Oops, I joined the party late. This seems like an ideal set to me. I don't own Mace Windu yet, and I'm rather fond of astromechs. Added to that, this will be the third Jedi starfighter I own. I'm not sure what the other droid in the set is, but it looks interesting, so yay. The head reminds me of Grievous.

I saw the instructions pdf in time, but yeah, nothing special. I knew it! They are manual! Of course, it doesn't take much logic to figure that out. From memory, it seems that those are standard pieces (i.e. there isn't a smooth underside, instead, a smooth piece). That's good news for me, because personally I like the decorative bases.
-
Yeah, I agree. Was that sarcastic, by the way? I never thought of there being a motor inside. Maybe my idea is also too complex. I always thought that it was just manual (like knocking and spinning the bases into each other). Either way, I hope the base is compatible with pieces on the bottom. It appears to be smooth, but it would appeal a lot more to be if they had openings on the bottom. Hopefully the smooth part is a separate piece or something. Quick edit: another thing is that if the minifigs are held by magnets, it might be a bit hard to knock them over with other minifigs.

I guess so. The main reason why people may have been thinking that the colours were diverse was probably because in the first post Klaus-Dieter said that there are ninjas in colours such as violet and orange. While this could either be preliminary or a mistake on his part, maybe that could mean we will get more colours. Still, that probably was what caused it. As for how the spinners work, I think I might know one possible way. In some of the images, the feet of the minifigs sink in a little, so there's probably a centre of some sort where they're supposed to be placed. I think it might be possible that the centre also spins (maybe winded up?). That could either mean the whole bottom part spins, or just the centre. That's my theory, anyway...

Seems that I'm actually interested in City next year for once. Space is great. The buggy is pretty good because it includes an astronaut. Also, the normal police-themed sets are an improvement, because I can finally get some criminals! The new torsos and pieces are nice. The police dog car can double up as a prisoner transport, too.

Missed the link, but found another. Ramses Return might be good for gold parts (particularly those gold ores). Frog Rush and Banana Balance seem to be the best ones to me, both containing a good amount of pieces that I need (frogs, bananas and a monkey).
-
Thankfully? Maybe no-one else shares this idea, but personally I would have loved to see a team of ninjas in many different (even if unrealistic) colours. I'm fine with getting any at all, as I don't own any ninjas. I would have liked it a lot better to have many varieties, but... Anyway, looking at the catalog now (thanks for that, whoever uploaded the file), I noticed that there were new individual figures. What might the "DX" in some of their names mean? They might have different torsos, round things and weapons, but otherwise they seem the same. I'm also happy to see another skeleton added, too. Set-wise, the Turbo Shredder actually looks nice to me, sort of Space Police-like. Overall, though, if I can find the individual figures I'll buy them and skip most of the sets, only getting a few small ones here and there.
-
Hey, I just noticed something... Look at the images of the sets, and then at the individual minifigs. It seems that in the sets the torsos will have a logo on them, but in the individual minifigs they have "proper" torsos, such as robes and stuff. That's the confirmation I need, I'll be buying both the sets and the minifigs. Unlike some people, I don't mind the logo on the torsos in the sets. They're probably training clothes or something. Anyway, they don't look too bad to me, and now I won't mind having two of each type as the torsos will be different. Did anyone notice that the individual skeletons also have different faces? That's a nice little addition. The armour is also quite nice. I wonder whether I should get that dragon or the other set the white ninja comes in? They look to be similar prices, but one contains the strange faced skeleton that I rather like...

Personally, I like the mummies. I really don't look for how historically accurate sets are, because that doesn't really matter to me (with the exception of licensed themes, but those aren't exactly historical). As for the new mould, I think I may know why there is a new one. Looking at the other helmets, there's a part that extends down the minifig's back. Maybe the helmet here has got the back part removed to fit in the wings easier. Why the stud thing is missing, though, I don't know. I would rather have the gold version only to have the stud, because it looks more suited for leader mummies (generally, I assume the gold-plated characters to be the leaders ). Or at least a combination of the stud and no stud version for the more common black helmetted ones. Wait, there are in fact black versions of the studless helmet in the "sphinx" set! In this case, I assume it just to be a variant.

Indeed. Nice change, but personally it doesn't look too good to me unless you need them to function as cargo crates. I can't see them too clearly, but the police dog car and the set above look good. I hope there will be more civilian stuff. As for the space part, I really like the new astronaut look with the Atlantis helmet recoloured. It looks different, and works well. I'll probably end up getting the shuttle, so I hope it comes with more than just one. I also want to see what the buggy is like. I hope for more astronauts.

Hmm. I rather like the coffin piece in the pyramid set (and it's got a gold cover!), but I don't think it comes in any other set. I may get the pyramid depending on its price. About one third of the actual pyramid is just the baseplate, so I wonder if it will be in my price range. Those Anubis helmets (or heads, but hopefully helmets) are quite nice as well. It better be a full pyramid...

I agree. I probably won't get it either way though, which is a shame as it looks to be the best looking out of the three new minifigs. I always thought it was part of the headpiece (meaning the back). I still think it's that case. I wouldn't be too surprised if the arms were different, as we've seen modified hands for claws already. Looking at alternate angles, though, I'm pretty sure that that's part of the head (the angle is best in that temple set). I think the new creatures are okay, but too bulky and have a little too much detail. The crab/lobster one looks fine though. The colour scheme change is welcome, though. I personally prefer the variety between colours from green to yellow.

Actually, no. Because most sets are fairly small, I can get each of the four ninjas from sets without breaking the budget too badly (with the exception of the white one, but the dragon interests me somewhat anyway). Assuming I can actually find those separate ones, though, I'm not sure whether I want two of each type as I'd buy them for the weapons. Admittingly, I could easily save money just by buying the individual minifig...
-
Bad time to go overseas... very bad time. I'll just wait for images to resurface.
-
Oh no. This is starting to be a disappointment, but not for the reasons you're all criticising. I simply think there aren't enough variants of ninjas. I seriously thought there would be multicoloured ninjas and stuff, instead of just four varieties... I stil reserve my judgement about those small minifig packs. Might be useful for getting more skeletons and weapons, but I do not want to get multiples of ninjas. Well, I might. Depends, really. I would still prefer to get the sets though, but the weapons are pretty good and I sort of like those bases. Unlike quite a lot of you, I really hope that there are more waves of this to come.

Now that I've seen the pictures, I think that the sphinx doesn't appeal too much any more. I hope the set with the biplane contains two of those flying mummies (preferably more, but I can't see any more mummies). I can't tell if the one at the top is part of the set, though I think it probably is. I may get two of the motorcycle set because I want to stock up on mummies. I also hope the cobra set contains more than one.
-
I don't know. The oversized head seems to be the only similarity to me. Something interesting to note is that the fins extend rather far down the torso almost to the bottom of the whole minifig. Might be a bit hard to stand because of this, and it looks even more absurd due to that. Although I won't be getting it, one thing that will improve the temple set drastically is if there were more columns. I know it's meant to be ruined and everything, but it looks too small (ironically, as it's pretty large for my standards) and plain. Some other sets contain pieces of ruins, and I'm guessing that the pieces are collectible and you can combine those pieces with this set so it will appear more complete. That sounds like an interesting idea. The trouble with that, though, is that the set is visibly small and combining them won't really be possible without some extending. Either way, the fragments will still be useful to me even without the temple. If the temple falls into the same price tag as the Gateway of the Squid set (which I doubt, but still), I may end up getting it on clearance. I just hope that the crab warrior is in a smaller set.

Yay, there are two factions like I said. I'd rather have some sort of fantasy element than another human (if you can call it that) faction, so this is good. What's the scarab shield, by the way? Is it an actual scarab, or some structure featuring one? Perhaps you might be talking of "Attack of the Scarab", which seems like the most appropriate set here as it should feature a scarab somehow. While I'll like mummies and warriors and stuff, I can't really think of many other interesting minifigs we may get to see. Also, I've just noticed that collectible things are present in the sets. Maybe this will follow a similar vein to Atlantis, with the explorers collecting things to operate something.
-
Didn't check hard enough, then. I just noticed that the statue's helmet is actually the one from the collectible minifig. I thought it was the guardian helmet. Although I should get two new minifigs out of the new wave, I still would like the portal guardian, which I hope will be in a set. I still hope the squid warrior will also be in a set, but I can get that fairly easily, provided it's on clearance.
-
Well, I clearly wasn't. Anyway, either with the spare antenna I don't think it will be able to support itself very well. Of course, modding it is a possibility.
-
Yay! Now I will have minifig-sized mummies to go with my microfig ones! I wonder what the new game is like? I could probably combine these sets with Indiana Jones sets, because they seem fairly similar...
-
Well, by the sounds of things, it sounds to me that they aren't randomised like the collectible minifigs were. Imagine getting what you think is a full set, except you find multiples of one colour. Not a very nice thought, unless you do want an army of purple ninjas... I've just interpreted something differently after reading the description again. I think it may be possible that there are three types of sets here: individual minifigs, something for using the minifigs as a game (they were described as being like trading cards) and the sets themselves (which probably feature a few variants per set). Well, I'm confused. I'll try to get a full set for the sake of completeness.
-
This certainly seems to be looking up for me quite a bit! Basically, what is being said is that there are sets featuring the minifigs, as well as the minifigs by themselves. At least, that's how I interpret it. So what this means is that I can buy all the cheap sets, and possibly buy the rest of the minifigs in separate packs to have a full collection. This now sounds perfect, although I hope the separate packs are mass-produced, unlike the collectible minifigs, which I've already given up on permanently. If this is the case, I hope that there will be multiple minifigs in each set. About the skeleton with the Wehrmacht-like helmet, I'm guessing this may be a grey version of the Toy Story army men helmet. Sounds like a useful piece to have.
-
Well, that temple looks nice, but I won't get it at this rate. No mention of the squid warrior! Unhappy face. Perhaps I'll wait until Gateway of the Squid is on clearance and see if I can quickly snap one up. The new minifigs are good, though. The angler fish warrior reminds me a bit of that Space Police alien (the new blue one, also with an oversized head). The hammerhead sounds a tiny bit like Squidman (also Space Police). I hope it's a new head mould altogether, because I don't think that head will work... I see a treasure key! I almost have all of them except for the yellow one, so I may be able to save a bit if it's available in another set. Finally, the helmet which is included in the Anglerfish Attack set is sort of useless without a wearer. The Drill Submarine has "golden armament pieces". Is this more gold armour? Again welcome, but useless at the same time...
-
I saw this last night too. It seems interesting enough. I hope we'll get mummies and stuff like that. From the names of the sets, I'm gathering that there are some explorers or something and another faction against them. Hopefully, this other faction is completely fictitious and doesn't comprise of people. By the looks of things, I'll get the four cheapest ones, and maybe the Sphinx if it's model-worthy.
