The links are 404 pages... $9.99 seems it would be like a single small car, maybe after party police paddy wagon. $99 would be more in line with the Monster Fighter Ghost Train.

As a parent, you know you own kids best when they are ready for certain things or not. You can always help them build and play if you are so inclined. My father never played trains with me. I had to learn to do everything myself.

Shape looks good. Red and green is not bad. It can work for a holiday pirate boat display.

8854 Power Crane. I had to use online instructions. It was a used sets with pieces missing. I didn't have all missing parts with exact color matched in my collection. It was a slow process to get it to look balanced with some parts in different color.
