Thanks for the vote. Feel free to steal away. I'm thinking of doing a Landcruiser Troopcarrier version as well.

PSPguy vs. SirNadroj MOCing Competition
Landlubber replied to Starwars4J's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Jeez PSPguy, way to quit early. Grow a backbone. In case you hadn't noticed, at the time of conceding defeat and ruining the anonymity, there were 2 votes cast. Both were for Nadrojs MOC. However one of the voters was Nadroj himself, meaning you were only 1 vote behind. On this note, I'm afraid I will have to recommend a Mis-Poll due to Nadroj' action. He was the first to Vote and Post in the poll, making it obvious which MOC belonged to who. This kinda ruins the whole idea of the anonymity, which I suspect is what PSPguy means when he talks about not following the rules. It was a good idea for a contest. Would have worked out better if the contestants were banned from posting in the thread till voting was completed. -
Mr Muscles Dodge. I suppose like him I like a bit of realism. PS. Thanks for your vote Mr Muscle.

Ditto. I vaguely remember posting the only 6 wide MOC sports car, as opposed to tiny turbo racers. Shine also had an entry I believe. Worst Poll ever. Perhaps the poll should be changed to "Who has the biggest ego".

I'm afraid I cant do a full proper review of this house, because at the time of opening the box(es) I had the idea of MOC'ing 2 sets into 1 large house , so I never actually built the set as it was intended to be. (But I think my way is better) The other problem is that I didn't take any photo's at construction time, because I didn't realise that no-one else had the set yet and figured Europe would have gotten it way before us convicts down under. Set- 4954 Tan Creator House. Pieces- Lots and lots. Box is huge and heavy. Price- RRP $99.95AU What I paid- Myer were kind enough to have a sale the day it came out. $80. Bought 3 houses plus 3 or 4 of every new 2007 city set. Build time- Same as the running time of the Rocky and Bullwinkle Movie with commercials. (Don't look at me like that. It was Sunday, absolutely freezing outside, I had the whole house to myself and there was nothing else on tv while I was building) . Please note however that was the build time for the double size where I was doing most things twice. I didn't build the cars or garages though. First up, heres the back of the box and the 3 instruction booklets that come with it. As usual, there are plenty of bags in there with parts sorted partially to size and colour. The best thing about it is the number of black roof tiles. Its hard to get large amounts of tiles these days. Ebay prices for a bulk lot of roof tiles usually reach some stupid figure. There is also a real large amount of tan bricks, which as far as I know are pretty hard to find, well over here they are anyway. You have to be careful during construction, as the corners where the walls meet aren't built very solidly and the whole house rely's on the roof for its structural integrity. The headlight bricks and 1x2 grey tiles make a real good looking pattern at the corners but aren that strong a building technique. The back wall is just plain, but I'm sure you could do something about it. The house has no interior whatsoever. Not even a floor for the second story. Well... um..... here's the front....... And again, this time WITHOUT A FLASH! Hey, reviewing isn't easy you know. Especially when you don't even build the set properly. I'm a builder, not a talker. Anyway, heres another of the front, a slightly tighter shot of the front door. And here are the parts I had left over. You may have to tilt your head cause I had already uploaded the photo's and CBF'd redoing that one. Overall, it's a pretty good set. It's not overly complicated but it's not too simple either. It makes for a good town filler and with the addition of a few bits can become a fully functioning minifig scale house. Pricewise I think it's well worth the money as you get a good selection of doors, windows and tiles, which are always handy when building buildings. There aren't too many bad points, mainly the lack of interior but thats not hard to fix. If you get the chance I suggest you buy this set.

Thats a cool idea. I got excited at first cause I realised I had never opened the bags containing the car parts on my Moc'ed 4954 creator houses. Upon further inspection I was dissapointed to find that not all the parts for the car were in the bag, just the Blue and dark grey pieces. Luckily the wheels and windscreen were there though so I thought..... MOC in a Bag. It took maybe 30 or 40 minutes, but I've managed to use every piece in the bag. The hardest part was when I wanted to change something and needed to separate pieces. especially if it was 2 1x2 plates stuck on top of each other or something. I gotta say though, this was one of the most satisfying things I've ever built, and was a great challenge. Now I gotta find more sets that are contained in a single bag. Perhaps some of the mini Technic sets like the tractor or Skid Steer Loader.

The best thing about track designer is that it doesn't update anything automatically. It doesn't rely on any other program or hidden files, just runs from its own folder. Thats why its so bulletproof. I'm very anti- autoupdates. Just bought a new Laptop with Windows Vista as standard. A guy at work bought one too and theres been crashes galore on both. Neither laptop has ANY programs installed except what was preinstalled. They've been setup purely to browse the net wirelessly. As Eric Cartman wold say, Vista sucks a$$.

Time to rationalise my Police Department?
Landlubber replied to Doctor Sinister's topic in LEGO Town
I suggest you send all your old vehicles to me. Our town is mostly vintage stuff. No new police cars here. -
If you take off the bridge pieces of 7900 and turn the supports up the other way, it actually forms a flatbed trailer which will support the digger without adding any extra pieces to 7900. You then have a bridge to integrate into your town.
-
Dunno. It's a pretty simple program. Don't the current Macs have capabilities for running some PC programs?
-
Yep, track designer is very easy to use, with very few bugs(if any). It doesn't crash your computer and if you search around there are other renderings for common ses that can be added to the registry. Found it. Heres the link to the updated registry. Registry Update

WHat the hell is that supposed to mean? Are they closed down for good?
-
I've got a better idea. My puter was upstairs in the study so I just used my girlfriends laptop (with wireless) so much that she went and bought another one. It gets even better. Instead of having to set up the new one with all her files, she just gave the new one to me (her work pays for them)

I got 3 of those about a month ago. I just didn't build quite how the instructions said to though.

Well, here's my entry. Aussie outback style Police car. (with a little story) Russ and Jacko are out tearing up the forest on their unregistered dirt bikes. Check this wheelie out Jacko!!! Uh oh. Hiding around the next corner is Bruce , the local copper from Dingo Creek. With him is his faithful 4 legged sidekick , Bluey. The best vehicle for catching hoons in the forest is the HJ75 Series Toyota Landcruiser, kitted out with all the good police gear. Crikey Russ, where the hell did that copper come from. Here's your ticket son, and your bikes are getting confiscated. See ya boys. Sorry, no room in the ute. Better start walking. Goddam it!!!! The real Toyota Landcruiser, for those of you in Eur and USA.

Lego has been around for quite some time now you know. There are quite a few sets already produced.

A completley new, orignal idea!!!
Landlubber replied to Zaktan of the Shadows's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I see one seriously major flaw with this idea. Transformers are a toy, correct? Why on earth would they sell licencing rights to another toy manufacturer? ( Thats right, LEGO is still a toy remember) -
It was kind of a spur of the moment idea. I could always extend the deadline a couple weeks if you wanted to advertise a bit. It's hard to tell if people are waiting to submit entries or if it's too much hassle for most members. I'll be knocking mine up tommorrow (home from work sick for a cuple days).

Problems with BS / Is BrickShelf no more ???
Landlubber replied to john cleese's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Because the folder entitled "killjarjar" has a description which says that this will contain his entry for the Eurobricks Vig contest where the vig has to depict JarJar coming to an untimely end. Heres the contest entries -
That was one of the bad things about this set. There are no floors whatsoever. As soon as you walk in the front door you would fall into the half basement thingy. I'll fix it eventually though.

How bout that? We only just got the Harbour and concrete truck and stuff a couple weeks ago. Then I'm in the store (Myer) 2 days later and see the new Creator house. Best thing is, they were in the middle of their stocktake sale when all the new stuff was released, so all sets were 20% off. My Girlfriend spent about $2000 in 1 week just on Lego. I'd love to do a review, but unfortunately I didn't build the set "by the book" so to speak. The GF bought 2 for her town (still unopened) but I'm into pirates and castle and figured it might make a nice elaborate home for my Carribean Harbour. 1 wasn't elaborate enough though, and because I had 2 sets..... I sorta modded it a little bit. Still a few details to do. Gotta figure out where it fits in before landscaping. Sorry, couldn't resist playing. As for the set though, it's brilliant. There are so many bricks its not funny. Good parts set. Plenty of roof tiles, tan bricks and if you need large amounts of grey headlight bricks then this is the set for you. Build time for the double townhouse was the same as the running time for the Rocky and Bullwinkle movie. (it was cold and windy, that was the movie on tv. Stop looking at me funny :-P ) And yes, there are instructions for all 3.
-
Are these released over in Euro and Americ yet? I bought 3 of them today and am kinda suprised that you guys are still talking about new pictures of it.
-
Here's an example I knocked up today just in case some people dont get the concept. Original set. Armada Sentry 6244 Lego Box photo My reproduction of the alternate model.
-
Thats a good way to put a positive spin on it. Only problem is, do the 4+ pirates have an alternate model shown on the box?
-
If you must. Won't do your credibility any good though. *sweet* Don't forget it's all about votes in the end and we all know some members views on 4+ pirates.
