  1. Unless I'm looking at old pictures, I don't see any variation with the minifigure itself. As others have said, it's probably another case of naming a new character just because of a different weapon. Maybe the head is different, though, but I haven't seen any episodes so I don't know what they're meant to look like. I have a feeling Lego's going to treat them as Clones, similarly to the Senate Commandos.
  2. Well, I was the person concerned. It's about time I saw the movie for myself, too. Somehow I expected it to look like an opening for a cartoon or something. In the first part of the video, we see the four DX ninjas. We haven't seen a blue DX ninja yet, and the dragon pattern varies, I think, as it was pointed out from an earlier image. Maybe it's just me, but I didn't see any names, though I did see small back printing. I guess I was looking for other things...
  3. The new head looks quite nice. Is that a treasure key in the visor thing? Nice detail. I'm not surprised that the statue has an alternate head, but it's too bad that the armour, helmet and the minifig's colour don't match up. It's also too bad that we don't see any of the previous minifigs. I don't have the portal guardian or squid warrior, and they could be suitable in future sets, but looks like I'll miss out this time. I really like the crab minifig now that I see it better. Must get the temple now.
  4. Yeah, that's what I meant. It looks completely different from the beard we normally get though, so that adds more value to it. In hindsight, maybe the overpriced spinner packs are good. I seriously hope this means that people won't try to build armies like I will by buying up all of them. I expect them to be around $20 over here, with which you could get a battle pack with instead and get four minifigs instead of just one. Oh, I guess I am said "someone". Well, if there was no back printing mentioned, I assume that means there was no back printing. Either way, the headgear should block out printing, so whether there is any or not it shouldn't matter much.
  5. I'm okay with Ninjago being used so much as I like the line myself. I don't know how likely an advent calendar for it would be, though. As for Pharaoh's Quest having an advent calendar, I think it could work. Imagine opening a coffin-shaped flap and seeing a mummy there. It could work for aesthetic purposes, and I can visualise what it would look like. I agree that the other stuff might not be too good, though I would probably prefer an advent calendar for this line instead of Ninjago (because it would mess up my army building plans unless it included rare figs). As for the coin bank, I should have expected the cardboard. Oh well, I probably wouldn't be able to find it anyway. I didn't know they sold those in stores, but then again, given my location...
  6. Hey, cool. It looks like a good container, too. Anyway, nice MOC.
  7. Hey! I think Doctor Who would make a good theme, though. Sets focused on different episodes and enemies might be nice. Back on topic... Wow, I didn't notice how different the beard piece was until now. It's made up of... three things (I don't know what else to call it. ) The torso also has a small symbol on it which is usually obscured, which is a bit of a shame as it's not very noticeable, but of course the beard would block it if it were any bigger. It seems that this theme is featured quite prominently in that calendar. Not surprising given the scale (a card game, collectible minifigs and tops, a rumoured movie and so on).
  8. Interesting. I like the torso, but I agree that the pistol might look better if it was recoloured or changed, though admittedly I have no idea what it's actually supposed to look like. Reminds me, didn't Mega Bloks have a Pirates of the Caribbean line some years back? This probably won't happen to lines such as Halo Wars, which I do like but refrain from buying. I didn't think of the rapier being used here, though it's probably a logical step. Another glimpse of the future using collectible minifigs, perhaps? It's happened quite a bit recently.
  9. I'm not much for larger City sets or buildings, but that bank is nice. I'd prefer it more if that armoured van was released separately, though, because that's probably the highlight for me. Nonetheless, the bank itself is nice despite how plain it may be. I don't think the set will fit into my price range though, which is a shame.
  10. I like them, but maybe that's just because I like more detail. They might look better if they were in grey or something, though. Unfortunately, the ARF doesn't have printed legs. If they're going to make printed legs for the other two, they might as well just create printed legs without markings for regular Clones. A bit annoying, but the bomb squad troopers and commanders will be the highlight of my collection anyway, so it doesn't matter if they do stand out. I don't need printed arms, but I think printed legs is necessary.
  11. Ah, okay. That was what I thought too. I'm guessing the uncoloured ones are dents and the coloured ones are bumps, but I'll actually need them here. Still, nice to know that the system isn't as hard as previously thought. Some quick input on the ethics issue: while I don't mind people using charts to identify minifigs, I don't like others hoarding particular minifigs or buying them to sell later. I only want one of each minifig (with the occasional two or three for those I liked) for myself, not to sell as a complete set online or something. Unfortunately, lots of people don't play by the same rules, and availability here is already quite low. Barcode scanners are a little cheap too, as it takes significantly longer if you don't have a capable device to scan them with. Still, I'm happy to hear that the production has been ramped up, though I hope quality won't be sacrificed in the process.
  12. Just a quick question... Brickset has a guide to identifying series 3, but does anyone know what the coloured and uncoloured dots mean? I'm almost sure I know what they mean, but I want to be sure so I can prepare to get them next year.
  13. What, really? I thought the sumo had another gold one. I don't have any of them, and plus I want all three figures, accessories aside. I definitely want the karate guy who I haven't found, and by the looks of it, won't be appearing. It seems that collectible minifigures often go places that normal sets or themes can't. There are a large array of ordinary people that you should expect to find in cities, such as the painter, but we don't get in actual City sets. We only get generic civilians in most cases, but that can change. We've seen potential to introduce figures like these into normal sets, but so far I don't think many have made it. Even a hazmat guy could make it into sets with some "chemicals and waste" subtheme or something. Space stuff is a bit strange to include in City, so why not introduce hazmat stuff too? Finally, I don't know how hard checking series 3 minifigs is, and exactly how the system works beside bump placement. Assuming it's easy once you've gotten the hang of it though, it might be better to keep this method. Less people will loot boxes and they'll be more opportunities for those who missed out almost entirely like me.
  14. Oh no! Not again, I can't catch up! I have to admit, though, series 3 and 4 are really good. I hope they're widely available here, as series 2 is effectively extinct around my area and series 1 never appeared. So many new parts! Guitar, mohawk and paint palettes which aren't custom? Amazing. I love the hazmat guy, the artist, the scientist, the musketeer and the hockey player. The others are quite nice too, particularly the Japanese girl, which might go well along with the Japanese minifigs from other series and my future Ninjago army. Yeah, these are all must-haves, but for now I'll devote my energies in getting series 3 and hunting for 1 and 2.
  15. On closer observation, yeah, I think you're right. They look a bit too thin to be separate. Still, before finalised and higher resolution images, I don't recall seeing the underside on those bases, so that's interesting. There are many "interesting" things in this line. For example, cards being available in some sets (the dojo set), which I would never have anticipated. I think it will probably be likely that there will be card packs, and perhaps even minifig packs to put on the spinners, or something. I wonder if this line is too ambitious? The sets themselves are great in my opinion, though.
  16. Okay, now that I get to see the arena set in higher resolution, I've taken an interest in the set. The main reason for that is the katana holder featuring one of each type. There's a black katana for the ninja in this set plus an additional gold katana that I'll need for Nya. I can finally have an army of each type with identical katanas now, yay! The bases are great too, as I normally would rather get individual figures for their bases than get actual sets. In this case, I can get bases, katanas and a DX figure without too much trouble. I didn't notice it before, but the bases seem to be made up of two main parts. There's the studded circular base (the useful part) and a smooth underside which I believe is clipped on. It looks better with the underside in my opinion.
  17. That sounds pretty interesting. It is made with Lego pieces though, right? It might be nice if it included minifigs, but I don't think it will be sold over here, so it doesn't affect me too much.
  18. So now it's confirmed that every magnet pack will be glued? Not to laugh at the expense (pun ) of others, but this is good news for me. I could easily have saved hundreds if magnets were available in stores. Now that this is confirmed for all lines, this means I can continue buying stuff without regretting spending extra money. On the other hand, though, if battle packs were removed (possibly due to Hasbro), I would be extremely disappointed. I still want a Clone army.
  19. Wow. The Clone battlepack appeals more and more each time I see it. The ARF has nice printing, and the bomb squad troopers look great, no matter how illogical a squadron of them might be. I can't tell if the helmet is open or closed in the V-Wing. It looks closed, but the angles say otherwise. Strange.
  20. Wow, this image has made my day. Thanks! This is great, a DX version of the red ninja with spinner and a gold katana! Totally must-get. Even if the minifig is available separately, I'd rather have this. The ATV is quite nice.
  21. Wow! Purple treasure key and printing on statue minifig! Interesting that there's a face on there, but if you don't like it you could always turn it around. Does the temple look smaller than the portal set? I don't know, maybe it's just me, but it doesn't look as big as the portal was. Here the portal was about $160 or so, therefore I'm hoping the temple will fit into maybe the $100 range.
  22. Not to mention the names aren't particularly good either. I'd be fine with an army of Bobs (not really, but it sounds better).
  23. I don't really think people will stop discussing that. We have some information (true or not) and obviously people will be discussing the source as well as the sets themselves. Of course, I'm not saying we're meant to... As for Sebulba, the original "minifig" was one whole piece, right? If there will be a new version, I'm guessing it will follow the lines of Battle Droids and will be "built" (I can't really explain this in words, but think about it as being closer to the construction of a Battle Droid than a minifig).
  24. No, look at the front of the fortress. There's a large skull with six horns coming out of it, but if you flip it so the black piece at the front is pointing forward it becomes a spider (or insect, anyway). Hmm, I didn't notice that. The katanas look a bit strange, though, so I'll remove them and use them for figs. There appears to be a function near the door, too. A collapsing walkway maybe? Either way, it's a shame that there's nothing beyond those doors. I'll wait for the next wave, assuming there is one, and hopefully we may get an interior set to combine with this one.
  25. I'm guessing that here it would be around $15, which is fairly expensive for one minifig with extra stuff. However, it would be cheaper if you're planning to make a ninja army like I am. I just noticed something, the katana in some sets are of the old kind with the octagonal guard thing. Originally I thought it was reflections playing tricks on me, but with higher resolution pictures you can clearly see that some of them are the old kind. Piece inconsistencies! That's not very good. I hope they use the new mould when it actually comes out, because it's likely a small oversight that they didn't notice or were using as a placeholder.
