  1. Yup! I'm going to need some red bull I think.
  2. I thought there were clips visible on the other side showing that it is attached via the outer edge, as opposed to the current one which is only help together by the inner edge. if it is held by the outer edge it would make it a much better turntable.
  3. Now this is how you present an opposing point of view. Thank you I feel that Technic could do very well financially if it was to aim as much for adults as it does to kids, just like Pixar movies doing much better financially than movies aimed just for kids. Personally I do not agree with your crayon analogy because we are not talking about Lego Duplo but Technic.
  4. Modding something yourself to make it more accurate can only take you so far. There comes a point where you really need more true to life parts. I am not aware of a helicopter being made by Lego that is mechanically accurate, or any kind of construction machinery as the vast majority of them have a planetary reduction stage within the wheel hub. Most trucks that have sprung suspension use leaf springs which is something I've never seen in an official set and I've never seen an official car set with a mechanically life like gearbox. I do not feel that pointing out these things is a bad thing or equal to complaining. Whilst there may be other threads like his, there are many more new voices with this same feeling. Would you like them to keep bumping older topics? More mechanical authenticity is something many of us would like to see and is the main thing that draws us to buy and build Technic in the first place, and if TLG take inspiration from our ideas and wishes then all the better. I think to mock those that have a different opinion by suggesting purposely silly ideas is small minded, petty and immature. Just because someone has a different view does not make them wrong.
  5. Oh man. May good luck rain down upon you! And yeah, we are excited and impatient. I haven't had that feeling in a long time for a Lego set so I'm gonna keep it
  6. Excellent. I am really looking forward to it. Thank you very much
  7. Of course, for me the star of the show will be those new pneumatics. I would really be grateful to see those in detail. May I ask that we get to see a detailed comparison of the new pneumatics with the old? I would love to know if they can hold as much if not more air pressure so we can see if they are as powerful if not more powerful than before. Also would like to know if the pump and valves have been upgraded. Oh, and I'de like to see the new turn table and how well that performs structurally. Oh, and the new telescopic pieces. Oh, and if there are any other new parts that we haven't seen yet.
  8. Gonna have to pull up an armchair in front of my computer for Conchas' live build with beer and snacks. At almost 2800 pieces it's gonna be many hours. Also wonder what time on Wednesday Sariels video review will be up.
  9. Usually about the same time Sariel releases his video reviews, so in about ten days from now, hopefully.
  10. If the turntable isn't geared in some way via a worm drive (which would be really slow and tedious to play with) the torque of the drive shaft powering the tracks could cause the upper structure to rotate. I'de say it was fine as it is but if you want to improve it then a ratchet system for one of the tracks would be the best way IMHO, or if you want to over complicate things a direction sensitive switcher like the one used in the 8094 control center crane model might be a useful concept. Here's a link to Blakbirds technicopidia page of the model. scroll down to model 4: http://technicopedia.com/8094.html Now, instead of having the two outputs of the direction sensitive switcher going to two different functions, have them both going to the left track. Gear both outputs together so that whichever way the input turns, the output turns the same direction. send that output to the left track. Then send another drive to the right track that by-passes the direction sensitive switcher so that it will change direction with the input. Is that clear as mud?
  11. Yup. What DrJB said. For the studless era I'de go with 42029 pick up truck.
  12. For me it's finishing it. I build the technical functions but before I get to the body I usually think of something else I want to build and loose interest in the current project.
  13. Looks like the pneumatic ports are redesigned to be thinner near the end, perhaps to make it easier to push the hoses on? This change is also visible on he valve. Wonder what other changes have been made.
  14. You mean like this? Sadly not the return of being able to see the parts under the lid I don't think. The large flagship Technic sets have always retained the lift up lid for more pictures (except for years 2003 and 2004) however the last set which allowed you to see the parts under the lid was the Silver champion if I remember correctly, and that was only partial.
  15. I think we all could do great things with them, can't wait
  16. Well, I can't speak for him but I would think that he wouldn't be using these very much for LPE engines. He doesn't use all of the stroke of the current cylinder which gives him more speed but less torque, which is good because most pneumatic engines have an abundance of torque but very little speed. Having said that, a large scale beam engine would be pretty sweet. They don't go very fast and you could use the full stroke.
  17. Can't wait for this one. Also can't wait to see what people do with those lovely lovely cylinders  .
  18. Is this the first clear box image? http://www.amazon.co...d_bxgy_21_img_z Edit: Apologies for the size. do you want me to make it smaller?
  19. For a fairground ride what about a top spin or swinging ship? They would have some simple programmable functions. Or instead of an animal what about an insect, like a quite large, killer looking all black 8 legged scorpion with working arms, claws and stinger. Interesting thing about the top spin is that I don't think it uses a motor to spin the carriage round, only the arms are motorised though the carriage rotation does have a brake. At least that's how it looks to me. You can hear a hiss of air every time the carriage brakes are released. Could also have working safety bar thingys.
  20. What about a fairground ride, an animal, or something more random like a really tall, old style elevator with working floor indicator dial inside the lift car, or a clock, or a space shuttle, or....well I think that should keep you busy .
  21. Old ones aren't that bad really but the new ones are definitely better. EDIT: Oh and I'm loving all these updates, like finding an oasis after being in the desert for years
  22. Well, not always. Some front end loaders have hydraulic motors but many have differentials. Aren't you lucky to have us know it all's!
