  1. Yes, too busy and what I got then was just a 2megapixel camera. Idea was good at that time and got better camera now. AC PS. Makeover completed!
  2. Thanks, better late than never! Now go see the latest one... AC
  3. The underlying theme of the scene was there but the execution may not have been the best. Come to think of it, I didn't have much brick inventory at my disposal at that time and just used whatever was I seemed fit the purpose. Funny that you mention about today's standard for MOCs, SNOT wasn't even done as much then as it is now and that's why all the studs showing make it look unfinished. There are some elements in the scene that I've chosen to retain and those filler brown slopes are certainly not going in the new MOC. Keep posted as it shouldn't take long before the makeover is done. AC
  4. After having done the previous MOC, it got me thinking about an old MOC from 2004 that I've done which should be ready for a makeover. The links from the LUGNET post don't work anymore as they were the old web provider that I ditched but some pics still exist in Brickshelf. Prepared to be shocked as these were from the early years and looking at these made me wonder "What was I thinking when I did these?". Now that you've seen the crude MOCs and had a good laugh as I did , will you be ready when the new one is done? AC PS. Pics are not links but you should be able to figure out Brickshelf if you want to find more old stuff that I did which were never moved to the new website for obvious reasons.
  5. Never too late to start something new and these factories have a whole lot going on that you can make an MOC for. The arms are fragile and not meant to be played with, though you could slide the conveyor belt from one end to the other. AC

    Running

That's what I used to do on weekends to supplement the workouts during the week. Got bit by the running bug after I did my first half-marathon in Oct 2008. I'll be running my first NYC Marathon this November so I'll finally join thousands cross the Verrazano Narrows bridge. That's what some of my friends say who play soccer though some have tried running the 5k race sponsored by the company that I work for at least once a year. AC
  7. The scene wouldn't be complete without him. Yes, now I remember when I got those on clearance sales. This could have been done in a larger baseplate if I had more of the sand-red BDs. Don't know if anybody else noticed that the conveyor belt that the droids are on actually slides through. That's the general idea about this scene though some lower background details are obscured from the main pic but can also be seen fromthe other pics provided in the link. You'll just have to wait and see what comes next! It also added a bit of humor to an action scene. That remains to be seen and maybe if somebody's willing to donate more geonosians and sand-red BDs. Tried to incorporate most of the details within the actual movie scene, only thing missing was the placement of the droid heads where the grabbers took them. As mentioned prior, those yellow pieces were just what I had in stock. AC
  8. Wish I had more of those Geonosian BDs and would have made it to at least a 48x48 footprint. Those curved walls were meant to be on both sides but would have obscured the view for taking pics so the other wall was dropped. ^Ditto^ Only color that should have been different were the yellow grabbers but didn't have those pieces in another color. See quotes above... Wouldn't be complete without him in the scene. Not sure which set I got them from but definitely not SW. That's what I tried to figure out and settled for the grabber with the BD head. AC
  9. Despite being slow and antiquated by galactic standards, each facility boasted hundreds of conveyor belts and robot assembly arms, capable of creating thousands of droids per day from scratch. As usual, click the pic for more details... AC

    Running

Anybody else run races? If so, what distance and how often do you run? Here's a pic from my recent NYRR Manhattan Half-Marathon last Saturday January 22, 2011. It was freezing cold and I didn't even notice that my sweat turned to icicles! AC
  11. Did anybody else besides the three winners get their snowflakes? AC
  12. The green whips are supposed to be tall grass. Just done half-way through when the contest ended but wanted to complete it as I didn't want to have the design that I had in mind go to waste. Now back to building what I really like! Didn't want to overdo the dojo and since I didn't have much brown skis, kinda improvised with the roof and hence the name Red Dojo. Yeah, the dojo and the gate were classic designs. Mainly improvised more on the plant life and the brown roof. The pathway is just another little detail amongst many, did you also notice the pond with the fish and frogs? AC
  13. That shot also shows what I thought all along, the two bottom columns need to be longer compared to the upper supports beneath the landing pad. Which also means bigger AT-ATs! If you only lived close by, I would have lent my greens to this project. Congrats also on your newborn! AC
  14. In the early spring as the flowers bloom, the preparation for battle looms across the red dojo. Last minute rites are administered by the sensei amongst the most skilled pupils before they go to battle. As usual, click the pic for more details... AC

    Rook Runner

You're far worse than I am! At least I keep my MOCs for about a month before they're deconstructed. It took you three months to build and just kept it for more than two weeks before this! But I know how that feels as I've done the same after completing an MOC which you've been staring at for soooo many days. You just want to get it over and done. AC
  16. Again it starts with a good reference model to work with. First to be done and the head just followed after. The posing issues will be resolved the next time that it will make an appearance. Yes, there are but they don't get posted as they're rebuilt until I'm satisfied. The head on this alone took a couple of days before it was done. AC
  17. See posing problems above. That was the first part that I worked at with the Hasbro Rancor beside me at all times. ^Ditto^ That's why I've used a better model to work with. After the head, the hands were done next. See post on posing problems above. At last I've finally found some good use for those speeder bike clips. Again it started with a very good reference model to work with. Not the angle but posing problems. You'll see more of it next time. AC
  18. Just added in the description about where the design was derived from. A minifig would be two studs below the knee and you'll eventually see more next time. Not if you look at it from the side views. Posing is a bit of a problem as the head is too heavy and the click hinges don't hold at all. I might still do some mods in the future. Yes, it is in minifig scale.
  19. Loosely based from the Hasbro Rancor action figure in minifig scale. As usual, click the pic for more details... AC
  20. Started at first with the main structure and slowly added most of the details based from the actual movie scene. That lighting from just one lamp was much more tricky but just tried to vary the position until the required effect for the scene was achieved. ^Ditto about the lighting^ I did mention in a previous post that a small led flashlight was used on Han carbonite. AC
  21. Tempted at first to just do a close-up (middle part) but felt much better to have done the full scene with all the little details. AC
  22. Tried that but the beam was not concentrated enough and found a small led flashlight that did the trick. AC
  23. This particular scene relies heavily on the lighting effect which I've had to try various ways to get the correct effect. Plus minor changes were also done to the details as you can see from the webpage if you've clicked on the link. Must be your computer and realize that if you're looking only at the pic from this page which is not of the higher resolution. Click on the pic to get a better view and find more... Dark as it should be but the little details had to come out with the correct positioning of the light. Yes, there's only one overhead lamp used for the shots. The arch does not cover the light if you've looked at the other pics. The other animal head is the dinosaur head mentioned by Walter below. All the effort that went to this was worthwhile. Of course it is real, a lot of adjustments done just to get the correct shadows casting on the floor and not on the details. It's a dinosaur head as mentioned prior and also about the lighting. Care to make a guess about the spotlight on Han carbonite? You got that right about the dinosaur head with two black horns added to it (previously white in the other pics). Thanks and ditto about the lighting effects. AC
  24. From my dungeon to yours! Happy Holidays! Click the pic for more details! AC
  25. Yeah, that description fits nicely the activity up front. Really had to figure out a way to have each of the forty thieves do something and then fit them in about half of the space left from the 48x48 baseplate. Here's a shot of the mountain by itself. Kinda went the other way from the Disney inspired MOCs that have already been turned in. Always good to build something other than SW for a change. AC
