  1. We need a tutorial on how to file them down then get it really smooth with ultra fine sandpaper to make them perfect! ;)
  2. That's quite nicely done!... A second set for me also once they're on sale! They haven't actually used that much of the second set there either... I think it could still be bigger.
  3. Yeah... that looks like the figure on the leaflet. I used to like the DeCool Iron Man figures. They really went to town on the metallic print and Sheng Yuan had the odd inverted toes. Now though Sheng Yuan have upped the quality of their product so much with regards to lego and torso moulds, accessory and custom moulds, plastic colour, print and most of all their QC... while DeCool are still a little hit and miss and their shoulders are too sharp. (I do the filing thing too!) The SY clones of Lego figures are now pretty much spot on and you'd need an actual official figure to compare next to it to be able to spot that it wasn't real. So if anything some of the figures in the Captain America range are a little disappointing as they could have been really superb... I think it goes to show that their designers are limited... great at copying existing but need a little work to create something new. That said the torn leather jacket looks great... I'm only getting the set for that and the NYTF Bucky Cap. I'm waiting for them to arrive to be able to compare the Christo Captain America from the first movie with this one... except for the shoulder print being missing and the slightly squashed face print it looks like it could be very good. The copies of the regular Cap figs I'll give away.
  4. That's an interesting point of view I'd not considered. It's similar to the fact that in Barcelona there are bootleg football shirts sold in shops all over Las Ramblas allowing everyone to have the jersey rather than just the official Nike one at £60 and over. We forget that these things are aimed at a completely different audience normally and some if the more obscure brands are really bad quality... But DeCool and Sheng Yuan are actually creating a better quality product... And improving all the time. This means their appeal is growing worldwide rather than just in the local, low cost, Eastern market. There's only a couple of things in the new SY Captain America and Super Heroes ranges that stop them being on par with Lego and other quality customisers. A bit more QC and they'd need to be taken seriously. The fact that they're both replicating Christo figures and now going after newer pad print customisers tells me someone is pretty switched on when it comes to this... But if they were REALLY switched on they'd just visit a forum like this and find out what people wanted and make those instead. They've shown they can make moulds and create custom pieces and now they've actually improved the shorter Lego legs.
  5. I just spoke to someone in the Liverpool store here in the UK and they've confirmed to be that it will be available in store on 1st June.
  6. Hi spoke to a member of staff at the Liverpool store and they've confirmed a 1st June release for the X-Men set here in the UK
  7. HA... No... Not deserting at all! My collection of figures proudly contains MANY custom figures on genuine Lego parts and I'll always go for well designed, pad printed customs over knock-offs... despite the additional cost But faced with paying $80 for a Christo Joker or $2 for a bootleg replica? Until I decide I've got that extra $78 just lying round then I'll accept the knock off for a short while. Besides... nobody has yet put out a pad printed Phoenix or Comic Con Spiderman 2013 have they? So I'll take these for now. The custom Spidey heads are on their way so they'll sit nicely on a Venom figure to make that one as close as it can. Just need the Ecto-1 now to fit the custom arms on the figures!
  8. Yeah... Looking at the face on that Bullseye it's the grimace face rather than the teeth bared which would make it a copy of the NACM version. Copies of regular figures don't hold any interest to me as I have the original Lego versions but those customs and hard to get figures that I don't have are always interesting as long as the print is good.
  9. The figure on the SY set is a very pale comparison to your version. I wouldn't worry too much about it. I've got the SY set on the way for a couple of the figures alone and there was no way I was going to NOT get your version instead of theirs. Quality figures will always win out although the bootleg companies are now cloning things very quickly from official sets and also the new DeCool leaflet shows a Punisher and Bullseye which look like complete copies from customisers too.
  10. BigFig Thing , Punisher and Bullseye it is then... I picked up Muddy River's Punisher recently and had a spare trenchcoat from an old Christo buy so I've got a pretty good pad printed version already. Interested to see whose design they've stolen on that.. Christo/Muddy River/Eclipse/Pop... Bullseye looks like a straight copy of the Muddy River/NAMC figure. After seeing that SY had copied Jek-14 and had the transparent arm I wondered how long it would be before Electro was made. Red Skull, Taskmaster and Falcon getting cloned already? They're pretty quick on getting them copied. That next BigFig looks interesting... anyone with a better knowledge of DC and Marvel know who that might be?
  11. Seems odd that they'd go to that trouble when Lego have never bothered. They look like they work pretty well too!
  12. I bought the Brickforge Super Soldier kit with the shield and the blue helmet with printed 'A'. I think the torso on that SY version with the torn jacket will make that perfect. The blue slip on caps on these might be useful... See how it fits on my Christo Cap A. I'm looking forward to the Phoenix Customs stealth suit version from WS but this one will do for now. Picked up the DeCool set with Phoenix etc for just under £6 today too so it's fingers crossed for some decent print!
  13. Cheers for that!! On the new Batman set from Sheng Yuan the short legs on Robin and Penguin work the same as the regular lego legs. They have hips and short legs attached so they have movement. I have all of the originals of those figures but I'm really interested to see how they work. They actually could be an improvement over the static Lego versions.
  14. Can you post a link to the auction seller?
  15. My SY Captain America set is on it's way... Someone is picking up the DeCool set with Phoenix for me at the weekend. SY have released a new Batman series with all of the figures from the recent wave. They actually look perfect.
  16. Just popped into my local Tesco and I'm pretty sure they had them. Might be worth you checking there or a local John Lewis.
  17. They're the best selling items in the Liverpool Lego Store. Nothing Kinder about them.
  18. I think the heads are very well done on these. I think the regular lego heads with print would have looked poor in comparison.
  19. My bigger issue is how Cuusoo is used full stop. Maybe changing it to Ideas is actually more accurate to how it might be used. When it comes to something like the Sandcrawler, that's a perfect example of what I mean. The submission was beautiful... it really was. But it was at the point of being too large for a release. It was a wonderful MOC but not practical as a Lego product at that size. The 10,000 votes maybe highlighted just how popular the set was... however advanced Lego's plans for the current UCS version. I just get the feeling that Cuusoo was being used as a way of getting 'likes' for a MOC rather than any realists chance of something being put into production. I must admit... my heart sinks a little when I see a really well made MOC and then underneath there's a link to support it on Cuusoo. Great MOCs don't need recognition via 'likes' or 'high fives' on Cuusoo... Not unless they were designed for the specific purpose of being a retail set... and that's a whole different thing to factor into a MOC. The Theed Hangar that's featured in the new book is an outstanding MOC... It's fantastic... and it might race to 10,000 votes but I don't see it ever being produced... maybe one fighter with some wall space or equipment for some Naboo Security to hide behind and some Droidekkas... but not the whole thing. The 10,000 votes might just serve the purpose or letting Lego, or indeed Disney, know that a TPM set is still popular... if they actually needed confirmation! A Helicarrier is a perfect example of how something so utterly huge could get 10,000 votes in no time but would never sell 10,000 times as the cost would be well over £1000 for one even remotely resembling the MOC submission. I bet the people voting like the IDEA of it... but would have neither the financial capacity... or the space... to get one. If and when it got reduced down to a practical size people would then complain it's a shadow of the original submission. I also got a bit of stick for saying that some submissions were lazy in a previous thread. I don't care how well made a MOC is... how clever the design... but if you're taking an existing item from a licensed set and recreating it larger or smaller then the IDEA can be considered lazy in my opinion. We've had AT-ATs, We've had Batmobile Tumblers, We've had BatCaves... If it exists then the idea itself isn't particularly exciting is it? The MOC could be breathtaking but for me the cleverer submission is something that excites in the same way yet is viable as a realistic system scale or UCS scale release (and that doesn't mean a 15,000 brick X Mansion with 32 minifigures). The AT-AT highlighted in this thread looks just a touch too large to go into production at this size... it's fantastic, don't get me wrong, but it would need changing to be released. Maybe just the timing is wrong with the new system scale version... I certainly hope something like this gets released at some point. I think all of us SW fans hope for these things but if Lego were to put out a UCS AT-AT then it doesn't actually need submissions to Cuusoo to do it. It wouldn't surprise me if there was a UCS AT-AT constructed at Billund at some point in the last few years for consideration... I don't think it's something that needs 10,000 'likes' to make it real.
  20. Rotate arm to the back of the fig and lift up is the way for me too. Just had a custom Punisher arrive and had to fit the trench coat so I removed the arms this way and then had to pop the arms back in over the holes on the coat. I never bother to remove the hands... it's actually easier to grip the arms with the hand acting as a little stopper!
  21. I thought that... then when I looked into it and the actual footage of the film these colours are more accurate... don't know how I never noticed it before. Same for General Veers.
  22. I'm not so sure about those LeLe figures but I'll be picking up those Sheng Yuang ones!
  23. Well I agree with the above comments that Witch King Battle should technically be incorporated into a Minas Tirith set... but if we were looking at similar priced sets and Minas Tirith was more of a battle pack and some battlements then I'd go for Witch King Showdown. I want a Fell Beast with Witch King and Eowyn over Faramir and some Gondorians. Ideally in a massive set WITH Faramir and some Gondorians!! ;)
  24. I enquired many moons ago with regards to ordering several parts of a minifig that was specific to a set... actually a SW set. I was told that they couldn't supply those parts due to licensing agreements... or something similar.
  25. I'll send you a PM where you can get some of these! ;)
