I got some string from the upholstery shop next door to work. He does a lot of car upholstery as well as canvas boat covers and shade sails. The stuff I got was white, but only cause it was the best thickness and he had run out of black. It;s a little thicker than lego string, and a lot more durable. Lego string will fray after a while if it's rubbing on stuff.

It looks crap. Doesn't even look like a raft. Not your fault though. Throw it away and stick with the Raft Raiders.

go option 1. you want the models to blend into the scenery, that way the scenery looks like it's supposed to be used for lego. If you cover it with enough models the scenery wont overpower anything anyway.

I don't mind them. I only had a couple of islander figs but all that changed in December. A 20kg lot of lego arrived from england which contained an Enchanted Island, and the week before my girlfriend had ordered me an enchanted island and a couple of others from the netherlands for christmas, thinking that I didn't have enough islanders and not realising a large set was already on the way. Thats alright though, cause now I have enough for a decent desert island. Just need some more foliage and green and yellow bricks. Blue baseplates wouldn't go astray either.

I liiiiike it. Colour scheme looks good. There is plenty of detail, lots of cannons and it's a nice size. I may have to steal that studs out on the sides idea one day though. It sort of makes the ship look stronger for some reason, even though the sides are thinner than they would normally be.

You should be able to run a good number of different devices off the one controller at the same time. I've had 3 trains running on the one loop at the same time ( motorised christmas train, converted 7740 and a double size High speed train). Only problem I encountered was that the lighter trains would catch up to the heavy one eventually creating one huge long train. If it'll run 3 motors pulling 13 odd carriages there's no reason you couldn't run a whole heap of lights or a good number of micromotors. The 9V Technic cables will plug onto your power regulator no problem as well for runnung lights and motors and they come in ssizes from 10 cm up to about 50cm I think.

Sets containing piratical and/or complimentary elements!
Landlubber replied to Berry Syedow's topic in LEGO Pirates
The main building of the shrieking shack is a good one for making your pirate town a little bigger if you remove the stupid swivel base. The boards over the windows can be removed and used as , well, boards. The other building is alright for parts, especially the large windows, which many of you may know I used on the govenors quarters of my large imperial fort. The transforming shed makes another little filler building for the town. -

Here's another recently ended stupid price. 4513 Train Station. Not exactly an old set and there seems to be plenty of them around. My girlfriend paid $50AU each for hers brand new about 6 months ago. These idiots drove it up to $255AU. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...58309&rd=1&rd=1

It was obvious to me Tully. Never mind Mr Phes. He's obviously been plundering too many native civilisations and sampling their many "herbs" so he's a slow little senor if you know what I mean. ;-)
-
Hell yes. I've already had an offer of $500 for it.
-
I think this was a Kmart Australia only special deal, rather than an official lego deal.
-
I was taking a dig at Mr Phes if anyone. The answer to his question seemed a little too obvious to me. All in good fun of course, and to make some interesting reading.

Here it is. Not just MISB, it also has shrinkwrap around the whole thing so there is no shelfwear on the BSB box, or even a pricetag sticker. The bonus set was unfortunately crushed a bit in transport due to it having a much weaker box and cause it was sticking out the side. No worries to me though cause the BSB is about as good as it's gonna get. If theres one in better condition anywhere in the world it must be stored in a vacuum with an electromagnetic levitation field so as to not put pressure on any part of the box.

The Armada Flagship is a re-release. The Barracuda is an original 6285
-
I've got 2 MISB sets. The Armada Flagship and the Black Seas Barracuda. I've got plenty of other examples of both so they can stay in their boxes. There's no reall special peices in there that aren't easily available elsewhere.

Hmmmm I'm guessing he wants to use them to create a partially realistic look to the photographs of his MOCs without having to go to the hassle and expense of creating scenery behind his models with Lego bricks. But then again maybe I'm thinking too laterally. Could be he wants to send a Christmas card to his Grandma? Or maybe he's making fake ID's. Could be he works for Steven Spielberg as a CGU artist. Anyone got any other ideas?

You should have MS Paint in the very least. That's what all the professional Graphic Designers use.

It's cheap if you want a smallish set to give a kid for his birthday. Not so cheap if you're a big kid trying to build an entire empire from bricks.
-
Crane. I bought 2 of them and made one supersized crane. It's a big set for the price as well.

I think most of you are missing the point. Lego is obviously way too expensive and should be given a serious price reduction to stop this kind of criminal behaviour.

Help needed to draw a map of a lego city
Landlubber replied to Minifig Lecturer's topic in LEGO Town
In Hobbes first post he has a link to the Freelug site. I believe you can get the updated baseplate llist from there somewhere. From what I remember it was a bit of buggerising around to get the registry list in the right place but it will all work. I have all those baseplates in my program, plus others like the 9V Central station and other sets. -
I knew that was what you were trying to do you wiley scoundrel. Can't trust these Frenchmen. How many Frenchmen does take to defend Paris from invasion? No-one knows, it's never happened.

I've tried one of my Eldorado Fortresses on the mountain baseplates. It looked kinda wierd. Only reason I did it was because I wanted to steal one of the gray ones to build an Imperial Trading Post. Later on I swapped to the gray/green/blue from the Rock Island refuge. It looks much better than the mountain one. Too much green doesn't go well with the colour scheme of the EF. I thought I had a photo but it's not on my camera and the lego is all packed up at the farm.

Lookin good Zcerb. How about adding some more blue baseplates in the CAD image to give a true sense of how it looks surrounded by water? Fill in the gaps and a 32x32 plate border around the front should help. Cant wait to see photo's of the real thing.
