Both good sets, but the trading post looks more impresive as a set. The red roofs make it stand out a bit more but it doesn't look as solid as an Eldorado Fortress. Again, hard to pick between but I'll go for the Eldorado fortress cause I have 4 of them but only 1 trading post.

Funny you should say that. Nearly all sets I've aquired have shooting cannons, except my Lagoon Lockup. I got a huge lot the other day, including boxes, and the 10040 Black seas Barracuda had the crosed non- shooting cannons. I'm pretty sure all the peices were original as the sails were pretty much unused and the dust patterns on everything was consistent with the set being built when bought and dismantled once to post to me.

Depends on the figure. If someone wnats to build an army of stormtroopers, droids, pirate imperial soldiers or castle knights , then having a large number will generally atract a lot of interest cause it's easier for army building. I'm not sure about the figure you speak of so it's hard to say whether demand for 20 of them will be high. The thing to remember about selling on ebay is that you need something that several people desperately want so they will start a bidding war on your product.

Whats to stop someone from building a Moc freight wagon from the RC battery baseplate and using it to run an old 9V train with standard wheels? The motor doesn't have to be in the very front of the train. It should run fine if it's round the middle somewhere, although I find they do struggle a bit if they're on the very end of a long train.

Too blocky? 1. It's lego, it's supposed to be blocky. 2. Have you seen the real trucks? They're pretty blocky themselves. Brilliant, every one of them. The man must be commended.

You would run past and "stop" a set? or perhaps you could run past and sieze it instead.
-
Wow. That looks awesome. I do have one small problem with it though. See the 1x3 bricks above the knights heads. They look a bit plain and "slabby". Could you add some more detail instead of those blocks, say something like the 1x1 clips or the 1x1 round plates in this photo. I know its only a small thing but I think it will make a lot of diference.

Castle chicks only had plain faces. they were obvious as women due to their hair, hat , or torso with necklace. I have the guarded inn and the maidens cart in my castle collection somewhere. The pirate series was the first minifigs I remember as having printed faces.

I'd think the same except for the fact that it appears to be set up in an attic or something similar. Notice the sloped corners of the room indicating a roofspace room. Whatever it is it's an impressive city. Pity there isn't a full shot of the whole lot, but the room probably doesn't allow for a panoramic shot.

4. No , it's sunday. And I don't see no ship. Why was it the 16x32 plate wouldn't fit? Counting is taught in mid-western schools isn't it? -

How are you going to know if it's someone here bidding on it? Besides, it's not us you have to worry about. It's the guys who are buying to resell again. The mothers who have no idea what it's worth and end up paying more than they have to in order to get it. It's the ebay fanatic who just must win at all costs, even though he could've bought cheaper elsewhere. Everyone here knows what the set is worth and wouldn't waste money paying for an overpriced set. Not to mention the postage. $20 to send to Australia? It would hardly wiegh a thing and there's no box so it could be packaged tight. -
Blackbeard, Bloodheart and small crew minifig customs
Landlubber replied to SirScottLego's topic in Pirate MOCs
Isn't the hagrid beard designed to fit over his big robe, meaning that on a standard minifig there are big gaps that look a bit silly? And you cant put a hat on cause its beard, hair and all? Or am I thinking of the wrong beard? -
You could use 2 of them in front of your fire station so that there is actual driveway/roadway leading in there.

The only unnamed characters are the two customers on the docks and the security guard with the rifle. I may come up with more names one day but there are going to be so many people in the end that naming them all will be impossible and futile. Most of my MOC's are fully equipped with minifigs and I still have over a hundred pirate related minifigs in excess.

Thanks Barry. Amada is the name of the girl (senorita) in the photo. I know the hacienda has a lot of colour, but he is a flamboyant spaniard, and I had lots of spanish looking bits in red green and white which gave me heaps of ideas that I wanted to put in the MOC. I actually left a lot of ideas out because of space and brick limitations. The windmill flaps are actually a single piece, which I believe to have come from the fabuland series also. I stole it from my girlfriends lego collection. As for the windmill mechanism, thats one of my favourite bits too. Anyone know if Bricklink supports video files? Might be able to upload a video of it working. I wouldn't mind doing a water powered saw mill for the MOC as well. Keep watching.

That looks really good. How did you do those lattice windows in the maidens bedroom?
-
Here you go http://www.20000-names.com/male_spanish_names.htm for the female ones just substitute "female" where "male" is.
-
Thanks for the comments. Phes - No, he wasn't inspired by that character Phes. Thats just a conicidence. I looked up a website full of spanish names and picked Gaspar because it meant "treasure keeper". The vague physical resemblance is ...... kinda spooky really. Tiber , I mean MR Tiber -There is no real point of the bridge. I was going to have a small jail or something where the stairs are, and I already had put the bridge piece in the mill. Then I couldn't make up my mind on the jail so I just chucked the stairs there. Phred - I do have a pile of town buildings. Eventually everything will get set up in a big layout (10m x30m shed is currently under construction on my farm). All my previous MOCs are still complete, I never cannibalise something for parts unless its really crap. I just get more parts. Red plates are a good idea, might try that. And no, there's no telephone booth. Gaspar has a Satellite phone. :p It's actually a bell, to alert the workers of knockoff time. There's an upside down yellow goblet in there. I've got a couple of wagons and stuff but they were out at the farm at the time I took the photo.

Here's a little Moc I whipped up over the christmas break. This little port is owned by Gaspar (the treasure keeper), a local spanish merchant who will buy and sell anything. Credit has to go to JoJo cause I ripped off several aspects of his warehouse. I couldn't help it, it looked so good. The whole lot Interior of the hacienda The warehouse, mill and stable The dock, with a couple of potential sellers, and Gaspars senorita Amada Gaspar himself Gaspars right hand man, Black Jack. An ex british naval captain and the regions top card player. Bottom floor of the warehouse Top floor The windmill The O'Malley twins, two irish brothers who run the mill. Their favourite after hours pastime is the local islander women. ; ) The mill actually works. The stable Inside the stable.

Whats the issues wth the roof? Thats the best part. 33 3x4 slopes wll look crap on such a small Moc. They lack detail and look blocky, which will really stand out consderng the roof is a standout part of the Moc.

Best way I've found is to start from the bottom and work your way up. :P How would you do a tutorial on how to build ships? Isn't it just a case of get a picture of a ship , tip all your lego into a pile and start making something that looks like whats in the picture.
