  1. Nah, already have one and owning just one is fine. I got mine for free as a gift you see... still sealed also...
  2. For those of you who have not seen it yet, here is a rare opportunity to acquire a rare MISB Lego pirate set, the 1788 Pirate's Chest with the original cardboard chest like box: http://cgi.ebay.com/1788-Lego-Pirate-Treas...1QQcmdZViewItem If you ask me, the box is the most important part and its style and design is unique to this set.
  3. Samurai Warrior 5 Classicness, -3 Technology, 3 Team, 6 Aggressiveness Your results: Classic Low-tech Goodguy Warrior Found in: 6083 Samurai Stronghold, 1998 My test tracked 4 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender: You scored higher than 83% on Classicness You scored higher than 58% on Team You scored higher than 16% on Technology You scored higher than 79% on Aggressiveness Now I must start collecting Lego ninja and samurai themed sets...
  4. I have been told that the Lego Viking line will be shortened by mid March. They will discontinue 7015 Viking Warrior vs. Fenris Wolf, 7016 Viking Boat, 7017 Viking Catapult and 7019 Viking Fortress. The toy stores got the last run of sets this month and they can no longer be ordered. Some got a very short production run. Same thing happened to 7785 Batman Arkham Asylum. Introduced in 2006, already sold out and no longer part of the line. The 7018 is the oldest set they will keep in the line together with the 7020 Viking Army and the 7021 Double Catapult. Not sure how long they will last, probabty at least until the end of this year. I do not know if they will introduce more sets but the 2007 catalogue only contains pictures of the sets they made until 2006. And of course there is still the Viking Chess Set (exclusive to Lego shop at home, Lego stores and very few exclusively chosen stores that are allowed to sell these, I located some Lego KKII Chess Sets in a Vedes toy store in Germany last year for instance). The 7015 was on sale in the Lego store a few weeks ago. Needless to say, I am now hunting down leftovers in shops ;-) Seems that they are still available through Lego shop at home though.
  5. I like the Volvo in Swedish colours! X-D
  6. You could have handled those last few orders and then close the shop down. Then, you could have opened it at your convenience. By refusing to complete orders you have built a negative reputation that is - reading your explanation - not the way things should have turned out. Buying for $8000 worth of Lego. That is impressive, even for my standards. What did you get for that money?
  7. I happen to own a copy of the set... and a pair of loose safari doors.
  8. Since some Eurobricks members would like to buy bounty boats off the topic poster, I think it is fair to tell they should know there is a madoka on BrickLink who got his store ABCB Cafe suspended because of 3 completed NSS (non shipping seller) alerts. I am not saying that it is the same guy but the BL member name is the same for sure. 8-| :S :-/
  9. And why does the ship have (at least) 4 captains? I guess that those 3 with eyepatch are in this case not to be considered the most important men on the ship however, perhaps the Baron Von Barron one with the spyglass forcing the Spaniard to walk the plank is the real commander.
  10. See this auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/LEGO-PIRATE-SHIP-RED-B...1QQcmdZViewItem Looks like a modified and enlarged 6289 red beard runner to me.
  11. And perhaps the minifig heads and beards can be used to make an alternative crew for pirate ships. The rest is purely castle stuff if you ask me.
  12. Inteesting design. Do not know if it has been posted or mentioned but the rowers in the first set of pictures... should they not sit differently (backwards), I mean the ship's bow is upfront (of course) and if the rowers start rowing, the ship would most likely be moving backwards or am I mistaken? Anyway, great design.
  13. Looks like everything is a bit inspired on Lord of the Rings. A king's castle being threatened by an evil wizard with a flying dragon and a horde of undead skeletons (instead of orcs) at his disposal. We will see what castle 2007 brings, it certainly looks a lot better than KKII but so far wel have not been able to see a genuine set of the new castle line. Lego seems to be mixing up parts from other themes as well (Ogel's face from Alpha Team for the evil wizard, the king's head is actually a viking head). Also, lots of new parts such as the skeleton horses and the weapons. They seem to have produced trainloads of white horns (see the evil castle and the evil carriage). It looks promising and I am anxiously awaiting the first release of sets. This looks like an interesting follow-up for sets such as 8813 battle at the pass and the 10176 king's castle which were encouraging new sets.
  14. Yeah, great review and great pics. I have an incomplete Clipper in my collection (the only one I have!) that needs rebuilding. I managed to find the sails but mine are not as good as the ones on your ship, brickster. My imperial flags and their clips are OK though. I always wonder why Lego put less cannons on ships. This is a good example but also look at 6289 red beard runner. I mean, it has 3 cannons! Why 3 and not 4? Besides that, the ship can hold a total of 6. Why did TLC do that? Was it so expensive to add a few more. Does it have anything to do with Lego wanting to sell more loose cannons or more service packs or so, I don't know. Is this supposed to be an attempt to mislead the enemy by leaving the flaps closed and to let them believe that there is a cannon behind each flap while there is not? Anyway, congrats on a great review.
  15. If this needs verification and confirmation I would be forced to rip open my sealed copy of 6264... And that is what this thread is all about! :-D I have a 6278 enchanted island (1994 first release, not the 6292 legend) with broken seals that did not have this poster. It could have been taken out by its former owner since seals were cut or perhaps it never came with it. Only found the instructions and a service pack leaflet. A huge set like that should include the big islander poster. :-||
  16. I can't keep up listing each new purchase. Over the weekend I got a 6298 red beard runner (again) and a 6296 shipwreck. Yesterday, I received a sealed 6250 cross bone clipper and a used 6267 lagoon lock-up with box. Come to think of it, I criticized the 6289 before for being a bad ship (it still is compared to 6285 and 6286), well believe me, the 6289 is great compared to 6250 which is a disappointing little ship with green hulls. Best parts are the crew but they came also in other sets which makes the 6250 actually an obsolete set to own.
  17. Phes, in fact there is one for sale in your neighborhood so to say. The seller is Australian: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lego-Poster-for-Pira...1QQcmdZViewItem If I did not have it, I would have taken a shot at it but I have a copy. Does anyone know if this came with a certain (large) set such as the SES? That ship is pictured in the back so it was made around 1993 / 1994 I would think. I hope I did not spoil the soup regarding your "opportunity to procure one" by openly giving these details.
  18. Size and value. An opened 1747 or 6235 for instance is not that much less worth than a sealed copy. We are talking less than $10-$15 price difference and that does not sound like destroying its value when you decide to open up the set. Furthermore a smaller set can be easily replaced if necessary since there are still quite a few around I suppose. It will be more difficult to replace a sealed 6285 or 6277 for instance. 8-|
  19. Well, I can not choose between "need to be preserved" and "depends on the set". Opening up a sealed 6235 or 1747 would not be such a problem for me, opening up a sealed 6285 would however be out of the question. Fact is that I do not need to open any of the sealed sets I own, so I do not have to argue with myself about it. My opinion is therefore a bit "scattered". At least, now you know what my opinion is and it was not that hard to share.
  20. I did not cast a vote either. I think this should not be voted on. There is no such thing as being right in this case. Everyone has their own opinion and I would like to see it that way. A matter of personal taste and consideration. Do as you please so to say, open it or leave it as is and be happy with your choice. :-$
  21. I have a couple MISB that I want to keep as they are (sealed) for I have plenty of used sets, figs and parts from the Lego pirate series. There is simply no need for me to open them since if I want to build, I can simply take the used sets and the bucket with spare parts and figs and take things further from there. If you do not have much to spend on Lego and stumble accross a small or medium size sealed set I can imagine people opening them to add the set or scene to the rest of the (built up) collection. It depends on the size of your collection and how you look at Lego in general whether you would want to open the sets. Everyone must decide that for themselves. It simply is a matter of perception and financial capacaties as well, I would say. Basically, Lego was meant to be a building toy but I happen to know quite a few AFOLs who like to treasure their sealed sets and preserve them in exactly the same way they found them.
  22. They are a unique piece that only came with the 6296 Shipwreck Island set.
  23. You may be right there Phes. MIB sets are the ones that are never touched but with broken seals, correct? ISB would mean that the box is still sealed with unused parts but in bad condition or damaged / shelf worn, am I correct asuming this Phes? There may not be 1000s around but we must not forget about the ones that are not yet "found" and the ones that currently remain in people's collections. And of course, there is the eBay auctions and perhaps even more sources that we simply forgot. Anyway, I think it is nice to own a pristine set (does not necessarily have to be sealed, since MIB with box seals broken but box in good condition is OK for me too) that is still in the same condition as it left the factory, especially if the box is in equally as good condition. I respect anyone else's opinion in this matter but this is how I think about it. No bite marks, no other damages + no missing pieces and excellent instructions + all catalogues included. Can it get any better than that? Hardly.

Very sorry to say that the ships do not "catch me". As much as I liked the Imperial Harbor, I think the building style, colour scheme and use of sails for each ship you created is well, inferior to the quality of the harbor which is an excellent design. Dust is no object in this matter, I just think the design should be more thought over and the ships rebuilt, perhaps using the CAD program.
  25. I think I found a way. Check this link: http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?viewFr...rchSort=P&sz=10 Done through the search engine and filter down to all pirate sets in new condition. It sums up a total of 352 lots (at the time of writing). 8-o It includes however the 4+ line of sets (verified, see last pages) and perhaps even the Duplo ones although I did not check the latter.
