Hey ! Thanks for sharing Joris :) I planned to present it a long time ago, and well I never did. Now I don't have the spirograph with me but Joris managed to recreate it perfectly This version is quite like an achievement for this project as it works really well and uses only one M-motor to draw (it can work 3 times faster than in the video with less than the power of a M-motor, still drawing fluently. The limit is more likely to be the pen ^^). Next improvement, maybe, would be to use the new circle quarters of the BWE, but I won't be able to try it before months. Of course, feel free to try it, this is a community build now :) I'm glad that you like it !

Adjustable Spirograph

Salut Clément ! Happy to see you there and thanks for your answer ^^ In fact, the right one was only the V3. It wasn't able to make the drawings that the V5 and later can create, but yes it was quite fast. The main differencies between V5 to 8 are the pure performances of the versions. V6 had the same than V5 with some additional features (which failed because the vibrations were too important). It had plenty of possibilities, it was fast but was vibrating constantly and needed too much power to work properly (anyway the plastic axles and beams did'nt like this episode ^^). The V7 solved the vibrations problem, had a lot of drawing possibilities but still required a lot of power (1*XL) to work well. (My goal is a spirograph working perfectly with only 1*M motor) The V8 finally solved the power problem, but sacrifying the number of possibilities (you can only choose the number of "petals" of the drawing, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 or 12 ; that means only 10 different drawings. It also has an interesting new technology of drawing board, with a big intern gear made with 16 gear racks that increases precision and reduces the torque in the mechanism. I'm always looking for a version having the qualities of the V6, 7, 8 and not their problems :D -

The fifth is done for a long time, see the first page ;) I've already built the versions 6, 7 and 8 but I have really no time nowadays to publish videos or reviews (like any student in a mechanical engineering school, I don't have so much time for me and I prefer spending some time to build than to publish... However I still take some pics and vids of my MOCs to publish them later :) ). Something will probably come in almost a month and a half :) -
Yes, but at which scale ? I use the 8421 wheels and I ordinary use a little variable camber angle, no caster angle (because of too much friction with the McPherson suspension so I use a double wishbone system), and a pseudo-kingpin inclination (the steering respects the kingpin inclination but the suspension only works following a vertical axle). It's quite difficult to respect all the criteria well with 8421 wheels and FWD. Some solutions exist to have the caster angle, which helps driving straight ahead, with a correct geometry and ground clearance. But none have still satisfied me.

Hi ! The LDD file (the previous link is broken) : https://www.dropbox.com/s/qskfqojh2usf05n/Spirographe%204-2.lxf?dl=0 -
Definitely, but I'd add suspensions which are useless only on a perfectly flat ground. And the most important thing is for me the front wheel drive to make the model a bit playable, especially with 2 RC motors, because even with a one-RC lightweight model it is impossible to drive straight ahead with RWD... To my mind 4WD are not necessary but, to have tested, the performances are a bit better, one RC-motor by axle makes the car turn (steer ?) better at high speed than two RC-motors on the front axle. A gearbox will only make your drivetrain less efficient, you'll not have a better top speed because the RC motors don't have enough torque to accelerate more.

Thank you all ! I'd have liked to better support the 32l axle, but the problem is that this axle isn't really straight. So, I'd have had to guide it along the whole length, which would have been quite ugly and would have probably overpassed the parts limit for this contest...

Hi everyone ! I'd like to present to you a new creation for the 23rd Techlug contest, it's a telehandler. It has 4 wheel steering with HOG and a working steering wheel, and a gearbox (Erik Leppen's system : http://www.techlug.f...topic1099.html) with 4 features : - Stabs - Boom lifting - Boom extending - Fork (or bucket) tilting The goal : to make a fully functional and easily playable telehandler, which can be motorized adding the lego technic 8293 power functions pack. Here is the video (in french with subtitles) : Pictures : LDD file : https://www.dropbox....telehandler.lxf Hope you like it, and if you have questions, just ask, I'll be happy to answer !

Inverted Old Trike

OK, I thought you saw a LEGO one. Yes the Honda is very similar to mine, much moderner, however :) -

Thanks ;) I just unbuilt it in order to design a better version, but I don't think i'll make a 3wd one because of the gear ratios and the place taken by the battery... However, nice idea for another MOC ;) -

Thank you everyone, you're right the front of the Messerschmitt is really similar ! EDIT : to Zblj1987, I used sometimes the proportional controller (especially at the beginning), sometimes the normal controller :) -

Thank you everybody ;) Video : -
Hi everyone, today I am going to present to you my most recent MOC, it's an inverted trike with an old design, and motorized with RC and servo-motor. I built it to improve the way how a small RC takes curves at high speed and accelerates. So it has two wheels on the front, with drive and steering and a single wheel on the back. It also has full independant suspension. I'll make a video soon, just need to find the time :)

[WIP] What should I build from this?
PG52 replied to Dion's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I remember that some busses use that configuration in Austria... It's an unusual concept, interesting ! -

Exactly. To have a good precision when you place the arms, you could maybe use the mechanism with a screw on a differential, and input and output the entries of the diff'. -
[WIP] Pajero Pinin
PG52 replied to piterx's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi, very interesting project ! As all of yours Piterx. The gearbox looks very compact compared to classic gearboxes. I think that the original creator of this type of gearbox control is NFL77, a french MOCer : http://www.techlug.fr/Forum/topic6787.html? -

Usually, I use a bigger wire, but that solution could work well : try to use 2L axles to support the 2 wires ;) -

PG52 replied to Blakbird's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hum, you are using a 2L pinaxle without friction to hold the 40t, right ? On the original model, I use long axles which gives a lot of stability to the arm. The problem could be from here. But it is also very hard to obtain good drawings with the technique you are using ; maybe you should synchronize the rotations of the turntable and the 40t gear ; because the ratio 8t/TT is 1/7, you can't obtain it with classic gears so eversything is completely unsychronized... I have to say that I never tried to do that. Another french technic MOCer, who gave me the inspiration for spirographs, has done it : http://forum.brictec...hp?f=114&t=5425 (in french) -

1963maniac, I choose to use 40t gears exactly because they run with precision ; you should post pics of your modifs if you want us to help you, because I didn't understand what you exactly mean ;) -

Glad you like it ! And thanks again to the EB team for the instructions ! P.S. V5 is still built, I have another projetcs now and so few time to build, but I keep it to build the 6th when the inspiration comes back ;) -
I'm very happy you like my gondola ! Here is the last video at Fana'briques 2013 : If you want to see it in details, you can watch the other videos in this playlist : Some of them show the 7th version nearly finished (90%) with still big problems, unfluent run, etc. The ropeway is here running at its best. However, some problems sometimes happened and I plan to build a 8th version which would correct them :)
