I have counted 2 currently for sale on eBay. Both are still sealed inside the small white polybag. One is a regular auction and still running (price has gone over $100 already, will be interesting to see where this one ends up), the other one is available at just $250.00 with buy it now but the seller is willing to take offers. This 10190 could be the last set ever designed by Erik Brok. Today, I went to a small Lego convention and people told that he has a terminal form of cancer. I do not know him personally, but I heard that he is about 35 years old. Cancer at such a young age... tragic.

I especialy like the way the seller has opened the little white bag it came in. Appararently he was in a big hurry. :-/

Basically, if this is true we will see a Johnny Thunder minifig with a Han Solo head. :-D And I thought that Lego was having financial trouble because of those licenses they paid for... :-|

I happen to own a couple Islander sets and some loose parts such as 6278 / 6292 baseplates and some loose Islander minifigs. For me they are nothing more than add-ons and a sub-theme, probably the way Lego intended it to be. The female Islander torso makes an excellent figurehead for a ship by the way. X-D

The torso thing can be tackled by printing and using the one in the Library.

I went to Germany past weekend and the new Hogwarts Castle hit the stores there as well. I saw it in the Legostore in Centr-O Oberhausen and at Galeria Kaufhoff. I did not pick it up and got the blue 7661 Jedi Starfighter with Hyperdrive Booster Ring + 7993 Service Station instead as these were higher on my wish list. :'-)

Is this perhaps a desperate attempt to attract attention for the auction in order to get outbid by Lego pirates fanatics after finding out you might fail to meet the seller's payment requirements and want to avoid negative feedback for not being able to complete the transaction? :S After all, you mentioned that you bid on the thing yourself and there is only one bid on this auction. And you wrote that you have no PayPal or credit card access. Fingers crossed someone else will take over. 8-( -
I do not agree. This is a heavily defended harbor with no prison while Lagoon Lock-Up is a small prisoner's island.
-
Mine would be the 6277 Imperial Trading Post. I think it is generally speaking nicer than 6276 Eldorado Fortress (mainly because of the pirate and merchant minifigs and the added merchant ship) except I prefer the blue soldiers over the red guards.

I recently sold a 6268 Renegade Runner complete with the original instructions (no box) for $50. Average price I think.

6038 Wolfpack Renegades is one of them. -
10181 Eiffel Tower this August confirmed by reseller !
jamtf replied to agrotic's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I would not mind that much. It is on the way and confirmed. And reading your recent reviews, you still have plenty of bricks to play with. :-D And you seem to be the first to have every new set that is due for June or August anyway! 8-o Must have to do something with the jedi force... -
MINI-FIGURE REVIEW: Pirate with Blue Striped Torso #3

I think this guy's face is also used for the Sheriff in western sets and as one of the dark forestmen. That is how common it is. Of course, you can always exchange minifig heads to get more variety in the crew. All in all not a bad minifig, one of the ordinary buccaneers among the first pirate sets introduced in 1989. He is not my favourite and perfectly expendible but let's face it, no pirate ship is complete without this guy. After all, the Black Seas Barracuda and the Skulls Eye Schooner both have this crew member on board. -
I just got 9 loose shako's off eBay for

Aquazone and since I am not a fan of that, they all go in my pirate collection. :-D Alpha Team sets sometimes included red and blue hooks that came with Ogel minifigs.

It is made of reinforced emerald. X-D

Quality is comparable... Cobi is from Poland, Lego is nowadays mainly produced in countries such as Czech Republic. That is why Lego is having problems, things do not seem to work and especially the delivery of the 2006 Star Wars sets such as 6209 and 6210 is on back order since things were not running as it should and they needed concentrating on the new line of sets that were announced to be available in June (Castle and City) and August (new Star Wars) of this year. This is also the reason why people are complaining about colour differences in new Lego pieces (i.e. the reddish brown bricks in Cafe Corner). Lego's machinery in Eastern Europe is not running properly. I heard this from a retailer who complained about Lego not being able to deliver the quantities he needs.

Here are some first shots of the crew I am working on. Remember this is still work in progress but they do look different compared to the original Lego pirates. The black pirate in the white shirt with the neon green hook is Captain Blingbling (he did not settle for a grey hook but wanted something special). The brown hands on the black pirates are missing, they have been purchased on BL but are still underway. In the background you see my 6289 Red Beard Runner ship.

Might be. Fact is that there are some similar colored cutlasses for sale on BrickLink. I just checked. Could it be that those sellers are selling clone brand pieces thinking that it is genuine Lego?
-
Do I see a metallic silver or pearl light gray cutlass in that picture? Where did that came from if I may ask?
-
If you think it is more "savvy" for people to understand what is meant with this thread feel free to add a description to the title. As I said, I am still working on mine, I am awaiting the arrival of some parts and I am doing some fine tuning here and there just to be sure that the figs look the way I think is best.
-
Well, troops are merely soldiers and armies consisting of many of the same type i.e. imperials or clone troopers / storm troopers for instance. I do not want to see that since I am not interested in generic figs with a different face. 8-( What I want to see is different pirates, not armies or soldiers but different designs of PIRATES. Perhaps some people have been very creative by making new minifigs from different parts of other Lego lines and maybe we can get new ideas by seeing what others have done. 8-o Is this explanation clear enough? :-/
-
Well the title says it all actually, let's see what variety you have in your pirate crew. Do you only have the original Lego pirates with no alterings or do you make custom pirates by mixing parts such as faces, bandana's, headgear, torsos, legs from other themes, etc. I am currently awaiting the arrival of a few parts to get a better variation in my crew. I will even have a few black pirates to crew my ships.
