Big Sal calls Scorpio for a meeting... I've got a bad feeling about this... Starstriker! Come in! Am I in trouble? My last spying mission went pretty good! I mean, I forgot to add the vehicle tag, but... No Scorpio, you're not in trouble. Well, you might be. You'd have to talk to one of MANTIS' accountants to find out how badly you've screwed stuff up. No, I called you in to give you a science mission. Oh. Not in trouble, then. Well that's good. It gets better. We even have a budget approved for it! Great! So what is it? We need you to research and build an Amplified Radar station. Oh, ok. I think I can do that. Well good, because I don't! I mean, I don't want to keep you any longer. Run along! Whew. I'll keep my fingers crossed on that one. Good thing we have double the budget needed, so we can fix everything after Starstriker screws it all up. Later.... Status report from Starstriker, S. Do you wish to download? YES NO Work completed, Amplified Radar achieved! Well, looks like Starstriker finished something! And in record time! View attached images? YES NO Wonderful! It looks like a very large building! ...and if you look here, one of the features of this radar station is... What the #%!? It's tiny! What kind of lazy idiot is he? CLAPPIE, reply to Starstriker that we need an Amplified Radar that will actually amplify! Even later... Status report from Starstriker, S. Do you wish to download? YES NO YES NO YES NO YES! #%*$*! CLAPPIE! YES NO YES NO YES NO YES NO #$&%*! Computer, download the latest status report from Starstriker, and shut down CLAPPIE. No, actually, uninstall CLAPPIE. Rebooting CLAPPIE. #%*&$! Downloading images. Now that's more like it! He actually did something right! Amplified Radar achieved! Out of Character:

Pixar Animation Studios and Films Discussion
rodiziorobs replied to just2good's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I am right along with this. It was a lot like Bill Murray's "The Man who Knew Too Little" (a work of comedic genius) but with Mater. Sure, there are holes in the plot, but the humor and action keeps up throughout, and the movie never feels long. It is far superior to its original. Admittedly, there are few people out there who try and defend Cars I, but I found the second really entertaining with top-notch voice acting (from the original cast--I can't speak to any translations or dubbing). I have not seen TGD; I probably won't. Maybe someday, but I'm not really planning on it.- 279 replies

The variety of containers really sells the whole thing, and the other details like the high-rise buildings, the mountain, and the cranes just complete the scene nicely.

Instantly recognizable, and quite impressive, too.

Yikes! Nice um...texturing (greebling?) on the head, but that close-up shot of the face is creepy. Very effective!

Disney Princess 2016 Rumors and Discussion
rodiziorobs replied to Amazing Bricks's topic in LEGO Licensed
I doubt they would do a bigfig in the DP line. Not because they couldn't, but because it would probably seem out of place to the girls the theme is aimed toward. I am saying this based on TLG's findings and success with minidolls. In their research they concluded minidolls were more appealing to girls because of their doll-like design, whereas minifigs were a bit too "action figure"-like. Bigfigs as we currently know them are definitely more action figure than doll. Perhaps they could introduce a larger head piece that raised the shoulders and filled the body out more but that would still feel doll-like, but I'm not sure they would, since it would have to deviate so much from the current minidoll and resulting play experience. -
Great expressiveness and posing!

Correct! Your turn.

IIRC, that scene was also in the Avengers: EMH animated series, as well.

LEGO Ideas Discussion
rodiziorobs replied to The Real Indiana Jones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
To a large extent, this was my experience with CUUSOO/Ideas as well. I submitted a handful of things, but none went very far (I don't really participate on social media--EB and an occasional fave on Flickr is about as far as I go). But I found the whole process tiresome and that it was changing the way I MOCced--I no longer made things because I wanted to or for aesthetics, but because I was trying to create a "project". Not that that's a bad thing, but it didn't fit me personally and made me a lot more cynical. I voluntarily deleted my projects from CUUSOO months before the transition, and never really have come around to Ideas much, although I do keep up with this thread because I find it interesting. I am curious as to what happens with your experiment,so please come back and post it. -

LEGO Ideas Discussion
rodiziorobs replied to The Real Indiana Jones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
This I absolutely agree with, and would love to see happen However, I am not very optimistic, and feel like these are much more likely to be developed in-house by Lego than to come from an Ideas set. Exo-suit got it, but I think a callback to classic castle but with newer techniques would have a much harder time being produced--the tumble-down style that is in vogue right now doesn't translate well to official sets, as it is probably too advanced for a lot of younger builders, is incredibly parts-intensive, and often not up to the rigors of children's play. I could maybe see an Adventure set gaining traction on Ideas, but still believe that kind of concept would be better served by a full theme from TLG than a one-off set from Ideas. -

My local Target also had tons of S14, but still selling for $4. Hoping they get marked down to %50 off soon. -
Location: Jarin II (E02) Tags: spying It seemed like weeks--no, months--since Scorpio had last had a chance to do some real science. He was a scientist, after all, but M.A.N.T.I.S. and the Man Upstairs kept sending him on these spying missions. Even over Laszlowe's protests, here he was on Jarin II, conducting yet another spy job. He was sure all this spying would be the death of him. He was cruising low over Jarin's surface, skimming near some swampy islands. The Waterbug he was driving was not as fast as it looked, meaning he didn't stir up the water much as he went across it. This was good, because he was trying to listen hard for signs of a secret Octan base in the vicinity. Satellite imagery had caught traces of ships coming and going, but could not detect any signs on the ground. Suddenly he heard something over the scanner: "You want a cookie?" a man asked. "No way, man, I am so sick of cookies." another replied. "Suit youseff." came the response, through a mouthful of what was evidently cookie. Scorpio brought the engine down low and kept listening. "You know what else I am sick of? You sitting on your butt while I'm doing all the work here. Give me a hand with these lights, will ya? We were supposed to have them down 2 days ago" "Mmmf mm hmm hmm." The scanners had locked on to the direction of the conversation, and Scorpio began to move in slowly, coming over the edge of a grassy island until he could see the men in question. He secured the channel to the local M.A.N.T.I.S. HQ and called the incident in. "H.Q. this is Starstriker,I've found the location of our mystery base." "You can see the base? You have visual confirmation?" "Negative on the base; however I have visual on two Octan personnel with no transport in site. Looks like they must have walked here, and my scanners are picking up some indistinct signatures in the area. The base may be underground." "Excellent work, Starstriker. Have the Octans spotted you? What are they doing?" "Looks like they are taking down their Christmas decorations." "What? Ha! We put ours away two days ago! Ok, Starstriker, stay hidden and maintain surveillance. See if you can follow their moves back to their hidden base. We'll mark the location and put together a special ops team to infiltrate. Any thing else to add to the report for now?" "Just one thing, H.Q." "What's that?" "Happy New Year." AG New Year by rodiziorobs, on Flickr
