They cost
-
I work near a C1000 store (only 100 metres away and I am inside the building!) but have not checked if they have them. I learned about them today and will walk in there tomorrow and see if they have any. Also, I am not sure how much they ask for these but C1000 is one of the more expensive supermarkets in our country. On the other hand, this is only a side product for them and I can not imagine they will rip off customers with these small sets. How many of each do you need and would you want me to help you out? Sealed... hmm not a problem : )

http://cgi.ebay.com/Lego-Pirates-6277-Impe...1QQcmdZViewItem Considering this is a used and built set, it is surely doing a whole lot better than the new one that sold for only $122. I cleaned my used example today, pieces are currently drying outside. I purchased it in 2005 (I think), built it back then to see if it were complete and never got to cleaning it until today. Fortunately, the bricks and pieces are in very good condition. -
Buying Pirate LEGO - where to buy, advice, tips and questions
jamtf replied to Mr. Smee's topic in LEGO Pirates
If they still exist (i.e. if the builder did not disassemble them), it might be hard to get them, providing you can find a way to contact the builders. If you are looking for ready made ships, I suggest you go to eBay or bricklink.com and search for the following ships: 6250 Cross Bone Clipper (small pirate ship) 6268 Renegade Runner (another small pirate ship, bigger than 6250) 6271 Aramda Flagship (navy ship with small hulls) 6274 Caribbean Clipper (a navy ship) 6285 Black Seas Barracuda (first really big pirate ship) 6286 Skulls Eye Schooner (largest original Lego pirate ship ever made) 6289 Red Beard Runner (last pirate ship) 6290 Pirate Battle Ship (remake of 6289) 10040 Black Seas Barracuda (remake of 6285) Lego does not currently have a pirate line and those ships mentioned are older official Lego ships made between 1989 and 1997 except for the remakes which were made around 2001. Each ship has its own set of instructions which are usually part of the set. If not, you can find them at the following website: http://www.hccamsterdam.nl/brickfactory/setlist/index.htm All you need to do is search for the numbers as mentioned above and you will get perfectly understandable instructions for official Lego released pirate sets. And with some extra pieces, it is quite easy to modify or expand the original models into ships that have that little bit extra.- 502 replies

So I noticed! Congrats! And you are welcome about the heads up. It was admittedly a lucky find, since I was only looking for 6277 sets and the 6086 coincidentally was there too. Enjoy it Gyl! If properly described and advertised, these sealed 6086 sets tend to go for $300 or more. -

You can always ask if the seller is prepared to ship accross the border although it is not sure that the seller can still be reached so shortly before the end of the auction. He or she might be away from the computer. Or you can take the risk of them not being prepared to ship and bid anyway. Whatever the case, I think this will bring more than $120. I would guess it will sell for at least $150 - $175. Anything less than that is a steal for one of the most wanted and sought after big mid 1990s Lego pirate sets in unassembled condition. I just found out the seller also has a 6086 Black Knights Castle new in box. Would be nice in a package deal... -

Even an opened and used copy of the same set has been bid up to $102. So strange that this received so few bids until now. The other sealed one (see the eBay stores section) costs a little bit more at just $399. I know about the biddings in the last 10 minutes. Let's see for how much this one is going. I got my 3rd copy of this set this past week, I purchased it in the UK. Mine is in same condition as this one, opened box (in worse condition than this), but set is unassembled and everything is still sealed in the original polybags and the plastic inlay tray. My used copy will be built in a couple days. I look forward to doing that again since it is one of my all time fav Lego pirate sets. -

I just found this on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/LEGO-SYSTEM-IMPERIAL-G...1QQcmdZViewItem New and unassembled with opened box and only bid up to $51.00 at the time of writing! And only 3+ hours left before the end of this auction! Unfortunately, this apparently is a US only auction... :-/ -
I think I would have to decide between 6057 Sea Serpent and the 7018 Viking Ship. First one because it is brick built with lots of useful bricks and 5 minifigs, the last one because of the old style hulls in reddish brown and its load of useful pieces. I own all of them except the Aquaraiders Shipwreck, Skeleton Ship Attack (I guess no one owns this set since the official release date has been announced for September), Fire Nation Ship and the U.S.S. Constellation (I had it until a few weeks ago but sold it to a friend of mine who fancied it more than I did X-D).

8-( - sail configuration does not look any different to me, perhaps the light fall or photo angle might make things looking differently - the flag thing has been mentioned... by me X-D but should not be the main issue here since it is such an easy change... - different waves... hard to tell since the first photo is taken from behind and the second one is taken from a different angle... plus the ship may have been put on the waves differently at a later date... Inspiration... it would be VERY, VERY hard and extremely difficult to make the same ship again and to get it to match the one on the postcard in so much detail... I am not convinced and still think the ships are basically the same. And the "white" underneath is definitely old grey... don't you guys have old school castles?
-
Actualy, it looks the same and the white underneath looks more like old grey. If you look at the 2nd photo, there are some faint grey lines and the ship is also a bit turning sideways (i.e. it is not "straight" on the water, see the photo) and also the blue flag on top, colors and building style of the sterncastle and the brick built blue and white water scenery looks exactly the same. Only the flags on the back of the ship seem to be different (the ship on the postcard has a plastic jolly roger flag and the others show a black and red canvas flag from the 6289 Red Beard Runner).
-
Yes, so it seems but it ain't such a great decision to take care of things the way he does. He should have divided it into at least 10 - 20 lots to have a better turnover and to attract people to actually bid on the items. The sets - as they once were - might be not that great but I would be interested in a couple of parts for sure. Seems that this lot contains parts of the 6277 Imperial Trading Post (judging the tan sails) and 6286 Skulls Eye Schooner (seeing the black and white triangular sail + the white panel with jolly roger pattern).
-
The seller would be better of selling in smaller quantities and put rare items in lots with items that do not sell that easily. I reckon some people are ticked off by the huge shipping fee and the procedure involved to get this packed and forwarded. By selling in smaller - assorted - lots, shipping will be much more affordable and people will be less reluctant to bid. Also, by making smaller lots, you can see exactly what you are bidding on. Now, it is a matter of guessing what is still there and what is not and hope for the best. 8-|

Could be Mister Phes. By the way, congrats on procuring that sealed 1729 Barnacle Bay last night. You got it for a good price (off topic I know). And if you are running out of tricornes, I would rather use the blue pirate rag wrap or a hairpiece on a ship instead of shako's.
-
Last things I purchased were: - a few imperial soldiers, a governor and red admiral - a white window frame with yellow latticed windows (fits 6286 Skulls Eye Schooner) - baseplates for 6276 and 6277 and some red and green cannons - some parts for completing my 6274 Caribbean Clipper including a missing sail :'-) - 7143 + 7204 (MISB) - 7200 + 7204 (MISB) - 7119 (MISB) for

I guess they will be put in the newest sets such as 7660, 7661, 7662 and the yet to release Sith Infiltrator set. Lego has put every effort in the newest line and is more or less neglecting the older sets since for them the new line has their top priority. Lego will discontinue making the 62xx line of sets soon and they already have trouble coping with the demand for those. All I hear is complaints about Lego not being able to supply what has been ordered by the stores. The 6209, 6210 and 6211 are already hard to find in stores, you will still find them occassionally though. The 6210 has been on backorder for a long time at Lego.com and I doubt that more will be made. My guess is that if they can deliver at all, they will only have a small supply of those left. The 62xx sets probably won't make it till Christmas. At that time, the 76xx line has taken over the SW line of products. The Trade Federation MTT will replace the Imperial Star Destroyer, the Jedi Figher with Hyperdrive Booster Ring will either replace the Sail Barge or Slave I and the Naboo Fighter + Sith Infiltrator will replace the B-Wing and Y-Wing. And there will be a new AT-AT, so Lego has a bright future of new sets that they can use for the new gold C-3PO.
-
On a ship do not use shako's! These are meant for infantry soldiers and soldiers defending a fortress. Look at sets 6274 and 6271 for instance. Only (admiral) bicornes for the higher ranked officers and tricornes for the sailors. You could use black top hats for the lowest ranked men and the workers / cannoneers on the ship. At least, that is what I would suggest.

I noticed it of course. But the figs are both new. I truly wonder how these were discovered though. Did the sellers buy multiple random sets hoping to hit one or more or did they struck gold by coincidence... makes you wonder doesn't it? And in what sets were they in? Were they most likely found in the expensive sets such as Trade Federation MTT or did they also occur in the cheaper sets such as the new Naboo Fighter? Whatever the situation, none of them is supposed to have a C-3PO as part of the set. The only one with it that is part of the current line is the 10144 Sand Crawler which is not available in regular toy stores (I don't know aobut the US though). I guess this is irrelevant and the gold guys might be dropped inside any set. I also wonder how many boxes the sellers had to tear open before they found it. 8-|

I got my 7009 Final Joust yesterday and I must admit it is a great small set. I bought it as a "filler" so the seller only had to give back

http://cgi.ebay.com/Star-Wars-LEGO-C-3PO-L...1QQcmdZViewItem Excellent price for this piece count... and this might have been in a $10 randomly purchased Lego SW box... X-D only available to US customers... 8-(

Best way to ship overseas (from USA)?
jamtf replied to dunamis's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I always ask for sending per USPS as that has always worked for me. Since they have changed things as of May 14th I do not know if this is still the best and cheapest way to send parcels overseas. I tend to think that courier services like UPS, Fed-Ex and DHL are still much more expensive because of their fast + reliable service. Things might depend on the size and weight of the parcel you need to send. It could not hurt to ask for quotes at several carriers or check the internet for online shipping prices. For small packages and letter post, USPS is an excellent choice. For large boxes you will need to do some more investigating. -
I happen to have a spare set of original 6268 Renegade Runner sails that I am willing to sell or trade. If anyone is interested in acquiring them, please send me a PM. P.S. Mods, please do not move this to the buy and trade section since they do not NEED to be sold, I am only willing to help out Pirate Lego enthusiasts who are by coincidence looking for these.

How very true! I did not even notice that at first since I only "concentrated" on the water levels. Higher rockies and cliffs... Since I do not own a complete 6276 Eldorado Fortress I can not compare it with that set. And my used copy of the 6277 Imperial Trading Post is currently packed away and too much trouble to retrieve... :-|
-
Here is a picture of the 2 loose baseplates I found today: One indeed has the high water, the other has the lower water level. My guess is that one once belonged to a 6277 Imperial Trading Post while the other might have served a 6276 Eldorado Fortress.
