  1. Check this out: Steve available for $9.99 (+ postage) |-/ Another rare minifig would be the bare chested tatooed pirate with brown vest that is in the Red Beard Runner set. I do not have the set nor the fig but I do not care too much about it. I refuse to buy the ship since I do not like the design and the features at all. Maybe some day, I will get the fig just for fun. :-/
  2. There is a Steve available for under $10 but I would rather buy the set with Steve in it! I always thought that "Steve" was the first mate or helmsman if you wish of the Skull's Eye Schooner. Although I like the Black Seas Barracuda better than the Schooner, I must admit that the Schooner has a slightly better minifig variety.

  5. For me it was Hownblower the series and of course Pirates of the Caribbean.
  6. The web (espacially US eBay) tends to get crowded with knock off sets usually from Hong Kong. Most of of what have seen for sale is castle related and slightly modified from the Lego sets. I have seen 6044 king's carriage and 6046 hemlock stronghold knock-offs for sale at less than $15.00 MISB. Their original boxes were quite identical to the original Lego boxes. They were from a brick brand called "Enlighten" and were said to be Lego compatible. I would never buy such things, not even for collecting purposes. :'-(
  7. The end of the saga is that the set went to Belgium since the seller offered it with a $800.00 buy it now option to the underbidder with the alias bajo-ve. This is a lot indeed, but seriously the set including the box is unharmed and in pristine shape. There is none available on BL at the moment and this set was last offered in 1987 I think after a 3 years production run. It will get older and rarer for sure, since each MISB being opened is one less in existance. Perhaps another one will turn up sooner or later in just as good condition. Oh well, on to the next! P.S. I agree that this Asian NPB is a genuine dick head. *skull*
  8. You could at least have asked the store keeper or one of the shop assistants what the deal was with the loose bag and ask if it would be OK to take it or pay a discounted price. The 4750 has been on clearance sale here in The Netherlands for about $5 a piece. Last time I looked they were all gone. I think you could have had the one bag for let's say a buck or perhaps for free if you explained things. That is what I would have done.

She needs to track them first in her attic and then there is the payment thing she will be expecting: 6248 Volcano Island (1x MISB pending) 6264 Forbidden Cove (1x MISB pending) 6296 Shipwreck Island (1x MISB pending) Mind you that most of the above sets are European sets (except the bonus packs and 6204 Buccaneers) and that the ones with cannons are the shooting type versions. And of course I also have many pirates and soldiers that were purchased separately without bricks etc. As you can see no 6267 Eldorado Fortress and no 6286 Skull's Eye Schooner (edit: I got one now!) included although I will get them some day sooner or later. I refuse to buy 6289/6290 Red Beard Runner (still do) since I do not like the design. Same goes for the smaller ships such as Renegade Runner, Cross Bone Clipper, Caribbean Clipper and Imperial Flagship (edit: but I changed my mind and decided to go out and look for these as well since I already completed the challenge of finding the 2 big ships in MISB condition). I have made an exception for the 6280/6291 Armada Flagship / Spaniard Ship since I like the colour scheme of these. I would say, it is a start... :-)
  10. I only have 6765 MI(S)B (box seals broken) and 6764 MISB (re-release of 6755). The first one was purchased last year in the UK, the latter was bought couple weeks ago as new old stock in a Dutch toy store! Unfortunately, both are European "Western" versions, something you do not want. Do not forget that the European sets such as Legoredo and 6765 have the shooting cannons which is a premium. Good luck with the search. By the way, I am new here (European) and I happen to like western sets. It reminds me of the Clint Eastwood movies from the early 1970s and of course the classic Once upon a time in the west.
