Had to copy-and-paste that link to get the image (I think it's blocking deep-linking), but I'm going with the first thing that popped to mind: Is that Ed Harris in the control room of The Truman Show?
-
Yes sir, you got it! It's the first appearance of Robby the Robot in Forbidden Planet (1956). Robby was reused so many times, most famously in Lost in Space. I also love the very young Leslie Neilsen in this non-comedy role!

I enjoyed Ed Wood (certainly more than Plan 9!), but had never directly compared them. That is a fantastic likeness on both parts! Here's my next one:

The critters are indeed great (NPU with the Statue of Liberty head!), and I especially like that plant. Gorgeous use of those leaves!

Got Counterfeit Minifigs, Is Returning Them Illegal?
deraven replied to Zorglorfian's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
It's a fine line... If you're unhappy with your purchase and eBay will back you up, then get your money back and return them. The bigger question is if they're actually counterfeit. Were they explicitly advertised as Lego brand minifigs? Do they say Lego on them, but clearly are not? Most of the knockoff minifig sellers (generally out of Hong Kong or China direct) are very careful not to mention the actual character names or say that they're Lego (but some times go as far as to say they're "like" Lego or Lego-compatible). Even if they're unlicensed reproductions of licensed characters, they're not (in my non-lawyer opinion) counterfeit enough (what an odd thing to say) to make it any kind of issue with you returning them, especially with a value of $15. If they're good enough to give you some value and that plus a lesson learned is worth $15, then keep 'em and save your time with the return hassle. :) -
How very pulpy! Tor Johnson, vampire girl, horrible lighting - took a while to register, but that'd be Plan 9 from Outer Space!

Easiest way is that there's a button at the top of the editor window that will let you paste in the URL for the image. It looks like a Polaroid picture, under the smiley and next to the < > (Code) button. (Oops - didn't see page 2 - Brickelodeon beat me to it!)

That is the correct response!

Yes! But which version? Your turn, TheLegoExperience!

OK! How 'bout:

AFAIK, Lego's "bright blue" is the "regular," original blue (and just "blue" on Bricklink). If you think the color you have isn't the regular blue, could you maybe post a pic of the one you're trying to identify along with a known color (another blue, preferably, like from a specific set so we're 100% sure about its color)?
-
Yeah… but then you get into this situation where nobody is confirming guesses. ;)

A mod/admin may have to look at it, but as a point of clarification- you should be able to post a reply to an existing topic there after you reach 10 posts, but cannot start a topic of your own until you reach 100.

Love the facade and the collage of window frames sort of look. I don't know if there's a specific name for that style, but it looks great on a surf shop!

So many epic fields that it could be, but I think the paw gives it away. Fantastic Mr. Fox?

You got it! Pretty awesome iPad he's got there for 1968… er, 2001, right?
-
Ha! Yeah, he kinda does! But no, much older (film) than that.
-
Definitely Tron (1982). How about this one:

Great! You've really captured the cracking/bursting floor very nicely along with the items being displaced. Excellent still-capture of that motion.
-
Beautiful, as always. I especially like the greenery growing up the tower and that twisty tree next to it!
-
"No party is complete without Bill Murray." Indeed! Simple build, but I really like all that you have going on in (and out) there! Nice use of that baseplate, too.
-
Nicely captured! I like the way you did the fencing foils at that scale.
-
Well, extrapolating a minifig's dimensions vs a human and then applying that to the Power Loader, I'd say this looks like a pretty nicely done minifig-appropriate design! Really the only thing I think would help the overall look would be to have it a bit thinner front-to-back. I see what you mean at the hips, but with minifigs being super-wide-bodied, the width of your Power Loader seems fine. Regardless, it's a tough thing to design if you're going for accuracy in actual minifig-scale. Nice job!

That's a lot of expression and atmosphere in such a small build. Lovely!

What do I use for LDD rendering?
deraven replied to Microdragons's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
There are already plenty of topics here on Eurobricks and elsewhere - essentially you need: - LDD or Bricksmith for editing or creating the model - The latest LDraw files including all the current parts lists - High-res parts files (LGeo) installed in the LDraw directory - Something like LDView to configure your settings for the POVRay render file (or you can export directly to POV from some applications if you don't need to fiddle with lights and such) - A Mac-compatible version of POV-Ray, or megaPOV to do the actual rendering Here are a couple links that you might want to read through for more info - they also have commentary about using other tools like Blender: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=95517 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=82225
