I called Lego and talked to customer service for an old order that I'm waiting on. They gave me a DHL (that's the courier service they use in the USA) tracking number. I used the number to verify the tracking on DHL.com (and picked usa as the country)... I think in my case, in particular, that the US Postal Service, well, my local Post Office, messed up handling the shipment, because the DHL website says "delivery attempted" at the post office... and strangely that there wasn't a package for me there. Hope this helps a bit.... I think the tracking part from Lego.com stopped working when they moved their Shop@Home fulfillment centre from Enfield, CT to Tennessee and started using DHL. Just my theory. Thanks, Ben M.

There was a prototype of: the play train base plate with the proposed RC infrared connector. one of the cars was shown, a bit simpler than the stuff we're used to seeing in the 9V line, but still MUCH better looking than the 4+ system. The attitude at Brickfest was that the 4+ line was on its way out. However, none of the execs officially said that.

Just a heads up, that the TTX train car is available now in Europe for 40 Euro at Lego Shop @ Home. Lego TTX train car Ben

Unfortunately, the only place I get to play Evil Stevie's Pirate Game is at Brickfest. Evil Stevie's Pirate Game Good? IT'S GREAATTT!!!! :-D Evil Stevie's Pirate Game Brickfest 2003 Photos Enjoy!!! Ben Medinets

Do mice like Cheese (or peanut butter)? :-D Of course, I'm going to buy more pirate sets.... I bought the runner for a larger ship for my pirate crew for Evil Stevie's Pirate Game. Now, I need to modify/personalize it and come up with a real kick-butt sail design. I also have 15 Emperor's ships ready for sell/use for ESPG. *glasses* Ben Medinets

Theres a sweet satisfaction about being right. :) Anyways, I am looking forward to the set despite it not having the old window frame / shutter design on the cargo vans. Also, why is everytime I turn my back, Lego comes out with a new exclusive? Ben Medinets

Pirate Ship from E-bay = Ebay Auction Link I hope that works.... if not... I got the set for $25.00 US. Thanks, Ben
-
A wise guy.... it has the colon so that makes it a compound word. If you know the bricklink story like I do, it was once called "Brickbay". Ebay sued or threatened to sue Brickbay to change because it sounded like their name. Ergo.... Evil-Bay. Ben Medinets

One word = E(vil)-Bay! Arrrggghhh..... shiver me timbers!!! Ben M.

I got a Renagade Runner in the mail today and I was very happy with the hull sections. I can't wait to put the set together. Another pirate set to add to my collection. Arrrrrrgh.... :D

I voted for the carribean clipper because it has a nicer stern section. If they would have designed the Imperial Flagship with a nicer stern, I might have voted for that. The jibbing on the Imperial Flagship is nicer and also a nicer "flap system" above the cannons. What also cost points, at least in my opinion, is the choice of colors used on the Imperial Flagship. I found some of them distracting. I loved the colors on the Armada Flagship (at least the hull section) Blue and White. The added greens were a bit distracting and the single canon makes this set hardly worth getting. The only other redeeming factor for the Armada Flagship is the chrome breastplate on the spaniard captain. Ben Medinets

Sounds neat.... now let's see ya build it.... you ol' salty dog!! Ben M.

Why did some sets have more than one name?
medib replied to Mister Phes's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I know in Canada, Lego was distributed by Samsonite for a long while. That might have something to do with it... differing countries may have had different "licensed" distributers with their own marketing agendas and strategies. Ben Medinets -
I sorta feel guilty about this thread, since I sorta influenced its beginning by posting the sets I had in Pirate on a different thread. Of course (or should I say of cause), if I wanted to really be impressive, I would be giving an inventory of my town/city/world city/town jr./etc. sets. :-D Ben Medinets
-
Thanks Masterphes, I mean Mister_phes for doing that for me... :-D just wanted to add that I have parts for another Armada Flagship and received that dreaded 4+ Pirate Ship. Peace out (if that's possible in the pirate world). Ben Medinets PS To make this thread relevant to the Eurobricks site (taking things off-topic), I just want to say that I enjoyed watching "Finding Neverland" with Johnny Depp, especially the scene with them at the cottage doing the imaginary pirate scene... " 'I'm the dreaded pirate Nibbs, feared by men and desired by the ladies...' " " 'Jack' " :D

The ship is retailing for same $75 US and finally available in North American markets. (for a limited amount of time) >:) Ben Medinets

EuroBricks - The Event - Are you comming?
medib replied to DoubleT's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
Hi, I posted my interest in going. I think I am the only North American interested in going. My e-mail account is: bmedinets@excite.com It is also a paypal account. Can I send the deposit by Western Union or Paypal? Thanks, Ben The only reason that I wouldn't be able to go at this point is that they suddenly decided to jack up the price of the airline tickets. And even then I would still try to go.... it would mean either that I would not be able to go to Legoland Guntzburg and/or going to Brickfest 2005. The other factor is being able to stay at my relative's house near Dusseldorf. BTW, can someone give me the cost of travelling by Train from Dusseldorf to Billund. The Eurail rate is too steep for me, and it is too confusing for me (online) to figure out the cost of individual tickets. Thanks, Ben Medinets (from Canada) -
I am thinking of going. I live in the Canada. Is there a place I can send a payment real fast to secure a spot before April 1st (well deposit). I do have Paypal, and am also willing to send a deposit by Western Union. Please PM me for details or you can post payment instructions if you would be so kind... ;) Thanks, Ben Medinets

I don't know if this was already posted, but I figured I'd post it just to make sure.... ;) So there you have it. Ferrari Truck released in Europe (Shop @ Home). Thought I'd post that. Link = Ferrari Truck Thanks, Ben Medinets

I'm not going to either... too expensive. I think Todd Thuma (from USA is going) in May. I am trying to save up so I can go at the end of July, but the big wild card for me at the moment is the price of airfair.

Who are all the Pirate Lego fans on this board?
medib replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
I have a decent collection of pirate sets. As in: 2 Imperial Trading Posts 2 Imperial Outposts 1 Caribbean Clipper 1 Pirate Periolous Pitfall 1 (Legend) Blackseas Barracuda 2 Cannon Cove 1 Armada Flagship 1 Harbour Sentry 1 Sabre Island and sad to say, that I ordered a Redbeard's Pirate Ship (new 4+ "jack stone") :( Ben Medinets -
The lowest one available at Bricklink (from a US vendor) is $89 US. Ebay did not have a complete one available by itself. Lugnet says that retail price for the set was $73 US. However, I would strongly recommend getting the set through Ebay if possible. There shouldn't be a lot of demand for this set. (At least I didn't find it too popular when I won the ebay auction several years back). I hope that helps, even slightly. Ben Medinets

now now... that isn't true. Walmart Canada has the occasional Lego clearance on at certain times of the year. Toys R US (in Canada) also have certain times they have sales (mainly before Christmas). You just have to be in the right store at the right time. Toysrus.com (US site, actually Amazon.com) always has some nice discounts on sets (but you have to have a US address to receive Lego) >:( Lego.com occasionally has some nice discounts on some sets, but mostly they are few and far between. The weekly phone special list has a few rare gems on it occasionally. Ben Medinets

Ahhh... Sorry. I haven't made use of the polls here... (as in creating or setting one up) :$ Ben Medinets
