Heroica RPG - Quest #129: Flying the Coop
The Legonater replied to CMP's topic in The Heroica Archive
Always a pleasure to meet a dragon. I bow low. I agree with Guts, it'll be best to strike while they're not looking. Might avoid a few unwanted encounters that way, too. It's unlikely, but you never know. -

How accurate are these plans? I would imagine the soldiers have done some renovations. In any case, I'm ready. Just a suggestion, should I join the barracks crew? Surely the soldiers will be a bit more susceptible to death than those wights, and there'll be a lot. I could clear them out pretty well with this blade. -

Captain. We've met, though I don't know if you'd remember that. I admit I haven't a whole lot experience with the Bonaparte, but this seems like an odd move, even for them. They've had some power struggles or something recently, haven't they? Are we sure there aren't ulterior motives here? -

They're looking at the opposite of the solution. Segregation will get them nowhere. We need integration, people working together to build this city up. Though I guess when the power is so divided, such teamwork gets swept under the rug. I keep watch from the back. The place hardly seemed like one to harbour a threat to the heroes, but it didn't hurt to keep an eye out. -
I grew up with the 97 version in the house, and while some parts of the original I still hold more to, it's the version I associate Star Wars with the most. It doesn't change a lot, and most of what it does change adds some to the world, pushing it just a little bit more, such as the changes made to Cloud City. I appreciate what they tried to do with the 05 version, largely connecting it more to the PT, but it just fell flat. I agree that McDiarmid was a great addition, but Temuera Mason as Boba Fett just falls so flat. I haven't looked at the Blu-Ray version - I don't have a player - but from what I've heard it's even less good.

I nod to the cat. Greetings. Thanks for the warning, for all it's worth. -

I've fought gods before, and came out on top. You're just a mouthpiece. Unsurprisingly, you're also all talk. I repeat my attack. -
Quite the contrary, no one has said anything against you. We've merely been curious as to your clear hate for Disney, something you've been very adamant to bring up yet refuse to talk about. No one has meant it in an insulting tone. If you really do not wish to discuss it, then perhaps you shouldn't mention how much you hate Disney with nearly every post? Just my two cents, no need for argument or anything.

Dyric briefly falls to his knees, surprised by the sudden attack and weighed down by the massive crossbow. He'd have to figure out how to deal with the weight of it when he came to using it properly. Standing up, he tried to shake the affects of the creatures as he repeated his attack. -
I would have to agree. Heroica is such an anachronism stew at this point it's pretty difficult to pinpoint exactly what does or doesn't fit in.

Looks like these guys aren't as easy to kill as you thought, Hybros. I'll give this thing a shot later. I switch to Requiem again and fire at the same Wight, still in the back. Apologies for the delay, busy day. -

I weigh the bladerang in my hand, taking Hybros' suggestion into consideration. Aiming at Wight E, I hurl the bladerang from the back row. -

I pull out Requiem and fire an arrow at Wight E from the back. Sounds like another cult. Eubric ought to set up some sort of registry at some point, I keep losing track of all the crazy groups running around. -

I take the Cloak of the Red Assassin and put it on, taking off the Sticky Gloves as I do so. Thank you, Hybros. I take the two weapons and hide them in my layers of cloaks. Ignoring the man, I go towards the blood, seeing if I can track down whoever it came from. A Lucky Die, eh? I wasn't sure any more existed. -

It all looks good! I turn to the man on the dock. Sir, have you seen anything unusual recently? Any ships coming through? -
I laugh lightly. I guess word does travel. Yeah, that was me. Don't worry, when it comes down to the wire, I'll get the job done.
-
I track down Hybros, and make my way towards him. With an earnest smile, I put out my hand for a handshake. Hybros, right? I'm Dyric Rone. Assassin of the Light? Either way, I don't think we've ever met, but I've definitely heard your name thrown around. I guess when one's been around as long as you have, it'd be hard not to. As for potions, don't worry about me. I've got a decent supply, and besides, I'm flat broke. Well, at the moment. I stick a thumb to the massive crossbow on my back. I've been working to get this thing up to snuff. It's an extensive effort, but I think I'm almost there.

After a long and relaxing nap, Dyric awakes to the sound of a crowd shuffling to the quest board. He waits for the group's numbers to thin. Lately he seemed tired in a whole different way - maybe it was all the recent failures. So-called victories tainted by vague morals and loose goals. He kept fighting for peace, and people kept telling him that was a fool's dream. It was ever so slowly starting to wear him down. Baltarok, Karie, the growing influence of Baba - it was all the same. He longed for the days of simplicity. A man brushed past him, and he was knocked from his thoughts. He needed to focus on the present. Only then could he move forward on any sort of solid path. Seeing the crowd had largely moved away, Dyric approached the Quest Board. He had been chosen for that Magpie mission. He vaguely remembered the crew from Baltarok. Silently he hoped things would go far better this time around.
