LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3 discussion
Delta 38 replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Wow. I've never seen hair printing before and hadn't noticed it on the minifigs up until now. Oh, and in case anyone's confused, the system's actually comprised of raised bumps so it might be a bit harder to know exactly what you're looking for. The image first shown (also on the front page) shows the bumps after they've been marked. It was a nice try on Lego's part, but it's still not going to help keep confidentiality. Although I would prefer see-through bags, they might be worse. Last week I managed to get a Spartan from what appeared to be a looted box, and it's possible that whoever last bought from it forgot to take it. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3 discussion

No! Don't frontpage this, or they'll remove any identification systems altogether! Only joking, but seriously, I'm almost certain they changed the system because we have been using (exploiting?) the barcodes. Now that there are dots instead, they're more obscure to average people. Still, I expect them to change it soon enough. We can only blame ourselves however complicated the identification system gets. Personally, just finding minifigs at all is a challenge. -
If you put it that way, what's the point of tops when there's always the cards? More logically, though, what's the point of both when there are actual sets? It's almost certainly to add extra gameplay value, because trying to knock over minifigs just by spinning yours into others isn't too interesting. Personally, though, I do like those bases used for spinning. I won't use them that way, though.

REVIEW: 7327 Scorpion Pyramid
Delta 38 replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
This review definitely boosted my view of this set. The minifigs (particularly the mummies) are great, and the pyramid itself looks pretty good. Still, it's quite expensive, and I'll probably skip it. Hopefully we'll see the minifigures elsewhere. -
General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
Delta 38 replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
Wow. I leave for three days and something like this is confirmed. Great news. I'm not much of a pirates fan nor a fan of the movies, but I have missed out on previous pirates lines and won't pass this up. Not to mention that there'll probably be Atlantis-styled creatures and detailed sets! -
Hey, I didn't notice that. That's pretty cool. I did not expect the sphinx's underside thingy to be removable. I probably haven't taken a good look at it. The thing I don't like most about it is the legs and transforming ability, I'd say. It's too bad, because it includes a fairly nice vehicle. Yay, 500th post. Edit: I'm also a knight now, it seems. That's nice.

Are there two new keys? I can only see the one in the temple set.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3 discussion
Delta 38 replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yeah, two is definitely the maximum for me. I completely missed series one, but surprisingly I've found a small pocket of series two over here. I got five different minifigs, and one duplicate due to lack of attention. Series one and series two were fairly close, but then again, the second series was probably a little rushed because the first series was released late. I expect there to be one wave of minifigures for each major wave of sets (i.e. summer and winter waves). Anyway, back to the minifigures, there are definitely some useful parts. If there will be no way to distinguish minifigures apart, it will be hell to collect them. In this wave, though, multiples might not be too big a problem. -
Yeah, good point. I don't mind too much either way, it's just a bit confusing. I don't know either. It seems that it might have been cancelled. I'm now interested in this set because it would probably work well with the dojo set, and also includes multiple wooden dummies (tan skeletons?).
-
Then again, we all need to remember that they actually weren't taunting us at all. Those are confidential pictures and generally speaking none of us should have looked at them unless we specifically needed to. Personally, I'm more annoyed at the droid carrier's colour scheme, which was much better in the prelims.
-
An example (probably the only one I can think of at the moment) would be the skeleton with the motorcycle. Originally it had a black helmet, which was later removed (page 28). The armour colour also changed to red, I think. That image looked pretty final, but then on the next page the box shows the original skeleton with helmet. I know the first time was a preliminary image, but still... About the new sets, the small impulse-sized set is rather nice if you want to collect multiple ninjas, which I now plan on doing. It's a bit more practical than buying multiple individual ninjas or the other sets. The arena set isn't too special, though I like the left part which might go well with the dojo set.

Nice review. I didn't see the mouth print coming, and it's a little strange considering that the head already has a jaw. I just thought of something. Since most sets have a gold collectible in them (in this case a helmet), there should be a kind of buildable minifig that you can make from the collectible parts, similar to that statue. There is also gold armour in another set, so it would probably be logical. Unfortunately, they seem to only be for decoration.
-
Yeah, I see your point. It just doesn't seem very likely to me. Are those jackal heads actually heads or are helmets? I originally assumed they were helmets, but I now think they're heads.
-
I rather like it. Maybe it's just me. Either way, I get virtually any Star Wars set there is these days, so meh. As for the jetpacks, I don't really mind either way although I do agree that it looks kind of strange to have Mandalorians without them. For some reason, those bomb squad troopers are growing on me. There's a lot of nice orange printing, and plus orange is my second favourite colour.
-
Chocolate! Well, the first was Star Wars and the second was from a criminal. The third I don't recognise, but in this case we have a good character, so I doubt it is blood. It still is too dark and brownish for me to classify as blood, though.
-
Good idea! Why didn't I think of that? It will be costly though, but I do want three or four of each now that you mention it. Are these final? The skeletons and package designs keep changing.
-
Hey, that reminds me, whatever happened to the skeleton bowling (or whatever it was called) set? After we saw the first prelim, it was gone in the catalog and now gone here. Although I don't plan on getting it, it's a bit strange. Maybe the set was cancelled or moved, though I kind of doubt a set would be cancelled. Something that I think is a little strange is that some of those cards depict skeletons that don't exist in the sets, such as the skeleton with the helmet. It's even stranger to note that some of these skeletons don't exist individually either.

The clone battle pack is getting even better now. Wow! More leg printing! Yay, I was right. Or at least, I'm right for the moment. The green on the commander's helmet doesn't seem to match the torso and leg armour's green. I hope this is just an illusion of light. Also, the ARFs helmets have some minimal but nice printing. Might be better if they had a different torso, but I don't know if it's meant to be the same. Yay, more pistols in the Mandalorian battle pack. Better because I'm getting two. I hope in either the clone or Mandalorian battle packs there are those helmet attachments (preferably black). That would pretty much be all I need for now.

Great, as before. I'm starting to have second thoughts about getting the dog car because it doesn't have a prisoner minifig, which I am in need of. Either way, nice images, though they have stayed mostly the same. I'd like to see clearer images of the space subtheme though.
-
Wow, that was fast. Anyway, I like the new details in the pyramid. It's a shame that the pyramid is still the only set containing the sarcophagus piece. On second thoughts I may get the sphinx set. I just realised that the sphinx set should come with some of those jackal-headed mummies, which would have made it more appealing to me. Also, the mummy in the cobra set has a tan headdress now, which is a bit of a shame as I thought it was going to be gold. Still, it has some nice snake printing.

New key! New key! I really want to get the temple set, in part because of the crab and statue minifigs but also because of the new treasure key. I haven't even finished getting the current ones, but still. I'm neutral about the new colour scheme for the minifigs as the diving outfit is now a lighter shade of grey. I like the switch to yellow though. Also, I like the addition of a shield featuring a key in the set with the walker. It will go well with the statue if I do end up getting the temple.
-
Hmm. I'm a tiny bit disappointed, but anyway, these are the main things that I'm not really that happy about. There's no variation of ninja torsos between sets and individual ninjas (see prelims, they were different before). I've made up my mind that I'm almost definitely going to get the training set, because it has a revamped minifig and because it looks nice. Did anyone notice the black and purple samurai minifig in the fortress? I might get the fortress, but I'll probably wait for the next wave if there is one. Also yay, new arms! Instead of them being bent sideways like previously seen, some have upwards-pointing hands. I'm not sure if I'll get the individual ninjas now, but I will definitely get at least one of each skeleton.
-
Oh, so that's what the individual minifigs are like. Nice, in this case I might be able to get them!
-
Wow, those bomb squad troopers look great! They have orange helmets (at the front and back) with an improved diamond design. Plus, the leg printing isn't just flat orange at the front; there's a small portion of white thrown in. Even though they do stand out, I hope this will mean leg printing for clones and stormtroopers. Edit: gasp! All four mandalorians have jetpacks!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3 discussion
Delta 38 replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Oh, I see. That makes it somewhat easier for them. I barely got two minifigs of series two today (could have gotten more, but didn't have barcodes or time). Still, I think that the whole collectible minifigs line is going way too fast. One wave per year is a lot better than two or more in my opinion. They're too hard to find and get already as they are. Quick edit: not to mention that they're three or four dollars over here!
