  1. You may or may not have noticed, in my vignette, my bellows design. I looked at various good designs already proffered, but could not find one of the proper size for a vignette, so I had to design my own. I was pretty pleased with the result and thought I would share it with you all: And disassembled: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Misc/bellows2.jpg I only wish I had used a black handle piece, but I only had dark grey available... Steve
  2. I've decided to start work on another vignette series. This time I intend to illustrate a medieval role for each letter of the alphabet (don't ask what I will do when I get to 'X'). The idea came to me while I was working on the Blacksmith, so I started with 'B,' I have also incorporated two previous vignettes, into the series, so 'D' and 'S' are finished also. I will, however, go back and begin with 'A,' next and proceed in order from there. But until then, here is the entry for 'B:' The whole ferric gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=191063 The alphabet thus far: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=191062 "You should hammer your iron when it is glowing hot" -Pubililius Syrus Steve
  3. I thought Adventurers was a great theme for interesting and unusual vehicles. A nice underwater adventure would be a great way to do a few submarines, a ship, a plane and maybe a beach jeep/truck. Steve

  6. Still only two... here is the second one: The whole sacrificial gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=190132 Steve
  7. I am so utterly sick of TIEs, in any incarnation, though since its UCS, it really doesn't affect me much. As for the X-wing, I'm not really excited about it either... so unless it comes with some really good figures or parts, I might have to pass on it too... Oh well, more to spend on other lines, like... well guess I'll be saving it... Steve
  8. As the super adventurer fan that I am, I've got to go with Pharoah. And also because them croc's is grey and the only place to get them is here. For the green croc sets, it would have to be the Enchanted Island. Steve
  9. Wow, you're really stretching for polls, aren't you Brickster? ;-) Anyway, I'll have to get back to you with an answer later. Steve
  10. Here's my fig, not really piratey though: Or one of his many incarnations: Elvis: Adam: Hamlet: Gypsy: Dino-hunter: Charles Dickens: But alas, no pirates... Steve
  11. Well it was either that or vampire hair... :-P Steve

  13. That's what I'm here for... ;-) Just keep checking ebay and don't get impatient and great deals will come to you too... Steve
  14. Fire and brimstone rains down on Sodom and Gomorrah in the latest entry in my biblical vignette series: The whole judgmental gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=189372 Steve
  15. Yes. All but the two I mentioned. Though to be completely honest, I only have the legend edition of the BSB Steve
  16. I really don't know. You'll have to ask John the Apostle... I don't write them, I just build them ;-) I decided I needed live figures to symbolize conquest. Waving the white flag and bowing down... Steve
  17. I assume it is something like that. They all seemed to have a small (2 or 3 aisle) toy department with various toys. Steve
  18. Basically its just a store that's operated on the military base for the soldiers. Its run by the military's AAFES (Army and Air Force Exchange Service). So, I assume, since they supply the shops all over the world they have special contracts with suppliers, that aren't necessarily available to other retailers. All this is pretty much conjecture, since its been about 10 years since my dad retired, so I'm not exactly sure about the logistics of it all. Steve
  19. My dad was a military reservist, so I had access to the BX (Base Exchance) which often carried sets that were readily available in the US (i.e. Guarded Inn, Maiden's Cart, etc.). So I never really realized a lot of sets weren't available here. I'm pretty sure that's where it came from. Steve
  20. Well some of the series (i.e. Bible, Fairy Tales, Afterlife, History, Stephen King) are uncompleteable or nearly so. There will always be more material to work with. Some of them may well be complete (i.e. Caesar and Christmas Carol) as I don't really have any intention to make more. But the 7 deadly sins in the one that still mocks me by its incompleteness... I really need to finish that one off. Steve
  21. I've had two bad experiences. One when I bought Ancient Amazon Ruins. There were some pieces missing and some broken. Nothing major and the seller offered to replace them, but I got such a good deal on it, I didn't bother. The other, and more saddening to me, was when I won Carriage Ride and one other paradisa set for $10, and the stupid seller sent it to the wrong address... I did get my money refunded but I still didn't get my pony. :(
  22. The last (or is it the first) horseman is upon us! Conquest arrives on his white horse: The whole victorious gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=187514 Hail the conquering hero! Steve, who is quite happy to have completed a vignette series for once...
  23. Not my best deal, but still pretty nice and still less than MSRP for the large ship... Now I am 90% pirate complete... Only missing This set and This set. Steve
  24. Well I'll get back to the others soon (my latest post aside). I've just had these ones almost finished and was just waiting for some bricklink orders to finish them up. I think you are right. I did, however, try it on a dark grey base with more rocks, but it didn't look right. Couldn't really seen the cairns, so I went with green. Call it artistic license ;-) Thanks! Steve
  25. The 5th entry in my biblical vignette series, The Tower of Babel: The whole linguistic gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=189023 The other biblical vignettes: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=162415 Steve... who just noticed his new title :-)
