Very nice. Looks perfect to run in a garden railway. Is that the PA7 70 license plate from the CMF crash test dummy?

Nice eatery. Having two sets of stairs at the front may confuse the customers and some may try to enter through the kitchen entrance.

My town has a "bibliothèque publique" that offers 3D printing to library card holders. They have a couple Makerbot printers. My property taxes subsidize them. I send them files to print and drop by to pick up the print job in a few days. It is a cheaper option than Shapeways. I don't print enough to justify my own printer at this time. I still have to spend the man hours creating the thing in 123D and checking with Makerbot Desktop before sending the file. Whether it printed correctly or not, I have to pay for the print time used. I think having your own printer is better as nobody else would see your mess ups.

I think you're treating cost of LEGO like a car. At the rate my automobile is depreciating, it could be practically FREE to whoever buys it, the longer I hang on to it before selling it. If you want to recover the cost you originally spent on said LEGO, you'll have to sell it or rent it out.

Thank you Cale. Nice shot. I'd be scared of fine snow powder without a weather sealed camera. No worries. I think those HHP-8 electric engines are leased. Amtrak could be keeping them around as a reserve fleet until they are returned at end of lease.

Has Anyone tried doing an Operating Session in Lego?
dr_spock replied to xboxtravis7992's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I like automated operations. I would like to eventually have some sort of automated trains running at our LUG displays. Simple stuff like trains stopping/starting at stations or cross-track of death. Nothing too complicated or involved as we have to dedicate cycles to watching and keeping little hands (or big hands) from knocking our trains over. Stanchions and signs aren't 100% effective. -
Great job. The tree is nice too.

You may find the wheels on the Friends coaster not all that free rolling. The coaster may not coast all the way back to the chain lift and stops somewhere in the curve tracks at the bottom.. You may have to MOD a bigger drop to build up enough moment to make it around or have something push the coaster from the curve back to the lift part. Good luck.

I'm guessing somebody who has gone through the Reviewer's Academy process. -

You could attempt to connect it to a pressure gauge that has higher readings. You may have to hook up an adapter that goes from small LEGO pneumatic tubing to the connection type your gauge uses. -
Does it work with older devices that only have Bluetooth 2.0? Some questions from our Train forum: 1. Will the trains stop if I leave the app or if my phone sleeps? Trains are different from RC vehicles in the sense that you can "set and forget" them on a loop. 2. Can multiple controls be linked to each output? This would allow for such things as emergency stop buttons. Speaking of which... 3. Will there be an emergency stop button? While Lego train crashes can be impressive, it would be nice to have a quick way to stop the train. 4. Will this have the 2-hour timeout limit that Lego battery packs have?

How do you know they weren't originated for Technics? There was a Technic farm tractor set using the same tires released the same year those CITY tractors came out.

I used a combination of stud and studless to plate my Star Wars RC clone tank for that studdy look. The frame is studded Technic bricks in an odd width. The drive train is all studless pinned to the Technic brick frame. The superstructure is a combination of stud and studless pinned together to form a frame for the plates to attach to the studded Technic bricks. It's pinned to the Technic frame using these: I also used axles and half brushings in other builds to get even to center on odd.

I think tolerances are good enough, not fantastic but workable. The person has a of monorail running on the printed track. Tolerance problems can come from the 3D printing service polishing the parts smooth which can remove some material. You could adjust your 3D object file to account for that. It's $45 to print a straight monorail track piece from Shapeways. It can be cheaper if you have your own printer. But you still have to spend time cleaning up the part after it comes out of the printer. Easier to buy some used from Bricklink.

Pirates of Brickworld Chicago 2016 (image heavy)
dr_spock replied to Capn Frank's topic in Pirate MOCs
Arr, great display. Pirate ships vs spaceships sound like fun. Maybe if disassembled. Brickworld has a couple of days for setup/rebuilding. -
