  1. 90-100 PSI of compressed air should work too. I use something like these for blowing dust off and out of things. Best to do it outside of the home.
  2. Test the slightly damped cloth on a LEGO box you don't care about? Alcohol may take some ink off. Experiment with different concentration level of alcohol and water and examine the results.
  3. 42135 with a couple of MODs
  4. Dummy AA battery adapter and a USB to 9V booster. Dummy battery adapter can be made yourself. USB to 9V boosters can be found at your local electronic shop or on Amazon, Ebay, AliExpress, etc.
  5. Recently got around to building Crocodile Locomotive 10277. Blimey, there are no stickers in the set.
  6. I think the supply voltage has to be greater than the voltage drop of the LEDs in series.
  7. It would appear that they are cuter and generally happier than CITY.
  8. Some retailers put returned products back on the shelves. One of my LUG members bought a set that didn't contain the figs for that set. Someone had removed the figs, added some other figs, carefully resealed the box, and returned it. They didn't call LEGO and brought back it to the store. It appears that too many bad or missing pieces requests in a short period of time would raise some flags.
  9. Aye, that's pretty much all to it.
  10. As a kid of the last century, I think LEGO should stick with the simple basics. It would minimize SKUs and have potential cost savings for the business. Kids have good imaginations, they can pretend them to be different colors in their little heads.
  11. There are online resistor calculators for LEDs if you don't want to work out the V=IR equations. You should know the voltage and current requirements of your replacement LEDs.
  12. Here is the inside of a light brick I took apart for a member of my LUG who wanted to change the LED to a different color one. The important thing is to make sure the polarity of the LED is correct relative to the batteries. Otherwise, the electric juice won't flow through it.
  13. Could be. I have more reddish brown break than any other color.
  14. The light bricks are very simple devices. It's basically a couple pieces of metal, a LED and a battery. I believe there is one Philips screw holding it together. Take it apart. Remove the leaked battery. Clean the metal pieces with electric contact cleaner or IPA. If the metal hasn't corroded away, install a new battery and light away.
  15. Plain acetone seem to weld LEGO pieces together pretty good.
  16. Boston has many colleges and universities too. Driving and parking in Boston is bad but the MBTA is good.
  17. I think you can also find them on shop.LEGO.com under the Pick A Brick section. Free shipping from LEGO for orders above a certain amount and VIP points. For the gear boxes, you'll have to determine if the knob gears were used because of their strength. Some Technic bevel gears can strip easily if too much torque is applied. They may not be an ideal substitute.
  18. Very nice and detailed. I see you included the dust suppression sprayers. Powered UP automation is fairly straight forward. I saw a LEGO Friends basic rotary dumper a few years ago with PU control.
  19. Basic bricks building sets. Figs weren't invented yet. Had to use mucho imagination.
  20. Could this work? -Roll the gear on an ink pad and roll it on a piece to paper to get an imprint of the teeths. -Draw longer lines and measure with protractor for angle.
  21. Would AliExpress have them? They seem to have all sorts of gears for toy and RC motors. I was able to find something that matched the pinion gear in my fired LEGO PF M-motors. Resin 3D printers may have the resolution to produce. You may have to use a tough resin.
  22. Unfortunately, stickers are a cost effective method of brick decoration. Large corporations are about minimizing costs and cost avoidance. If LEGO won't print the parts you want, you can always do it yourself with UV inkjet printing. Small UV printers are available from China for a few thousand dollars. The short burst of intense UV light to cure the ink probably won't hurt ABS plastic too much. Although, it could create free radicals in the polymers to start down the yellowing path.
  23. Avast, another bovine LUG. Welcome aboard, Evan.
  24. It is not really Christmas if there are no monkeys. Happy New Year!
