  1. Having never built with the CCBS system in-the-brick, I am not sure how my LDD model will turn out (or if I will even get a chance to finish it; fingers crossed!) Good luck to everyone!
  2. It would probably come with a plume attachment hole in the top of the headpiece, and a medium lavender bow accessory.
  3. I would want to know the actual piece count, but the variety of non-basic bricks (SNOT bricks, slopes, windows, round bricks and trans-colors--including trans-dark green! My favorite!) will probably make me get one anyway. Or two..or three.. Thanks for the heads up on these promising sets!
  4. Agreed. My guess is that they ok'd the project despite the lack of wide-audience appeal because they figure a high percentage of those people who fit in the niche audience will actually go out and buy it, and perhaps it will persuade several non-FOLs to pick one up (and maybe get hooked in the process). The birds project, on the other hand, has probably broader appeal--lots of non-FOLs would probably say iy looks nice--but how many of those people will actually spend money on it? The adult geek culture is very much into collectibles and trinkets, and I bet this brings a lot of former KFOLs to discover that being an AFOL is cool, too.
  5. My guess is--and this might help to answer others' questions about the packaging--that it is a removable part of the display. The red words probably say "remove this insert before merchandising" and the silver/grey thing shows how the display box is assembled. With this kind of display it is common to have an extra sheet or front to help hold items in place during shipping, that is intended to be removed by the retailer. Since this is clearly from an order catalog for next year ("Janvier-Abril 2015"), that's my theory. The image on the right is a different kind of display box with a top tray rather than shelves. In either case, it looks like everything is still in bags, no worries. From what we can see, the figs look good! I don't mind the recolors, since I didn't get into CMFs until last year so missed a lot of them. The king in particular looks like a must-have. Snake charmer and sheriff, as well. Although I am tired of all my really good Western torsos having sheriff stars on them.
  6. I haven't noticed issues with the quality of plastic itself, but I have with color: the figs' arms are the shade of yellow we are used to, but the hands are paler. They look like the same color of yellow as was in a knock-off brand I bought years ago. It's kind of upsetting to see this kind of problem with TLG, even though I know we've seen color inconsistencies in the past.
  7. The Treasure Island set is the clear winner of this line, in my mind: great figs, nice new/useful parts for MOCing, and will probably hit the $20 price range. It is the only one I am sure to pick up (some of the others, maybe, if I can stretch my budget). The Juniors set also gets points for the goofy Jolly Roger. The only drawback is the new crocodile. I guess with all of their animals getting new molds with printing--bears, horses, the Friends animals as well as licensed ones like the dewback or Smaug--they felt the need to update the croc as well. I guess I just feel it could have turned out better. Or it's just nostalgia talking.
  8. Was at my local store last week and they had 1x6x5 wall pieces in white (which they pulled out of the back) and 4x6 plates, also in white.
  9. Very nice! I love the Heroica tiles for the tablecloth, and the blinds are so simple but so perfect!
  10. Agreed. I only just barely scrapped a SHIP I had been working on. I just discovered since it had taken so long to get even halfway, I had no real drive to finish it.
  11. I think he'll do fine (if rumors are true), although I think Joaquin Phoenix would have done better. I was also looking forward to Ewan McGregor in the role. Truth be told, my top pick ever would be David Bowie...from about 20 years ago, before he looked old. Aw heck, even if they made it today, I'd still pay to see that.
  12. Their previous obscurity is likely why they got an entire line of Lego sets...
  13. As already pointed out, these pieces put a lot of stress on the fingers which could break them easily or cause them to lose their clutch power. The click hinges can also lose their clutch, but the result is just that there is a bit of play in the hinge--it wiggles a bit within each click position. While unfortunate, that is better than a complete loss of clutch or a broken piece. Another loss with this piece being discontinued is that it allowed for 180 degree stud-reversals within the height of a single plate. Luckily, you can still find them on BL for reasonable prices.
  14. If you have some of the old finger-style hinges, the plume connector on the LR crow piece fits snugly between the teeth: Rock Wranglers! by rodiziorobs, on Flickr This is only because the crow piece is slightly rubbery; other plume attachments that are stiff such as feathers or flame pieces have a hard time sticking.
  15. This is exactly how I feel. It would have to be the most amazing set ever with unique parts and a great parts-to-price ratio for me to throw down $300 on a single set (although my wife, as a Marvel fan, would probably concede to it), so it had either better be that or be easy to pass up.
  16. Neat scene! I've gotta say, though, the cactus is probably my favorite bit.
  17. This article has a quote from Kevin Feige from Tuesday's Q&A where he responds to this. He seems to deliberately dodge the Spider-Man question, but that's just how Kevin Feige is.
  18. Wierd, because I didn't have a no. 2, but I do have a Battle Goddess. That's why said OR on both of those numbers, I just didn't know which number went to which fig.
  19. I have five codes, one for each for the following characters: 18 (Battle Goddess OR Prospector) 20 is Dino Tracker, 24 is Hun, 25 is Princess, 29 (Battle Goddess OR Prospector) If anyone knows which one of the above is Battle Goddess or Prospector, please let me know (either by reply or PM). If you PM me for a code I'll try and get it to you today.
  20. Finally my local Target had these stocked...but at the $3.99 price, so I didn't get as many as I wanted: 1 each of Hun, Princess, Dino Tracker, Battle Goddess, and Prospector. I ended up checking every package (there were probably 30-35 total), but most of them were Gamers, Pizza Guys, or Genie Girls. At $3 a pop, I might have considered getting them, but that extra $1 made it not worth it. Already, to think I plunked down $20 for 5 figs seems hardly worth it. Although if there had been more Huns, I would have taken every one. Very impressed with the Hun, as expected, and the Battle Goddess was even better-I thought the helmet was all one piece, but having it as two separate parts is great! Dino Tracker is also better than expected, and while Princess is cute, she seems like the plainest of the bunch. Her hairpiece seems a tiny bit loose, as commented above, but similar to the old cowboy hat mold--certainly no worse. Prospector's hat is a little too comically large, but other than that I like him.
  21. Of course, sets from Disney XD shows didn't start until after they started Avengers Assemble, rather than continuing with the superior Earth's Mightiest Heroes cartoon. I would have loved sets from that show probably more than most movie sets. Can you imagine Secret Invasion sets? With double-sided heads where the second side is a Skrull? Sadly, it didn't happen. Maybe Secret Invasion for phase 4. In the meantime, I am pumped to see what next year's AoU sets will get us.
  22. Was at the Murray, UT (USA) location yesterday, and the service was excellent. I was filling a cup and one of the employees asked what project I was working on. When I told her, she said, "well then I might have some more pieces in the back that you would like," and brought out another box of new parts that weren't on the wall. The cashier who rang me up asked if I had kids (I do) and so threw in a couple of sticker sheets and other odds and ends. She also reminded me about 2x VIP points--I would have forgotten, otherwise! I wish I could go back again today...
  23. Holy Hulkbuster! Incredible trailer. Is it May yet?
  24. #5 already exists--and in one or another form, #4, #7, and #8 do as well--#6 seems too far from TLG's standards, #3, while accurate as a flight attendant, would only reopen the whole sexist toy debate, #2 is overtly religious, something is against portraying. While for some of these figs, it would be nice if this list true, it's not.
