Somehow it sounds very plausible to me. I am going to go with betting it is true. Stormer lgnd sounds like Rocka XL's replacement, and quite "cool". Also, "Core Drainer" sounds like the real big bad of the breakout arc. And tri walker could be a giant machine mook that will make the lives of the heroes' miserable.
-
Who knows? Maybe breakout could continue. Note how all the announced sets are rookies. TLG could easily get the 3 veterans and nex plus some villains. But I doubt it because stormer is such a clone of the Hulk, and if there is a second wave it would coincide with the Super Heroes' second wave, it is unlikely TLG would release two sets that are so similar to each other...
-
I meant to say: how would TLG expect to sell the sets?
-
Nah I doubt it, they had similar worder in the Super heroes announcement and there were no battle packs or individual figures for sale. If they are not including the figures exclusively in the sets, how would they expect to sell them?

Licensed sets shield themselves on minifigs and movie franchises. At least lately I would say that 95% of the licensed sets in the latest year justify their price only on the 'awesome' minifigs and their designs would be unattractive and overpriced without the minifig scape goat. The same seems to be true for 2012. There is about one super heroes set that doesn't look like an underwhelming excuse to cash in on minifigs. And even that one just so-so. The rest of the licensed sets are so completely underwhelming for somebody that doesn't really die for the movie in question that it is just sad. Licensed mini-figures allows LEGO to release an otherwise mediocre product and still get some cash. I know it is the costumers' fault for buying them, and the only thing I will do to stop this is not to buy licensed sets (which I did successfully this year, and I guess I can do it next year too). Unfortunately, if TLG keeps flooding us with more and more and MORE licensed sets, it will turn out to be that I will have to stop buying LEGO altogether, because it is already hard enough for me to find sets that are not licensed in stores. I guess it is not a big deal for TLG, because they will get their money all right, or even more money. But that doesn't mean I won't complain while it happens. AFOLs remain the minority of the minority, even in regards to licensed themes. The licensed kids on the other hand, are all are hyped into getting figures and then ask their parents to build those ships and it all goes to the attic when three bricks get lost. A silver pipe is a silver pipe and George Lucas does not have a monopoly on silver pipes. LEGO could do them just fine without a SW license. Same with droid torsos. They aren't actual copies of SW droid torsos, LEGO could have come up with them just fine. All the "licensed" pieces mentioned for how useful they are, are useful precisely because they are not designed to be only the thing they represented initially and because they could have existed just fine without the license. This argument is really the mootest of points. And you know what? Even if they were really the philosopher's stone of MoCing AND impossible to exist in a world without licenses, I would gladly trade these pieces for LEGO to stop filling shelves with sets I do not want.

Oh, just wait to see what retailers do about that. -
ASK HERE How to clean your LEGO sets/parts?
vexorian replied to jngunsw's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Water at 40 degrees celsius should be just fine without harming your bricks and is better than cold water. I have bought a lot of brick bulks this year, and I really think they are not worth it. Whatever the price. Washing them becomes work and at the end, they will be used bricks, that means scratches and the such. I noticed that after buying a kilogram of bricks in bulk, it is usually some three or 5 rare pieces that since they are small are not very scratched that are completely worth it, and the rest is probably not very useful unless you need filler for the non-visible part of your MoC. It later becomes a space issue, I am starting to think that money and space are much better used buying new sets. -

Chrome has just become the most used web browser. If LEGO's site doesn't support it well, it is LEGO's bug. -
I am completely sick of them too. They are overpriced, over-hyped, dependent on movie franchises rather than set design for success. People only buy them for minifigs - Peach minifigs that are unusable in conjunction to real minifigs. And retailers, specially in small countries like mine, make it a priority to bring all of those licensed themes over anything else. This year no Kingdoms or Alien Conquest set arrived this city. It really blows. LEGO could just stop making licensed sets altogether and just sell the licensed minifigs for 5 dollars each. I think everyone would win. LEGO would milk customers away with overpriced figures. The fans of those works would get their real objective, LEGO-looking dopplegangers of their favorite characters so that they can forget about the Hassle of building things. And everyone else would have shelf space for sets that focus on good design rather than shielding over a movie franchise. Yes, and this over negativity is fed by LOTR's announcement today. I have reached a point in which I had enough, really. The last thing I wanted was for LEGO to get another multi-year deal on another theme that will obviously use all the shelf space available and make me unable to get any set that doesn't pay a movie studio tax. I've seen those pics, and the only piece that seems to make sense as exclusive to licences is Darth Vader's helmet which is used on a minifig and nothing. Unless you counted the droid heads, but in that MoC their use seems to be forced. Things like Droid torsos and those silver legs could have easily existed without StarWars and indeed, the droid torsos were used in Life On Mars and tons of other non-licensed themes. None of those parts seems to be simultaneously very relevant and exclusive to a licensed theme. And in fact, this ship's looks seem to rely a lot on non-licensed parts like the Shadow Panther's spikes and tons of Atlantis canopies.
-
Meh, LEGO is selling out. Down with these many tons of licenses. Specially with something as intrascendent as the hobbit. Multi-year deal? LEGO may as well be renamed MOVIELOL. It was enough of an annoyance that this year's Kingdom's and Alien Conquest sets weren't offered by any retailer around here. Rather the tons of Starwars and Harry Potter uninspired trash full of over-detailed peach skinned figures.

I am more excited about the notion of HF pieces popping up in system sets.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6 Discussion

No matter how good you are feeling the contents, if there are no aliens in the available bags, you won't get one. -
A bit of brasso and a paper to rub them for a while should get the logos removed.
-
I don't see them. It could be the lighting. It would be unlikely that they would begin using colored bones in just this one set. I would rather they returned to making all bones black.
-
I am not that excited about Teal. Mostly because the only teal pieces I see are U-joints. I already have U-joints from the throwbot era so they are strong enough. If there actually was some HF 2-0 armor in teal I would be more interested.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6 Discussion

hmnn, HispaBricks uses the word for male surgeon but I was pretty sure it was a female surgeon, the face manages to look female without the addition of lipstick somehow. X-ray brick is just great. I wish LEGO would figure a way to print the back of the leg piece. The back of the Roman looks not like a skirt but like something else... His shield also looks significantly worse than in the preliminars. The alternate face on the creepy adult with teddy bear is awesome. Now I guess I will have to get a couple of them. The robot's head looks a lot more fitting in real picture than in the CGI, but I would have still preferred a normal minifig head. Just about all the face prints in this series are great and worth having a couple of. -
Meh, I need those 1x1 round trans red tiles.
-
Hey, 19.99 for this is the fairest LEGO price I met in ages. I was really afraid about the price. As long as my retailers don't inflate it, I should be able to get this set!

Discussion Should LEGO make a Military Theme?
vexorian replied to KisKatona's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It will likely not happen unless there is a big change in TLG leadership. Like TLG gets bought or something. The best they try is to include some military vehicles in futuristic or antiquate settings but they will likely never make a down right military theme. -
Rocka looked awesome in that review. But then I noticed that it was most likely because of the bad lighting. Many bricks that are not black in the CGI looked black in the review. If that was Rocka's real color scheme it would have been this wave's high note.
-
I'll have to get a couple of rockas because of that cursed transparent small thornax launcher.
-
Hah, ok Rocka's back is making he gain points. Even though maybe in a side view the foot would look silly.
-
Somehow Rocka is not looking as great to me as in the CGI pics. It is probably the color scheme, I would have totally used black in place of all that bley.
-
I doubt it. The next super heroes won't have any purple it seems. I don't think they would use that many purple in a HF character either. I can hope though. These really are good only for the bricks. But they come in such unusual colors. Then we have the friction joints, I hope black phantom has them, but if he doesn't, I would feel forced to buy these ... things in quantity.
