    Canadian Eh?

You say Potayto, I say Potatto.... I will at Brickfete for the weekend with the missus. Should be interesting as the missus has never been to a lego con.
  2. I love your title.

  3. I think you get blank message cards to add your own custom speech... there is one vendor that has them already listed... but not quite available at this time. www.schylling.com I liked the minifig display cases on the site and the plush minifigs... Ben
  4. I just wanted to say that I am very impressed with the look of the town, and the subtle complexity of the details. Its a great job and I really enjoyed reading and will continue to enjoy the progress of the growth of the town. Thanks for posting your work LCM. Ben
  5. I was wondering if he designed this. I saw on Railbricks.com a picture of him holding the Red Cargo Train. That makes it at least 2 official train sets designed by Canadian Pierre Normandin. Sweet. Brick On Pierre. Ben ps ... welcome to Eurobricks Daz Hoo.
  6. Wow... the thread is from 2006. The link at the top of the thread goes to ILTCO website.... all resources from the site were supposed to go here: Railbricks.com The thread about the news is here: Eurobricks discussion thread I hope that helps. btw, if you are looking for photos of the 7897 (RC Express Train), a link is here: Brickshelf Photos of the RC Train
  7. A definite must have. Better than the Maersk ship? Yes. Better than the Maersk train? That answer isnt as easily answered....
  8. I finally ordered and received the parts for two hopper trailers. If I had ordered the model via Design-By-Me it would have been around $40 US for it. I ordered the parts from Lego Online Pick-a-Brick and it cost $45 Us for parts for two of them. I am sure if I would have used Bricklink, it might have been slightly cheaper for the brick, but may have had to use multiple sellers (and increased overall shipping costs). Brickshelf Folder The link below is a brickshelf photo after allowing my wife to conduct a "drop test" (or 2) on one of the trailers. Crash test results The link below is a brickshelf photo of the "Farm Train" Farm Train The link below is a brickshelf photo of one of the trailers from the top down looking inside. view from the top This is why Lego is FUN!!! I am bringing this (these) models to Brickfete in Toronto at the end of July. Thanks, Ben
  9. Thanks for posting this... I guess the next step its got to pass the "viabilty" assessment by a Lego Jury in order for it to clear to the production phase. 1% of revenue on 10,000 units is better than nothing, but it isnt all that much. The instructions look wicked, especially on that submarine model.
  10. That is amazing. Great job. I like the cars and the station and the background story involved. I rode a REAL one of those at Lookout Mountain (on the Tennessee/Georgia border).
  11. That sucks about the book and thanks for the warning about it. I liked "Getting Started with Lego Trains" by Jake McKee. Great pictures and good info. I decided to "help" the greater good by donating my copy of the book to the public library, hoping they would put it on their shelves for others to read. Alas, I think the book just went to their donation table. I hope they got good money for it if they sold it. And for some light-hearted lego-related fun.... Lego Train Commercial (youtube) I saw this and had to post this...
  12. I've been a lego fan since 1985. I was and still a big "townie". I could never afford any of the trains, whether they were 12 Volt, 9 Volt, or even the reasonable 4.5 Volt trains. Since becoming an Adult Fan of Lego after a fairly long period of a dark age... I think 4 to 6 years... I cant remember how long exactly. I remember while I was in the middle of my term of enlistment in the army, and having had a nice bunch of disposable income to spend. I walked into the Toys R Us in 1999 and bought my first train and lego set in a long time. It was, Im afraid to say, the 4561 Railroad Express (Train Junior???) Since then I've gotten most of the 9V train sets (Metroliner, Load N Hault, Freight Rail Runner, Freight N Crane Railway), the World City train sets (Cargo Train and the HighSpeed Train), most of the train cars from the My Own Train Cars, the 7745 High Speed Train (12 V), 7722 Battery Train Set. This year I got the Maersk Train set, Emerald Night, and the TS3 Western Train. Ciao.... Ben
  13. I have more pics taken, but I will not post them until after Brickfete. Yes, I am bringing the model, the box, and the instructions to Brickfete. I dont really like the instructions, and I had to make a minor tweek in the model to keep it together better. Thanks for the comments. Ben
  14. Hi, I had designed this model a few months ago. I used my local fire engine, Engine 3, an American Lafrance Eagle. With a local convention coming up soon, BrickFete in Toronto, I buckled down and ordered it as a DesignbyMe model. (I'm not going to disclose what I had to plunk down).... Anywho... here is the model: Brickshelf Folder Enjoy. Ben Edit: I trimmed the link, it should work... bm
  15. Sweet Car designs StarkMark. I cant wait to see how you approach the design of the Dodge Challenger... I like your reference "inspration". Good luck.... post soon. Ben

    Market Square

Hi, I would like to show you guys my latest project. This is the bottom-part of the structure. I need to work on the roof-top design, but I figured I'm far enough on the design chain to let you see. It is the most intensive model I've put together on Lego Digital Designer, and think that my laptop is too taxed to handle it... the price is a ghastly $425 US. The Building guide is over 500 steps... Anyways, as a way to celebrate Queen Victoria's Day here in Canada, I'm exerting some civic pride by creating a model of the market square in brick. Enjoy. The piece count is 1367 pieces and the price according to the Lego Website is $424.88 US or $484 Canadian. I posted some "screen shots" of the LDD model in my brickshelf account. Brickshelf Folder Deeplinked shot... Enjoy...
  17. Actually when I seen this set, it reminded me more of this set for the 80's: At least the blue crane system... it would have been nice if Lego would have included a terminal with it as well.... Comparing ships.... looks like we got a raw deal in 2011.
  18. I had a burst of inspiration the end of last week and finished this modest model on Saturday. The folder on Brickshelf isnt quite public, but I'll post the deeplink for the model: I hope you enjoy the model. thanks, Benjamin
  19. apparently loves the colour red and uses too much in his MOC's.... ;)

  20. Nice Attempt Javert... Thanks for sharing. What's wrong with Liverpool...?? Unless you prefer Manchester United?
  21. I seen the scene and I was thinking Peter Pan and the Darling family. The dad could "lose" the hair and become Captain Hook, especially with the Pirates of the Carribean sets coming out. The 3 kids could easily pass for Wendy, Michael and John.
  22. I read some of the comments here... some are mildly amusing especially the comments about the monorails and 9V track. You probably wont see the return of either... like was said the moulds of the monorail elements were destroyed, plus, the manufacturer of those monorail motors is gone and producing them inhouse would be insanely expensive. As for 9V track, the profit margin isnt that high, so why should Lego produce it... I have a 2006 Shop@Home catalogue that I regularly look at and see that there are a handful of rolling stock available to buy individually (Intercity Train Engine, Intercity Train Passenger Car, BNSF Engine, TTX stock cars, My Own Train caboose and My Own Train green Passenger Car (if I remember correctly)...and wish that Lego did more of the similar items. or... they could just increase the amount of pallet for Design by Me as was suggested by some, so we dont bang our heads against the wall... my 2 cents.
  23. Yup. You are right... no part available for sale. The part you are referring to is this: 1x3x5 with pump jack and wrench I must say that this set was one of my faves growing up...
  24. 1. If you are using LDD, you could use the universe mode... less constraints... 2. I personally wouldnt order the model with design by me...especially if you only have a $200 budget... I have serious doubts you could get the model. An alternate would be to try other bricklink sellers or even Lego's Online Pick-A-Brick, unless you really want to get a nice flashy Design-by-Me box of the model. 3. I cant give you an answer.... I know I just got a TS3 train and the cowcatcher is a plate thick on top...and looks almost like this... oo with two studs on the first row, and six studs on the second row. oooooo I hope that helps somewhat. Ben
  25. This may be a correct and rational answer in the retail scheme of things, but on Ebay and Bricklink, both sets are relatively the same price. This may be my own opinion, but the only redeeming factor on the helicopter set was the helicopter and if you are like me I have helicopters coming out of my ears. The truck and trailer are just plain hideous. At least the Trucks in the Wind Turbine Transport look decent...even though the color red is quite commonplace and plain.
