pretty good. Then yesterday i saw another complete BSB going for £30 with a day to go on the auction so not thinking too much i put a max bid of £35 pounds on it. Just logged onto ebay and i won the BSB for £33 ($50) !! So i now have 2 BSB, picked up for less than £100 ($150). Im assuming that they are both pretty good deals ? Im pretty new to buying lego on ebay. I thought the first one was fairly cheap but i couldnt believe i would get another one for half that !
