Hey, I just noticed something... Look at the aliens in the images. They appear to be different than the one we saw earlier. On the first page, you can see that their heads are elongated, and they have sticking-out eyes. The abduction set has a pretty good view of the alien head from the front, and it is definitely not the same head as the alien seen earlier. Hopefully, this will mean that there are various styles of aliens in the sets, which are all part of the same group but look different. I can't tell if the circular base of the mothership is just a large gap or made of large transparent pieces. Probably a large gap, unfortunately. The helmet in the smallest set is also confusing, because it appears different to the others. Hopefully it's a blue hazmat helmet, or a new helmet altogether. I'm now certain that the tripod's design is definitely taken from the Spider droid. It's too bad I don't have the Spider droid though, because it might be possible to make a large hybrid one or something. The tripod is definitely smaller, though, and it's good that it comes with a saucer as well. Edit: Oh, and about the battlepack, I don't think it's a minifigure pack. Would civilians be included if it was one? You can't really build an army like previous knights or skeletons with them either. Also, the original post mentioned that the aliens had different heads, so my theory is probably correct.

Well, here are my thoughts about the sets... The Podracers contain at least one Jedi (maybe Obi-Wan as he has a blue lightsaber). It would have been nice if there was a Tusken in the set, because I remember there was one scene with them in it. The Sith Infiltrator seems to have Padme in it (who else would be wearing blue?) and someone else, hopefully Qui-Gon. Finally, the Dathomir speeder has the word "new" next to the minifigs, so I'm guessing that most, if not all, will be new minifigs. I'm not sure about the other sets, but I see the word "starfighter", so it's probably the Geonosian starfighter. The set pictured doesn't look a lot like it though. The small set on the top looks vaguely like the Ewok set. Anyway, nice find. The rumoured sets listed on Brickset might be interesting, though I think we've had enough of Hoth. A Naboo starfighter would be great, though, particularly with the sudden switch to the first movie with the Podracers and Sith Interceptor.

Ah, I see. Cue hyperventilation. It seems that those sets are indeed real, however, it's a shame that the temple and fire dragon aren't separate. This is going to raise the prices quite a bit, so I may skip it. There are also spinner sets for Sensei Wu (seemingly with black outfit! Yes!), two new skeletons (probably the big-headed ones) and Garmadon. The blacksmith set may be interesting...

My thoughts exactly. Overall, this is great. Actual classic-styled flying saucers (as opposed to strange vehicles mainly comprised of rockets) complete with new aliens and a nice colour scheme! Is it just me, or is the "tripod" a lot like a recoloured three-legged version of the spider droid released earlier in the Star Wars lineup? It's a shame the tripod isn't like one of the War of the Worlds ones (flatter disc head). I do like the presence of civilians being abducted and stuff, which makes it really seem like an old sci-fi movie. I want every set from the first page, plus maybe the alien mothership. Despite all the other themes I'm interested in, I can't resist having a proper alien army to terrorise my minifigs.

Review: 2257 Spinjitzu Starter Set
Delta 38 replied to tin7_creations's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Yay, there is a grey katana in this set! I'll definitely get it now. It's too bad about the plastic, though. Is it the whole skeleton (minus head)? -
What about City's space subtheme? They fit the "classic" description better, and they will be released (though earlier than this theme). The catalogue is for both waves of next year, I think.
-
Well, nice to finally see the frigate, but now I'm almost certain it's out of my price range. Oh well...
-
Ah. My mistake, I didn't see that. I still prefer the dojo set. Or perhaps they wanted to make realistic colours (ironically). I still think that colours such as brown, green, grey and dark colours could be integrated easily into the lineup. They're not too flashy so elements could be introduced fairly easily; stone, air, water... Green ninjas are probably the most realistic considering the colours though, and so is brown. And with the discussion about female minifigs, I think there should just be more in general. What role they play doesn't matter too much for me, though there is a gender inequality issue involved here.
-
I have no idea why, but my second concern underneath getting enough ninjas is the type of katana they'll each have. Since the switch from octagonal hilts to square, I've started to think that octagonal ones are worse because they're older. The colours are also fairly scrambled, with some katanas switching between silver and dark grey. This is possibly one of the very few advantages of the expensive clear packaging, because you can see exactly what is inside. I hope there will be a lightning dragon since I've become obsessive about those too. It could be a possibility, because we know that every DX figure is available in sets (arena, ATV, ice dragon and skeleton training sets). If the images we saw some time ago are actually real images of the next wave, then most of the DX figures have appeared twice. Wait... Sensei Wu's only in the dojo set, isn't he? Either way, I'll stick to getting that. But yes, the price expansion isn't good.

Thanks for the new images! The Battle for Geonosis is still okay since it has Luminara and Rex. The proton cannon thing still doesn't look quite right, though... it's probably just me. The tactical droid looks great, but I think the head is too small (even though this is probably more proportionally accurate). The Astromech is great, but it seems to be lacking in printing. Finally, the starfighter still reminds me of a computer-generated image because it's so plain. It's a bit ironic that I'm complaining after good images surface, but there are some good things I didn't notice. The starfighter's three parts are more covered, for example. It might distort the shape further, but at least the gaps are less noticeable.

Hmm... Ki-Adi Mundi can only be done with a new head mould, I think. Nothing else will look or feel right. The elongated head that we've seen in custom minifigs and even in Lego Star Wars videogames indicate that he's probably been overdue for a long time. I don't like Darth Maul's standard head (or Sugi's) but I think that may be the only option. Recently, however, there seem to be many head "accessories" (which are actually meant to be part of the head), so it could be possible that Maul has a normal (hornless) head and additional horns if you don't want the hood to be on. Unfortunately, it's probably too late for something like this to apply to Sugi as I don't like printed horns that much. Maybe the new head could just mean new printing? It would be nice if Maul's ship (assuming it exists) includes Qui-Gon and Anakin (maybe also Obi-Wan if he was in that scene). I don't own any of those, and they're a good way to add more playability to the set.

This managed to slip past me. Hmm.. Space Police gave me a rather large collection of aliens, and I thought I had enough. This is making me rethink that. I'm guessing that the alien shown might be the main species/enemy focused on, and that maybe other aliens in the theme are variants, different ranks or something. Well, overall I have no idea whether I'm going to like this or not. I like sci-fi stuff, but Space Police has mostly filled my need for that. If it's drastically different, though, I might be interested. Edit: actually, wait. If this theme is mainly an organised alien invasion instead of freelance space criminals, I'll probably be interested.

Well, the bank looks a lot better, but I did like the older dark colour scheme. It looks more realistic this way, though. Are the green suitcases meant to represent large stacks of money, or something? I'm a bit confused. I like the credit card piece though, it's more practical than carrying around a $100 note. I wonder if the bank will be affordable (to my standards). It would be nice to get an affordable bank and an affordable prison set. I wouldn't normally be interested in City buildings, but those two would be exceptions.

Has Sensei Wu's printing changed again, or is this just an alternate torso for the sake of advertising? I prefer this one (obviously) as it has more details and looks better. Hopefully we'll get this version. Garmadon is interesting. His face looks like an Asian-styled dragon/lion/mythical creature, which I hadn't really noticed before. I think the torso still could do with some work, though. I also prefer this staff, and I think this might be the final version of it. Nice lightning piece, too. I don't think I'll be getting the fortress set, though, so I'll hold my breath and see if he's released in a future set...

Review: 7985 Temple of Atlantis
Delta 38 replied to Etzel's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Hmm, there are more parts that I anticipated. Looks like a great display set with nice minifigs, but I may wait until sales to see if there are any left over at a cheaper price. -
I get your point. Currently I get any Star Wars set in my price range, even if I don't particularly like the vehicle itself. It's not always for minifigures, though I do like my extensive amount of them. Still, I don't think the design can be improved without a complete redesign. For the shape and Astromech's placement to be closer to the actual thing, it would have to be larger. The back would probably also need to be reworked, with maybe a new cockpit piece and a new fin piece. To have an accurate design, they would basically need to replicate the UCS starfighter released this year in smaller scale. I don't think all these changes will be very likely in the near future, and personally the only things that bother me is the Astromech placement and the cockpit. Maybe I've got low standards.
-
Nope, better colours definitely would. Sure, there's not a lot of detailed printing or even stickers, and the overall shape is still bad, but the colour is definitely my main complaint. Even if starfighters are released with the same shape, it's an opportunity to get missed or new Jedi, new Astromech droids, and more colourful starfighters if you have a collection. I missed getting that shuttle with Mace Windu in it, and I would have bought it. However, this is a cheaper alternative with good minifigs and another starfighter for my other two, however bland it is. While I'm on that topic, how likely is it that Anakin and Obi Wan's starfighters are remade? I missed both, and it's been a while since they've been out. Hopefully it's a possibility next year, though I know most people will complain once they see the bad shape returning.
-
As expected, great Astromech and figures but fairly bland starfighter. The colour scheme is way too bland for me. I hope more colourful ones are made in the future. I'll probably buy it regardless, though I would like better ones in future.
-
Sorry to go back to availability, but I want to just add something. I have a catalogue similar to that one, and if it is the same as mine, then the date might only be for Australia/New Zealand. I expected a later release, but it seems that it's going to be out next month here.

I did think that the dojo and related sets joined, but I didn't think of that. The dojo and the Skeleton Bowling sets look like they connect to create a base for the spinning game (similarly to the arena set, except in two parts). Now that I have larger images (and have had some time to think over this), I'll probably be getting the temple set regardless of how much they stuff up my plans. It's a rare opportunity to finally get a base for my long-awaited ninja army, so I may as well jump for the opportunity. Of course, as I said earlier, if it does ruin my plan, then I'll need to buy extra spinners or other sets. The lack of a lightning dragon disturbs me. I hope the rumours are true, otherwise I won't get any of the dragons at all. That new vehicle (a monster truck is probably the closest description of it) seems to be for Garmadon as his staff is connected to it and it seems a bit too large for any other character to be driving it.
-
I've been a bit behind in news, but anyway... Wow, those Mandalorians are... well, not horrible by my standards. However, the faces are bad, and somewhat scary. I would have preferred if they had Clone heads (which would have been bad enough canon-wise), but now they look worse. The thin armour is also sort of annoying, as they look weaker. Just something interesting, the Geonosis set was listed in a catalogue thing under the name of "Genesis Innovation". A very strange typo, which I assume was meant to be "Geonosis Invasion". Maybe that was meant to be the set's original name, or something. Either way, I'll be hunting for it next year now that I know that it will definitely be here (and not disappear like Cad Bane's speeder this year, which originally seemed to be excluded when it suddenly appeared a few months ago).
-
I've been looking at Ninjago for too long and didn't realise this! Maybe we'll get them in the next wave.
-
And with that, a couple of hundred plans are destroyed. Ouch, my wallet... I'm hoping that these are either very good custom MOCs or official display sets (not for sale, basically). I may just throw my perfectionist army plans out the window with those dragons, though. One or two dragons are okay, but resisting a whole lineup is rather hard. I see a new strange looking skeleton and a black version of Sensei Wu, but otherwise no new figs yet. I'm a bit puzzled as to why Garmadon is on the fire dragon. It's hard for me to sort out what is real and what is just part of the background. Anyway, I'm not entirely convinced I'm going to get the next wave assuming these are real. I want a round number for my ninjas, so if those spinner packs aren't still available then, I'm going to buy virtually every set to make numbers even again. Oh, and with the names on the back, I don't really mind much. We can't have everything.
-
You beat me to it, and with higher resolution images than mine. Oh well. This is good. I want the DX figure and the skeletons, plus the set itself can go well with the others. Maybe you can connect them, which would really help the overall appearance. Something that's made me nervous is the fact that there are a lot of limited edition or rare sets, including the other spinners (DX figures, Nya and Nuckal). This set and the arena set are also in this category, while the ATV isn't in my catalogue. Looks like I'm going to need to hunt a lot for these. Now with the re-emergence of this set, I'm pretty much happy with Ninjago if I can get everything. Of course, if there are new variations of figures or new colours altogether, new waves would be great, but I'm happy with just this wave.
-
It might be like those Power Miners animations advertising sets, since it clearly advertises one. Oh noes, seeing that review, I've now realised that I need to completely change my plans since there are dark grey katanas. This is very bad for my plans unless there are dark grey katanas in the two-pack spinner set. Maybe I'm insane because of my obsession to get all katanas in the same colour. It's my main concern before the sets are released over here.
