Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Grrr replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
The "bricks" are snot tiles. Which also explains not being able to see the join between floors people have been going on about. The floors clearly come at the 8 and 16 stud points of the Teal pieces on the right. -
It's important to note that Nexo Knights takes not one, but two classic theme slots; namely Castle and Space. We haven't seen proper Space sets since Galaxy Squad (and space has since the late 90's had to share it's market with Star Wars, in much the same way that Castle shares some of it's market with Ninjago). In any case, it'll be interesting to see what plans are for 2019/2020. This year has been especially messy with two Lego movies (Ninjago and Batman) taking up a lot of retail space. The Ninjago movie was intended to come out last year (but was delayed as apparently the first cut was not up to snuff) and as such, there hasn't been much room this year for other themes. The same applies to the 1st half of 2018 where the remaining Ninjago and Batman movie sets will be released. The 2nd half and 2019 should open up space with only one Lego movie planned for another theme... Personally, I've bought few little Castle sets in the 2000's as I've still not truly forgiven them for replacing old-grey. I wonder how many other Afols have subdued their Castle sales for the same reason.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Grrr replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
This one was leaked some time ago. Can't post photos for obvious reasons. Modular in a similar vein to the Skatepark/Funhouse 31081. Think a little cabin/chalet, with a white roof that doubles as a ski-slope, with a picnic table outside. -
Supported. This could be the perfect set for a 40th anniversary! Also, would make a brilliant parts set, which would help sales also.

Walked into Whitcoulls today - several Lego sets with the 25% and 50% off coloured dots.

As for the GST on goods imported, customs is allowed to do that - the threshold is over $400. Having said that, you should be able to NOT pay customs, but simply prove that you paid GST on your purchase (ie, your S@H reciept) - they can then follow up with the supplier (ie Lego). Having said that though, the S@H reciept shows GST at the old 12.5% rate, not 15%!

Did anyone else notice that the Lego shop returns form has their auckland phone number as 911? In any case, there is no way I'm giving my train back anyhow...
-
I just got a 'card to call'. Guess I'll get my train tommorrow :|.

You could try using two printed vouchers at two seperate stores... I've had some success with the gray plates on trademe - though I got some really early 50x50 stud ones (dating from the '60s), which aren't quite the same quality as the new ones. I'm guessing brand new ones are bley and not oldgray? - maybe I should continue buying second hand...

PoTC is definately here - both at Warehouse and Toyworld. Haven't seen any Cars yet though.
-
The small print says valid only from the 20th to 23rd. Nothing else. Will have to go in next weekend.

Shell is rebranding to "Z Energy". They so should have bought the rights to the Octan brand instead...

I wonder what age group of girls they are after. I think Fabuland was successful for many years as it went for a slightly younger market (think 4-8 rather than 6-10), and wonder if this is where Lego needs to reapproach the girls market from, rather than at the older end as it seems girls grow up pretty quick nowadays. I think part of what made Fabuland successful is that it wasn't overly girly in terms of colours and other stereotypical "girl" stuff.

Anyone know when 10218 - Pet Store is likely to hit shelves in NZ?
-
Thanks. I saw this when I was in Sydney a few weeks ago, but gave it a miss as I've always found the Aquarium to be a tad expensive for what it is, so I'm pleased to see what they've got in terms of models.
-
Yes, I collect the stuff, so definately interested...
-
I bought a massive carton of them from a trademe seller, they were unsold stock from a toystore apparently - paid sod all for them.
-
I have no musketeers nor vikings yet... I'll probably go back in the next few days to see if I can get what's missing. In the meantime, if any of you are army builders, I do still have a stack 6004's MISB in my Lego room that I'm also willing to trade. (I think there are 40 odd, haven't counted though).

That set wasn't at The Warehouse in Hamilton city - might duck out tonight to see if it's anywhere else. Anyone else in the tron collect Figs? I bought a lot today, but have quite a few duplicates. Available to trade: 2 x Surfie Chick 2 x Sailor 2 x Wearwolf 1 x Ice Skater Would like to trade for: Soccer Player Mad Scientist Musketeer Viking Hockey Player Street Skater
-
It never occured to me but this makes perfect sense - minifigs are amoungst the most complex pieces in terms of the priting and pre-assembly, and since these collectible figs, I'd say I'm getting 3-4x as many figs a year as I used to.

Gah! I leave Adelaide this afternoon, and will be in Perth until Friday - and I'm guessing the figs will lag behind several weeks when I get back to New Zealand after that :(! -
Has anyone seen 8069 in stores yet. I'm in Aus at the moment and it's a neat set - but I'll only take it back with me if it's not in store in NZ yet...
-
There used to be a particular Kmart in Auckland which would occasionally mark sets down to 10% of their value - as it turns out a dodgy staff member had a lego collector friend. I remember buying 6462 for 5 bucks for example. Pity it doesn't happen any more.
-
Might be able to get them from Lego.com too ... New Zealand has been pretty lousy in general for small sets. I've ordered one copy of 7567 from Lego.com last year, but would like more, but have never seen it in store anywhere in New Zealand (or in any of the many Australian stores I've looked in either).
