LEGO Ideas Discussion
rodiziorobs replied to The Real Indiana Jones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Yeah, but Classic Space isn't really a theme. I mean, not in any of TLG's current offerings. They like to throw little nods out to it here and there (or in the case of Benny's S!S!S! a big huge nod), but CS itself isn't a theme. Galaxy Squad was already discontinued when the Exo-Suit was released so really, Lego doesn't even have a space* theme anymore *While Nexo Knights is decidedly scifi, it isn't "Space". ------- I wonder what goes on in Ideas' meetings. No doubt Tim and the others are just as tired of seeing all the low-quality or no-chance or pre-existing-license projects as we are. I bet they don't have much room to change things. My guess is that upper management told them to keep Ideas free of elitism and open to everyone. Probably a big social media push to call for original stuff is the only resource they can really use to try and pre-filter all the crud that makes its way in. -
I doubt many people would buy them without the base, but I have seen just the upper piece used (as inverted snot)for some pretty effective greebling.

The brightly colored cars are wonderful!

I really like the look of the whole model: while its really detailed, it is also very clean looking without a lot of clutter. Good luck

You totally nailed the period look with the police station. With all the regular City PD stations it seems about right for a WV one. Well done, good luck!

Thanks everyone for the comments! Admittedly covered bridges aren't abundant everywhere in the world (there are none where I currently live, either), but whenever I see non-Lego winter village displays it seems like there is always a covered bridge. Given that the contest challenge was to find something Lego hasn't made as an official WV set yet, it seemed like a void waiting to be filled. That and they're so charming I've been wanting to do one for my own display for awhile, and am pretty pleased with how it turned out. Thanks! I actually built about six completely different tree kinds this year for my own display, but some of the others were too big to include in this entry! I might make a separate thread to show them off later.

I love the concept of a quiet Yeti family Christmas at home, what a fun idea!

Very unique (and well done) entry! I love how it fits together. I bought a bunch of those yellow claw/tooth plates from PAB forever ago, buy haven't been able to really find a good use for them. This is brilliant!

View the whole Flickr album It's the latest addition to the Winter Village series, the historic Winter Covered Bridge! Build the covered bridge and drive the truck through to cross the icy river (*river not included). There is something for everyone along the country road by the historic covered bridge. Help the two city workers get ready for the holidays as they decorate by hanging wreaths and strings of lights, and by changing the lampposts to festive colors! Join the kids in an epic snowball fight! Or spend time with the romantic couple as they share a walk through the trees and enjoy a box of tasty chocolates! Drive the vintage truck up and down through the covered bridge. Set includes 6 minifigures including two workers, two kids, and romantic couple. Set includes unique lamppost with different color bulbs, park bench, and two different brick-built pine trees. Accessories include a toolbox, box of chocolates, four wreaths, ladder, and a string of Christmas lights. See more by rodiziorobs on Flickr Thanks for looking, comments and criticism welcome! Good luck to all contest entrants!

PAB end of Dec. by rodiziorobs, on Flickr Didn't get a ton of Lego Christmas moneys but enough for a small PAB haul. Knew it was my last chance for some of these parts before they change them for the upcoming quarter, so grabbed a large cup's worth. Let's see what next week brings in PAB selection!

Although I am sure they could find some willing AFOLs to sort them for free if they offered them one or even part of one of the damaged sets. ;) -

In my experience, that doesn't really matter. You're not making a work of art to hang in a gallery, you are just using the paper to help you sort out your ideas. No one else will ever see your sketches, anyway. As long as when you look at it a day or two or a week later, you can still tell what you were trying to do, then it's helpful to better visualize what you're after. Besides, the more you do it the better you'll get. Also, I agree with dr_spock that working with the actual pieces is the best way to get used to them. Even if you have a small collection, it's more valuable I think than just digital resources. Good luck!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 Rumors and Discussion
rodiziorobs replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It seems the classic king and queen are kind of chronicling the changes in Castle themes since their inception--the king had fourteen knights, and the queen had new horses, raised baseplates, and two children... My Classic Castle knowledge is pretty incomplete but it seems like the raised baseplates came about in the early 90's (late 80's?) with the falcon, crusader/lion, and early dragon (not Dragon Master) factions, with Wolfpack in there as well. Which two of these is likely to be the two children (and does this mean a chance for some classic heraldry in the future?!) Also, this series is totally going to break several months' worth of my Lego budget. -
How I repaired headphones with LEGO Technic parts
rodiziorobs replied to Fanylover's topic in Community
Nice solution! Looks like it was supposed to be there all along The switch on my washing machine went out once and I fixed it with bricks until the replacement part came in the mail.
