42056 - Porsche Speculation

Designers are looking at this and thinking "Dang it, I knew we shouldn't have done it in brown!" -

Well both the box and the guy demonstrating it said that it's the pneumatics that were upgradable. -

That's not really colour vomit. Colour vomit is the colouring if pins, gears, axles and so on (also strange colouring of beams so they only have one colour of 13M beam, one colour of 7M beam and so on) to prevent mistakes whilst building. But no matter what colour the model is, you have blue and tan pins everywhere, bright red, tan and gray gears everywhere, it looks like random fleks and streaks of colours that don't fit with the model have just been vomited all over it and it looks horrible. I get it for the smaller sets for younger children, but when you have a near 4000 piece kit, or a Porsche designed to look good and be built by 16+ adults, surely it's kinda silly to continue with that sort of childishness. Heck I didn't want or need it when I was a child! -

I think it's the same tractor but with a different attachment. This is looking at the tractor from the rear, you can see the steering mode lever. -

I wonder if the new pump will be used as the motor compressor also, or if it will come with an extra Arocs style pump. -

Ooooh nice! Thank you The dark blue and the metallic grey (silver) look great. But the green? Wonder if they could do a metallic dark blue or metallic dark red? Hmmmm -

White would be not too bad now that I see your mock-up. Red not too bad, black looking very good, but not purple. I think those secondary colours like purple, orange, any shade of green or teal just wouldn't look good on this car. Could you try a dark blue and a kinda gun metal grey to see what they would look like? -

Ah, good point about the massive rear wing and the roll cage. -

I'm not expecting one. I guess it would have to be another Porsche. -
How many tamiya cars do you have with a 6 speed flappy paddle transmission? Whilst I am not a supporter of Technic being RC when it is simple and trying to compete with other products that do it better (like 42030, there are many kiddies RC toys that can compete with that), I can get behind Technic sets being RC if it is being used to remote control something that is already great and complex in it's own right. An RC crawler with no gearbox, no fake engine and so on is quite boring. But add RC to something that is already highly complex and has no real competition in anywhere near the same price point as it (like the Arocs for example or a supercar with a life like sequential 6 speed transmission and so on) then it's all good.

No, I mean the new wheel arch part. Looks like it uses 4 on the front (two outer and 2 inner). -

They have pendular suspension, like 42030. -

Anyone else notice it has 6 of the new wheel arch pieces? -
For me, I really like the dark classy look more than the bright and loud racey look. With class and style, there is no need to scream and shout "LOOK AT ME" with the bright colours. It just knows you're already looking at it because it's gorgeous! It's suave and sophisticated, then you put your foot down and holy crapoly! It's like a classy lady at the party but a freak (in a good way) in the bedroom. That's why for me it needs to be a dark colour. Sexy and effortlessly so (understated).

As much as I really like and will definitely get at least one (probably more than one) I would also have liked to see some kind of drive train for the wheels to a motor or fake engine. Would have been a great opportunity to get planetary gear reduction wheel hubs. -

So really Porsche should be paying Lego! -

It's likely done by limiting how far it can go and allowing a white clutch gear to slip when it reaches the end of travel. -

I really hope this car is NOT all motors and no 6 speed transmission type of thing, like 8366 supersonic RC but with a cool looking body and an adjustable steering wheel! Unless they chose to make the antenna out of a cats whisker and move it around the car as it turns, that's just a seam in the background artwork. -

Looks like that to me too. -
There just seems to be an overall change, the overall feel of the Porsche, the new massive and very life like tyres of the tractor and it's many steering modes, the impressiveness of the BWE and the pneumatics of the volvo, it all seems like a large shift in our favour. Not that we haven't had stuff aimed at us before with the Mercedes sets, but this feels different, a bigger and more global shift throughout every 2H set. I love it! my wallet hates it but screw it!

I don't think this will be your average flagship set. With all the secrecy and the 16+ on the box, the overall look of it is telling me this is going to be something very special. It's hard to know for sure or to form an opinion just yet because we can't see ANY of the functionality. But I am very excited and at the very least I can see those awesome new wheels that we've been asking for and something about it's look just says it's going to be something very special.
