  1. I apologize for bumping a rather ancient thread, but I have some questions. I have a similar big boy, though it is currently powered only via two PF motors in the tender. I get a lot of slippage of wheels especially while going around corner. I'm really interested in making this thing move via the drive wheels. What I want to know is: What would be the best motor to use? I believe I could fit multiple L motors inside the very hollow boiler of my big boy. What would be the best way to get power to the wheels? Currently the only thing attaching all 16 large drivers to the boiler is a single 4x4 turntable bri Even if I did manage to get motors and such inside of the body of the train engine, would I get any significant improvement? How much would adding a buwizz or Sbrick increase my overall performance?
  2. I bought another train from bricks northwest at brick con today
  3. I've had the pleasure of meeting this guy and buying one of his trains, he makes some great stuff.
  4. After having had this set for a while now, I feel it isn't worth the price tag at all, especially when compared to the disney castle. I feel it is easily $100 overpriced for what you get.
  5. I love how well you enclosed the model; I've been wanting to put a back on my disney train station
  6. Man, I think I have an idea for a christmas present for myself! Actually I can't decide between this and the Neuschwanstein Castle. Does anyone have a picture of this next to an emerald night or other official set? I'd love to see the comparison
  7. Personally if you plan on running your trains I feel 6 wide is better. While running they have the same aesthetics and look more proportional, and are also lighter so you can pull more. I feel the disney carriages being 8 wide really detracts from their appearance because of how short they are
  8. Doesnt the emerald night do as you describe? I'm almost done with the the train part; I have to say the size of the "Lilly Belle" car is driving me bonkers; It is way too short, and the 8 wide makes the proportions look even worse. Thing thing really needs to be at least 32 studs long. Thankfully, that is fairly easy to fix. I also really want to make the train itself more like the original. I'd love to make the driving wheels make the train move but I'm not sure if I can do that in an aesthetically pleasing way. There is honestly nothing wrong with making the tender move the train, It's just a thing I need to get myself past, or find some way to build my own motor housings and such. After I redesign this thing, I really want to give it some chrome gold/chrome silver parts. In the technic/model team forum i see this done occasionally. Where do you get parts chromed?
  9. How accurate is the train to the real thing? In the real train, are the drive wheels on a bogie?
  10. You should buy 2! that way it can help us maybe get another creator train
  11. I'm in love with that bridge!
  12. I got the job so that means i am now obligated to buy it.
  13. If you melt them down you can get even more space savings.
  14. Also, currently these motors are designed only to be used for specific purposes; you have to use them as intended in the app. You also cannot connect these to the AAA battery box trains use, as they will not work.
  15. I look forward to seeing these!
  16. ALso I feel that train station is the closest thing we will ever get to a "modular" train station. I look forward to turning it into a full building, based on the real thing I just realized i really need those red wheels for a MOC.
  17. HI like it! Also revealed on the same day as my final Disney interview I wonder if it's a sign. I feel the motorization being in the tender is a good thing because it allows much more customization on the engine. That said, I still prefer having motors in the engine themselves

  19. It's a castle i've been wanting to visit for years, and I'm finally going to get to this fall. I want to build a mini version of it out of Lego first though; I can't decide what color is the roof? In some pictures it looks dark grey, while in others it looks dark blue. I've looked up models of it online, and sometimes the roof is dark grey, and sometimes it is dark blue. What color should it be?
  20. I know it's probably not a train, but I'd really love another train. Heck i'd probably buy 6 of them like i did with every other creator train. Heck, even if it were an emerald night re-release i'd still buy despite already having 6 emerald nights
  21. Man that colosseum was beautiful
  22. I love your Link Fig! You're doing a great job with the house! are you going to do the outside too, with Link's horse in the stable?
  23. I just finished building the garage last night! Before buying, I wasn't a fan of the building; it just didn't look beautiful, though a garage shouldn't? Anyways after having built it, my opinion of the building remains the same; It is a fairly ugly building. I did however love some of the building techniques used, such as the diagonal facade, and that brilliant garage door design. I'm glad I got the set for the building experience? I've been really lukewarm about the last couple modular buildings. I hope next year has a more appealing one. (but who am I kidding i'll end up buying it even if i hate the thing) Also having a macaw loose in a vet waiting room is a lawsuit waiting to happen.
  24. I got the Paris skyline set! I really enjoy it
