I think everything you list was at my store back in November. Maybe not ball joints, I don't remember. I haven't made it back to my local store since then, so I don't know if their inventory has changed. I'll update here when I make it there--probably this week or next.

LEGO Elves 2017 Discussion
rodiziorobs replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
The airship is still a must-have, in multiples if possible. I'd love to build one about 3 times the size, with more decks, etc. The Goblin village looked messy to me at first, but now I really like the look of it; that's another one I will really try to pick up. Other than that, the King Dragon set looks good, but not really better than the dragons from 2016, so I will try and finish collecting those first. -
I don't think the BrickHeadz are superfluous, but I doubt they will sell very well. As noted, MEGA has been selling* similar builds for awhile, also based off of popular licenses such as Star Trek. *more like hasn't been selling. As Faefrost said, they've been shelfwarmers. My guess is that they will sell well to speculators, die-hard fans of the licensed IP, new parts enthusiasts who don't want to wait for Bricklink, curious builders who will buy one or two (but not much beyond that), and eventually, buyers like me who like to gobble up sets on clearance.

What was the last movie you watched?
rodiziorobs replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
The Finest Hours. A little slow paced, and the beginning feels a bit jumbled, but overall it was pretty good. -
Correct! Your turn.

That's weird, because when you quoted me it showed up in your quote. When I fixed it I used the "insert media" tool on the new forum. I'm on mobile, and the post looks the same for me as my original post. Maybe flag it so the admins can take a look at it, since the problem might be at your end. Since some people can see the image, I'll let it go a bit longer and see if someone can guess it.

I tried to update the link, let me know if there is still trouble with the image

Well, I'll take a turn then. Bonus points if you knew of this movie before this sad day.

These quotes almost perfectly sum up my Lego behavior.

Sets so nice you bought them twice (or more)

Medieval Market Village, and numerous polybags that were priced to move. Also the Creator Log Cabin (at half price it was a great parts pack for brown and tan), and of course a few select CMFs. -
My wife and I got the Queen Dragon Rescue for Christmas, and while the dragon is amazing, I am somewhat bummed by the rigidity of the legs, and feel like a knee joint would be ideal. Has anyone tried altering the legs to include a knee joint? I am thinking Mixel joints, but am put off by the lack of color options so would love to get some other ideas.

The position and future of Friends and minidolls in Lego?
rodiziorobs replied to Dorayaki's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I think kids' imagination fills in the gaps left by lack of articulation. It's the adults who like to display things that worry more about how to pose the figures. Kids are often too busy with the stories they are creating to necessarily worry about whether or not a character can turn their wrist. Anecdotally, my own son prefers to build megaweapons for his Ninjago figures, then just have them hold them. If there is any swashbuckling to be done, he does that with his own wrist while holding the figure, rather than pose Zane doing it himself. As long as the figure can hold the thing he built, that's good enough. (Obviously not true of all kids, and I agree that lack of articulation is the major drawback with minidolls, but I don't see much logic or evidence in claiming that it turns away the target audience.) -
I use the short cups for storage, and the tall cups for various purposes, recently I cut a hole in the bottom of one and am using it for a lampshade.

Quiz show, followed by O Brother Where Art Thou. I wasn't meaning to, but it looks like I went on a mini Jon Turturro marathon. -
Best body position to build Lego?
rodiziorobs replied to Zerobricks's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I sit at a low table with space in front of me to build and organize, space on the floor to stack boxes I'm not currently rummaging through, and on my side a storage cart with 10 shallow drawers. It works really well so I can sit up straight most of the time and gives me plenty of almost enough space, but it is a pain (literally) when I drop a piece. -
Came here to see comments about the crumbling Death Star. Was not disappointed

That is some phenonemal parts usage.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 17 Rumors and Discussion
rodiziorobs replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
So wait, is the food costume an apple? I ask because the phrase @Itaria No Shintaku used was a favorite of Steve Jobs, and that's the only food connection I can see there. Edit: if so, how is that going to fit in a bag?!- 1,421 replies

I like the way you've camouflaged the neck joints. My creature building experience isn't vast, but I always find it frustrating--and rewarding--being able to keep those joints less-than-obvious. Great use of color, too

The details are wonderful, and that's an inspired use of old tires if I've ever seen one! Your character builds always impress!

The way you have shown the shallow water around the base of the rocks is fantastic! I have seen similar techniques but I think this is probably one of the most effective.

I like some of the ideas @Commander Turtlesuggested. I am not sure that removing judged scores altogether is the best way to go, but I agree that sometimes the judging seemed wildly inconsistent and that there must be some way to address that. I like #3 in particular, since it makes bonuses achievement-based and can help influence a story (certainly better than needing to include a land-vehicle every week for a bonus). However, it re-introduces the problem that #1 is trying to avoid: a builder could phone in those elements every week just to qualify for the achievement, and I can't think of a good way to get around that. -
Since the first of last year my local store (Murray, UT, USA) has changed their supply quarterly along with the PAM. However, sometimes things change if they have inventory issues (or, recently, they didn't get the PAM until weeks after they were supposed to). However, their inventory is different than a lot of what I am seeing quoted here, i.e. the black jumpers and tan tiles were there over a year ago. Maybe that's a US/Euro thing, though.
