Great little scene. Really simple build, but that 3-piece tree still works well with those much more complicated and creative vultures! Nice build!

Nice. It does feel like it needs a hood ornament or something to break up the slab of the front hood. Maybe make that a 1x2 jumper plate instead connecting the 2 curved bricks, either with something attached to it, or even just left with the single stud there adding some texture? I especially like the way you did the grill, too, and the SNOT construction for the front and back bumpers. Well done.

Selling Lego Collection - Advice Needed
deraven replied to TotalAfol's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Agreed with LucyCol- breaking it down into smaller lots by weight and selling a bunch of those at a somewhat higher price per lg/kg will probably net you the most cash if you aren't going piece-by-piece. You might also consider, depending on what affect it will have on your sanity, doing a very rough sort and selling different lots of technic brick, plates, windscreens - that kind of thing. That can also result in a higher return while still being pretty quick and easy. -

Wow - beautiful build, and so many aspects masterfully executed. All the magnet-related functions are a lot of fun and work very well. And the video was fantastic! -
Very nice! The detailing on the stern is especially good, and the color scheme is lovely. Great build!

Welcome to EB, degenerate! That's awesome that you've emerged from your dark ages in such a pleasant and fun way... and lucky you at least get some discounts on the Lego to ease the impact on your wallet! Happy building!

I'll not rehash what was said above, but let me add specifically that, having started with LDraw-based tools, trying LDD after that was painful. Going the other direction may not be. In particular, the forced bottom-up building in LDD (and having to use scaffolds to place things, etc.) is the deal-breaker for me. It's not how I build, digitally or IRL. If I'm going for a complex shape, for instance, I'll start from the outside in with something that may ultimately require all manner of internal SNOT structure, and I like to start the whole process by just dropping elements into 3D space and seeing how they can be joined together. That's basically impossible for me in LDD. The natural parts snapping and logical points of rotation and such are nice, however, and I do sometimes miss that in other tools where I do waste time nudging things around and manually aligning with the grid. Someday maybe there'll be a cross-platform solution that does it all!

Welcome to EB, Lowflyer! Happy learning & building!

Tons of good stuff. One of my favorite designers is Jamie Berard: https://brickset.com/sets/list-10590 ... but a big part of that is my love for the Modulars as well as the larger aviation themed creator sets, so that makes him a good fit.

Hi theRNG! Welcome aboard. Nice to have you here, and happy building!

Well, I mean, there are hundreds of people from across the years, and any given set these days often has a whole team that's worked on it (design lead, design team, playability/stability tester, graphic design, marketing, etc.), but this might be an interesting place for you to start depending on what you're wanting to do with the information: https://brickset.com/bricklists/featured Those are lists of designers and which sets they worked on, often with comments from the designers themselves added.

Welcome to EB, LM71Blackbird! Looking forward to seeing you, and your creations, around the boards.

I guess my first question would be- at what scale? Are you talking roughly minifig scale, I assume, or midi-scale for display/diorama use, etc.? And then, are there any specific pieces you're thinking about? That is, things like shelves and tables could easily fit in many timeframes if done properly and there's a lot of that out there, but if you're talking specific styles of chairs, desks, or whatever that would be helpful to know.

Works fine and images scale properly on my iPhone. Only issue I see is that the post/comment headers with the user information have a little bit of a text alignment problem with overlapping elements when the user has a custom title or a bunch of icons.

Nice design and overall shaping. Especially the NPU on the body in general and ribcage area. The BrickHeadz eyes work really well for this build, too.

Carmageddon Mystery Machine... that's great! Nicely done. -
Welcome to EB, Hart New Bob! Thanks for saying "hello" and we'll see you around the boards...

Nice posing, and the overall tone comes through well. I get an "alien-in-the-iron-mask" kind of vibe from it.
-
Nice. That B-wing handle really completes the themed look beautifully!

Just trying to provide clarity. There are people who purposefully buy less-expensive used sets without the minifigs (since some people collect only them and then sell the rest of the set to recoup some cash), and then try to get them from Lego by claiming they were missing from their purchased set which obviously isn't OK. Happy building!

Hi Edendale75 - welcome to EB. What you're mentioning there is for ordering missing parts that were a production error, and it's not something that should be used when you purchase used Lego that has missing pieces as that's a fraudulent request. I would recommend you order the helmet from Bricklink or elsewhere since that would be the more appropriate way to complete the set. Here's the available items on Bricklink - not too pricey: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?id=126938&idColor=1#T=S&C=1&O={"color":1}

You can buy the individual sails on Bricklink. Not inexpensive (a full set will cost you somewhere between $30 & $50 USD), but might be the way to go when you consider the time involved in making your own... unless you're doing a bunch of ships and will be making sails in quantity.
