I meant I cannot wait for one of them to appear now that the sets are available in some few places.

WTB picture review.

Good riddance about the chrome pieces, really. Sure, chrome looks awesome, but it is not durable. And this is primarily a children product, I think most parents will be happy that the golden stuff will no longer lose its shine after children use. And that's right, TLG could have kept the chrome, increased 5 USD in cost and kept AFOLs happy and in a perfect world TLG would have done that. But it is not, and children purchases still bypass ours by far. , Yeah, the pic shows the typical CGI effect that is used by LEGO to represent pearl gold in boxes, actually.

I have the feeling that the time machine does not really store images locally, or at least not all. In other words, if we are able to see the instructions, it is because they are still hosted at LEGO.com. TLG just closed the gate, not the windows... I like Anime-style mechas because of the knightist style, it may be related to them being my main source of exposition to mechas when young. The exo-force good guys however have been a hit or miss for me. For example, I love the sky guardian, but the blade titan, not so much. Or comparing the Aoero Booster and the stealth hunter, I think they were the best rendition to Anime-style tech. The evil guys on the other hand, are less into anime, and they have been more consistently liked by me. I think the bridge walker is very close to what you mentioned. I just think that in the future mecha theme (there will be one eventually, there is really no reason to think TLG won't do it and I think it is going to be sooner than later). They could mix styles a little, I like gundams, but some variety and having walking tanks would be nice. For example, I think this baby: Would have been so much better with a pair of bulky, orange legs.

What is the actual cost of adding "Caroline" to the set of names? I mean, really. What if a girl actually likes HF? It may happen...

You don't want another millennium falcon. But I assure you that there is plenty of people that didn't get the old one and would gladly get the 2011 version. I am not very interested in MoCs to be honest and I don't really buy sets with that primary objective. I buy sets for display. But I avoid SW sets because they are often too expensive in comparison to other sets. I am not really a SW fan. I think I liked SW because it had space ships and light sabers but any space theme would give me the same level of fun.

Wow that's impressive, not even the LEGO.com engineers expected you to get this set so soon (the AQ site does not exist yet). Nothing in the box art looks like it would have made me think the gold bars were going to be chrome. There's also nothing about the colors that are any different to what TLG have been doing for the last five years. The movies are Disney Dark... And the set looks nothing like megabloks, in order for it to be like megabloks, it would need more giant bricks with awful textures and 1 piece-minifigs .

LEGO parts made of Chinese plastic?
vexorian replied to Henchmen4Hire's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It may have something to do with the assumption that you get what you pay for. The result material, but the problems mentioned may be human. For starters there is a variance in quality - some people get problems and some other people don't. Less effective QA may be a case of either intentionally doing it poorly to reduce costs or because the people verifying quality are not qualified/motivated enough to do it correctly. Color mismatches, in some cases according to the ambassadors this was caused by poor communication between the plants. Printing errors many other things that are related to machines functioning are because of them not being calibrated correctly, or maintained correctly or designed correctly. And it also has something to do with those mistakes not getting caught before putting the bricks in boxes... In 2007 the lime green sockets turned out to be far weaker than usual and it was related to a detail in temperature when producing them. This is a result of bad supervision of the plastic procedure. Of course, it has nothing to do with China but it shows that human factor can lead to bad materials. -

Couldn't you just transport it disassembled? You have instructions... And it is a magnitude times easier to transport disassembled LEGO... I cannot disagree more with this. You are basically saying that buying something should make us unable to complain. There are two things that make me disagree. First, how can you have an informed opinion without buying the set and experiencing the quality issues? Second, since we are buying sets, we are paying LEGO's bills, we are costumers and we are entitled to voice our opinions negative or positive so that TLG know what costumers opine. Third (bonus!) there is such a thing as buying less. I would have bought two or even meltdowns instead of one but since there are color mismatches with the yellow, I only bought one just for display as the bricks are not so useful for MoCing with the color issues. -
It would have to have been a very lame April Fools joke if we didn't hear about it until the 12-th.

I'll get three of them if the exo-force arms are in the new silver. It could be that Rocka XL is the result of Witch doctor possessing Rocka or something like that. I am underwhelmed about Rocka's legs. I think HF designers should have kept the bionicle design on the legs for a couple of years until there are better HF molds and designs that work with legs. But right now, Rocka's legs are a small improvement over Fire Lord's but still look funny.

LEGO has the license on Starwars brick-built models. They can't possibly steal the idea to make a executor set from you, because they already own the idea. Whenever you have seen the image in eurobricks, it it self was hosted at cache.lego.com. You can try right clicking on the image of the set and find a link to properties, "view image info" or something like that. It will show you a popup that will say where the image is hosted. But if you want it fast: http://cache.lego.com/images/shop/prod/10221-0000-xx-12-1.jpg If you really want to be skeptical, there is always the possibility someone hacked in a MoC in there for some reason or that TLG is kidding us. I am not really sure actually.

LEGO parts made of Chinese plastic?

Color mismatches have been an issue ever since TLG outsourced color production, instead of using their own pellets like they used to do (I think this happened at the same time there was a switch to bluish-gray from gray and, probably harder to notice white bricks are also closer to blue than to yellow now, hard to explain. Regarding Chinese parts. If you really, really want to know. Get a Collectible minifig, and compare it with a minifig from a boxed set. If you watch closely, you shall find differences (not precisely issues, but differences). If it is hard for you to notice them, then get a minifig from a key chain / magnet and compare it with its precise boxed match. -
Megabloks mechs were all right but they are Aeons behind Life in Mars's mechs, for example. Then we have some mechs that appeared later like in Agents and Power miners which are much better than both Exo-force and that megabloks stuff. And the skeletal design are there because of the need to appeal to kids whilst maintaining price. Megabloks has it easy when making bulky things while keeping low piece counts- they just make giant molds for the legs and the cockpit. Exo-force didn't really die in a way that would mean it will never happen again. They had three waves, that's very decent. It is unlikely to think TLG won't make a mech theme ever again. I do hope they don't ditch to anime-ish designs for the mechs and just ditch the anime stuff when making minifigs. I like Anime-style mechas specially when done right, they could allow the bad guys have more occidentalized mechs or vice versa. Variety is best.

That is crazy, the economy will get a much needed boost due to all the SW fans paying hundreds of dollars to get one. It is most likely legit, the image is hosted at cache.lego.com.

Heh. Does it cost 100 dollars?

It is not 1980s anymore, war toys are hardly as popular as they once were. When I was a kid a realistic tank wouldn't excite me as much as a ultra sci-fi tank that hovers and has plasma weaponry. Gi-joes were a interesting toy until I learned about transformers which were cool until I learned about LEGO. I mean, compare the success of GI-Joe against just about any other big brand toy that competed with them when they started. After the 2000s it had issues to maintain store success and it instead had to become an online product targeted at the niche that was nostalgic for them. Until the movie, which turned the military-realistic GI-joe into sci-fi spy movie-style creatures and they had a mild comeback, but it is really nothing compared to Hasbro's success with transformers. They didn't even need that much of a revival. Closer example, Cobi has had a military theme for long and it didn't really steal that much of TLG's market or any at all (and this is Cobi we are talking, so quality is not really that big of a concern). I don't think the kids of today really would hype towards realistic tanks. And the main factor in sales of children' toys is the parents. The kids may love a realistic modern tank. But finding parents that love the idea of buying that to their children has become harder over the years. The intersection between kids that would prefer a realistic tank over what fantasy and sci-fi are offering us and the parents that would be willing to buy it gets smaller every day. Yes, that's true, this is the main reason they won't do a military theme. Which comes from a completely fantasy sci-fi movie. But nevertheless, consider it. What we can conclude here is that the market success in sci-fi violence like starwars and exo-force was big enough to surpass the risk of losing the family-friendly toy image. The reason that even after SW, Bionicle and Exo-Force it is still so hard for most of us to envision TLG making a military theme is that nobody really expects its market success to be big enough to surpass the risk of losing family image.. The vehicles in AQ are fantasy/cartoon styled war vehicles.

Sorry, I don't describe things accurately, it was 8058: By shark head I meant the large slope that becomes a head after teeth and the sticker are put. Regarding the train, yes, it was that set. All of the plates say 3020, but the 'bad' one uses a smaller font for the 3020. One of the good 2x4 plates says 4-69 in the right border, the other says 7-69. The 'bad' one says 13-62, but that number is at the top border instead of the right border. All the plates say © LEGO group. But the good ones have a wide separation between LEGO and group. Would be easier if I had a camera.

I wish they would start making plate bulks. Large bricks are not too useful for me, plates on the other hand... The mini creator sets are great, they tend to use nice building techniques and are very detailed for their price. But I wish they made more robots and space ships rather than staying with planes, helicopters and cars. That's just me. though. The issue I have right now is that these sets are so cute that even though I am supposedly buying them for the bricks, I can't deconstruct them. I have been noticing though that the latest ones are getting less useful bricks and are less detailed than the ones from 2007-2009. I mean, compare that helicopter set with 4918 from 2007: I have been resisting the urges to get the very big creator sets. Most of the pre-2010 ones seem to be of great value. But as long as there are exo-force and space sets in my stores, it is unlikely I'll cross that line. What I really regret is my dark age, I missed the Pod sets. They are half the cost of Mini creator sets and all of them are amazing. The pods are magnitudes more useful for storage than the vertical canisters and you can even use them as bricks.

There are no AK-47 LEGO brand toys, and I doubt there will ever be.

I think it would be great if Pharaoh's quest was a one shot quest, but the neo-adventurers characters come back for other themes to appear yearly. Imho, there is not so much to do with mummies after the Pyramid and the Sphinx. Would be nice seeing this Johny Thunder clone fighting with voodoo zombies or dinosaurs.

A disturbing trend has developed in my White Cheese Slopes..
vexorian replied to kyphur's topic in General LEGO Discussion
In my case, this is the full story: I found the mini robots set very inexpensive because it was used and opened (the bricks though were in good condition and it had instructions). So I washed the bricks using the drill I have been using for a lot of time: luke-warm water and dish wash (this is what LEGO's own instructions specify). The white cheese slopes had these split marks shortly after I built the main model together. Here's the strange thing: They are by far not the only cheese slopes I have nor the only ones I washed, but all the white ones in this set (and also white 1x1 plates ) had this issue. -
hmnn, allergies to plastic may happen, but for clone brands to trigger it on you yet not having the same issues with LEGO plastic, the clone brands would need to use very different plastic, and they do not. A very rare possibility would be if the mega bricks were painted. I've noticed megabloks painting can be very different to TLG printing. Otherwise, make sure you don't deal with used plastics before washing them. And there is always the possibility that you just fell to the power of auto suggestion.

I'll admit I am not really fond of the minifigs in this theme. The ADU officers' color still seems unsuitable for me to try to get plenty of - And it is with a lot of sadness that I notice that this is probably going to be my first chance to get many of those helmet molds, but they chose a color I don't want them in. Most Aliens have this 'brain' printing on their head that to me strikes as a little over detailing - If all of them had trans lime head like in the mothership, I would instead love them all. I'll still mass some sets because of the accessories. The guns both Alien and Human are great stuff that I will need plenty of. And if that jet pack set was not a polybag I would love to get old school jet packs in bley. Really want polybags to stop being US-Europe only. I am not even sure they are findable in Europe either. Edit: Anyone else have the feeling the 8 blue parts at back of the Jet-Copter will keep falling off?
-
Yay for yet another feature that I cannot use. At least HF won't have polybag sets. Edit: I wonder how successful recon team is goign to be. Unlike design by me this seems more targeted towards younger audiences. I guess that if it succeeds it will probably be a sort of milestone, we will begin to see recon team like features in other themes over time.
