  1. Fleshies then kingdoms is better. Have you seen the village mill set? It looks very nice. I think that 2011's Kingdom's wave is at least comparable to Potc.
  2. I think one of the best things about building a ship is once it is finished and it is actually stable and stays together and then getting to show it to others. But doing LDD-only MoCs make it so you never truly experience if the build is stable or get to show it to people.
  3. Gender: Female Occupation: Zebra costume Print on torso: Black stripes Hairpiece: Zebra head Head: ninja-like black mask Legs: Also black stripes Accessories: Tail and stop sign.
  4. They stopped using Pink Sentai force members for a good while now. Girls are often yellow or blue lately.
  5. Gender: Male Occupation/print on torso: Centaur Type of headgear: Hair Type of facial expression: Arrogant Color on torso/legs: Brown/tan Accessory: Instead of normal legs, the lower part of a centaur body, similar to the horses. Gender: Female Occupation/print on torso: Medusa Type of headgear: Snaked Hair Type of facial expression: Like the tennis player Color on torso/legs: Purple/Dark blue dress. Green face Accessory: Mirror Gender: Neutral Occupation/Print on torso: Evil robot Type of headgear: Helmet Type of facial expression: Angry, ready to bring destruction Color on torso/legs: Dark silver Accessory: Sci-fi bazooka. Gender: Male Occupation/Print on torso: Fakir Type of headgear: turban Type of facial expression: Serious Color on torso/legs: white/red I have no idea Accessory: Knives and target, or flute and snake, or nail bed.
  6. If LEGO added race differentiation to non-licensed minifigs it would be Ruined Forever for me. Gender: Male Occupation/print on torso: Airport/Plane Fireman Type of headgear: None Type of facial expression: Brave Color on torso/legs: Red, a nice looking fireman uniform. Accessory: The Hazard suit, in silver I doubt it. I bet that yellow forces kids not to think of their races but allows them to identify with the figs. I am not Caucasian and it worked when I was a kid.
  7. He was clear and verbose in saying that it is what he wants. I don't see what the problem is with him stating his opinion about it. I am not sure what the issue is exactly with series 5 but I am still underwhelmed by it. It may have something to do with series 4 being very nice. I don't care if minifigs are repeats or not but they ought to be interesting and series 4 had about 10 figs that I would really like getting whereas with series 5 none really calls my attention, except for the Godzilla costume. It is always a matter of opinion. I want more space stuff with new and useful sci-fi molds.
  8. It seems there is a correlation between a new mold actually being useful and it appearing in real sets. I think for example that CM hair pieces have been appearing already in sets. Then we have the space gun, which we will soon have many of in the upcoming alien conquest theme. I have the feeling that most of the useful CM molds will go mainstream, for example, I really see no reason TLG won't start using the elf's bow or the Haz mat suit. In fact, I think that in the third wave of alien conquest (you know, since it is becoming a habit to change everything in these last waves) the agents will use the hazmat suit. Hey, who wants to bet? As long as there is random packaging, people will be forced to get the filler minifigs. The dot system seems to change with batches, and you don't always really have the chance to pick your bag. So, a series better have mostly good minifigs and not mostly filler.
  9. The Fire Dragon does come with the Temple set. (Makes the temple more expensive and the fire dragon harder to get, but well...) The monster truck. It is a trojan horse! Kids are going to buy that set thinking "OMG THE EVIL MONSTER TRUCK FROM SKELETONS" and that it is something silly and cool compliment to their cards addiction, but then, it turns out the monster truck has a Technic catapult and is basically a Technic car inside, some of these kids will get hooked forever to Technic madness.
  10. Well, even a blue top would have fixed the problem.
  11. Underwhelmed. The Mafia guy was the one I was looking up to see, but the pic looks like a black hat cowboy with a violin case :(. If only the gun would have been that typical automatic gun the stereotypical mafia member would use. And also the hat and the costume would have been much better in bley. Then we have a lot of figs I am not really interested in. Some would have been good to find during the process of the minifig I really wanted. But since there is no minifig I really want in this series, I just don't think I will even try getting its bags. Specially if, like it seems it will be, the series 3, 4, 5, and 6 bags will arrive at the same time at my store, I will be busy getting the ones in series 3 and 4, and hopefully series 6 will have something cool as well. If my store for some reason does not bring one of those four series, I am so far hoping it is series 5 ... Edit: I didn't even notice that was supposed to be Sherlock Holmes (looked more like a repeat of series 2's explorer...). Ok, maybe the pipe wouldn't have been allowed since it would 'promote smoking'. But where is the long coat? And the hat wasn't that recognizable either.
  12. It turns out that instead of large trans blue pieces, what seemed like that in the preliminary pictures were a lot of trans light blue pieces in each of the sections of the circle. I like the return of the trans green antenna, I remember suggesting those pieces to the AFOL poll last year. The tank is pretty bulky and a tank, still not sure I will get it, but my opinion has improved.
  13. Avengers would be ultimate win, but I am not sure it would happen.
  14. Mobster with gun? LEGO would not give guns the city cops, but they will make a mobster collectible fig?
  15. It would be suicidal for TLG not to make a Mill set, or just forget about remaking scenes from all the important scenes from PotC. I think there is a black Perl megabloks set (Possibly the boat features three pieces in total) it would be lame if TLG didn't make the black perl just because Disney made the mistake to go with megabloks years ago. You claim LEGO copied the set, I think that the proportions are completely different and somehow, LEGO managed to have more details in the building without resorting to making a huge mold for it. The effort spent in designing LEGO's set is probably 1000 times the effort spent in the megabloks set. I've seen the Megabloks textured pieces used in this set. Besides of being gigantic and useless for anything other than the set, they look plain awful because of the textures. The so-articulated minifig pieces cannot be swapped with other minifigures greatly destroying the creativity and turning them into just smaller action figures inferior to the PoTC action figures line. The "uniquely sculpted features" are so full of the uncanny valley effect.... You get what you pay for. Less than what you pay for, actually , because considering how inferior the megabloks set is, it should cost a tenth of what the LEGO set is going to cost, but seeing megabloks' usual pricing, I bet the price difference will not be as large.
  16. I know, it is almost as if the designers intentionally added Conchman just so it had more minifigs than the bloks version. I like that. I have updated the pic.
  17. It is from the MTV official reveal.
  18. Unless the farmer is death, abduct him and make experiments with him. I thought the autopsy stuff was in regards to the aliens.
  19. That globe is lovely. These sets are looking very good. Pirates are not my favorite LEGO theme, I didn't really like PotC as a movie and I avoid licensed sets like the plague, but the designs of these sets are just excellent. Specially like that Mill. And the Castle-thing is going to be so useful even for Historic guys, and fantasy as well due to the mermaids. I think this theme is going to be a classic license like SW, Indiana Jones and Batman. And it is great to see that it didn't take LEGO much time to find a new chance to use those column pieces.
  20. Hello guys, I just wanted to get this one out of my system. It is something that I have been willing to make ever since PotC was announced because... well, I guess that most people will understand. Some stuff. a) Clear selection bias. But there are so little chances to find two sets of the same thing from two different brands... b) Megabloks can do much better than that. Let's take it more as an argument against the over-specialized pieces slippery slope (because they have such potential to turn toys into ugly things). c) Your millage may vary but this also explains why I don't like Megabloks' minifig philosophy. d) Price will probably change things up a little, I guess the LEGO one will cost thrice as much as the mega one It is mostly for fun , don't get mad at me . Edit: There it is...
  21. Sure why not. Just make some of the pieces more system compatible, and I am talking about making the figures' legs and torsos compatible with minifigs.
  22. I like it because incompatibility with classic space colors is yet another good reason not to get the human sets, that's a lot of money saved. Money that will go into the aliens' sets :)
  23. I got myself into a tragic situation. I bought a Portal of Atlantis 50% off because it was not sealed, and everything indicated the reason it was returned was lack of the second instructions book. Well, I got fooled, because although the bags were sealed and all, I didn't notice that bag 8 was missing (funny story, I thought there were two bags 6 and a bag 7 and that was the end, but it turns out one of the 6 bags was a 9, so it would have been easy for me to notice, but I failed). Anyway, this is of course not TLG's fault, but I guess this is not the first time this happens, so I was considering going to s@t and order the bricks, but that would probably be as expensive as buying a whole Portal of atlantis... I wonder if it is possible to buy the numbered bags separately? Did anyone have an experience trying so?
  24. I kind of like the big skeleton, his details are not much worse than the Power Miners' Rock Monsters and the four armed-design and torso print remind me of Mortal Kombat.
  25. Well, my experience with things like spiderman tells me that no matter how much you like a license, brick sets are not worth it if they are not LEGO. Just the visual incompatibility between the mini-figs reduces the worth of having such figs a lot, for example, in this case, what fun would there be without civilians? . But it is up to you, if you actually like those uncanny figures, go for it. I think the dalek would be much better brick-build instead of a single mold.
