I really like this idea. I'd like to incorporate it into my stories too... I'll send you a PM about it. Steve

What would make a great Adventurer sub-theme?
Athos replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Yet another thread I nearly missed commenting on. I've probably replied to about a half-dozen of threads similar to this, however, so my views are pretty well known. Here is my most detailed and lengthy post on the subject (and Adventurers in general), as posted on legofan.org: Also here are my thoughts on an Atlantis line from adventurers.dk Also see: Here and Here for other people's thoughts, Steve, the biggest Adventurer fan (in Nevada, at least) -
The Adventures of Johnny Thunder 4
Athos replied to Athos's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I'm glad they liked it and am flattered they are using my technique. Have they enjoyed the other three stories too? The first one is a bit less kid friendly and the third might be just a little bit so, I feel I must caution... I'm actually trying to do a story starring each of the characters... I'm still considering what to do for the Baron... Maybe they will hire me as a creative consultant? *sweet* Thanks, I'm glad you like it. I'm actually consciously avoiding viewing JP again, even though the box set is sitting on my shelf mocking me. I don't want it to influence my story unduly. I hope it lives up to your expectations. I've got the general story worked out, just need to polish the specifics now... Well it won't be until at least Monday, more likely Tuesday and most probably Wednesday before I get back to it again. I've finished off with all of the pictures I had already taken... Thanks for the kind words all, Steve -
Recent events, reiterated by South Park, inspired this vignette idea. Joe Vig, in his attempt to improve cross-cultural relations, delivers a sculpture... It's a little risque, so think twice before clicking. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Vi.../sculpture5.jpg The whole riotous gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=178388 Steve, who would not be offended or surprised if this thread gets deleted...

The Adventures of Johnny Thunder 4
Athos replied to Athos's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Since the last installment took so long, I decided to make up for it and get another one off tonight. So here you go: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...tory/pop013.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...tory/pop014.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...tory/pop015.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...tory/pop016.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...tory/pop999.jpg The whole terrific-i-saurus gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=139871 Steve -
The Adventures of Johnny Thunder 4

Ok, ok... so its been over a month, but Earl of Alshire has convinced me to get started on the story again. So here is the next chapter: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...tory/pop009.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...tory/pop010.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...tory/pop011.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...tory/pop012.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...tory/pop999.jpg The whole "pteriffic" gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=139871 Steve -
Decoding Lego Hieroglyphics
Athos replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Well since Anubis is the God of the Dead and most of the sets are tombs, it makes sense Anubis would have a prominent place. Also, though I think less likely, didn't the Mummy 2 come out about that time and deal with the army of Anubis, so maybe it was a marketing gimmick? Steve -
This thread at classic castle has some nice pictures of the new armor and shield designs from the KK2v3 line. And as a pretty harsh KK2 basher, I must say these accessories look good. What KK2 should have been from the start. Steve

I don't know how I missed this one. It is very good and I especially admire your photoshopping skills. I really need to get me a halfway decent photo editor. I think the yellow works very well. If you had told me you were going to build an Egyptian temple primarily out of yellow, I'd have been quite skeptical and quite possibly would have laughed. But I hardly even noticed that it was yellow, until you mentioned the stickers. Steve

Another Joe Vig adventure, hopefully a bit less controversial than the last... http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Vi...ig/thegame1.jpg The whole 'sporting' gallery (including other Joe Vig vignettes): http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=122443 For anyone who doesn't have any idea what's going on: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Most_Dangerous_Game Steve

"Joe Vig's New Job" or "Leaving on a Jet Plane"
Athos replied to Athos's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Well first off, I didn't mean to offend anyone, though, I do admit, the possibility had crossed my mind. I just wanted to make it crystal clear what was going on here. And in my defense, the last (and only, that I can think of off hand) airplane hijacking was done by people from cultures that seem to dress similarly to the objected to figure. If it is inappropriate for eurobricks, then feel free to lock or delete the thread. I certainly didn't mean to cause a controversy here. Steve -
Had this idea a few days ago, initially not with a Joe Vig theme in mind, but as I thought it over, I thought it would be a good opportunity to make another Joe Vig vignette. I hope no one is overly offended by it: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Vi...JoeVig/tsa1.jpg The whole secure gallery (including more of Joe Vig's adventures): http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=122443 Steve

Here is a picture of what I'm talking about. It looks almost identical to the prototype fortress and very similar to the final product. Steve
-
I think these ideas are good, but they suffer from the typical fan suggested sets: too many minifigs. Particularly the wisteria lane set. Steve
-
Have you seen the playmobile Viking Fortress? It looks identical to the Lego one, same octagonal design. Steve

Favorite Adventure Subtheme
Athos replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Such a tough question. I really like them all. Orient was very well done and had some very nice sets. Egypt was great too because it was the first and we got lots of new stuff in nice sets. Amazon was probably the weakest, set wise. Though the river boat was very cool. Dino Island was, in my opinion, rather good, with the exception of the Track Master set. Steve -
I'm not a train guy (I would be, but I have to limit myself in some areas) but I think this looks very good. Steve

Ah ha! And just how would you know everyone was sleeping, if you yourself were asleep? Is not it true, Ms. Malone that you were not sleeping? Is it not true that you were in fact awake and sneaking around the plane? Is it not true that you are in fact, not a woman at all, but a man dressed as a woman, dressed as a man, pretending to be a woman? Is it not true that you are having an affair with the pilot, who is in reality a woman dressed as a man pretending to be a woman dressed as a man? And you and he, or she, conspired to steal the priceless Tiger's Roar? And then to exchange it for the Hope Diamond in a daring midnight raid on the Smithsonian, in what you thought was the perfect crime? UNTIL YOU SLIPPED UP! Is this not all true, Ms. Malone? Or should I call you, by your real name, Professor James Moriarty! Take them away boys... Case closed, Steve

To round out Caesar week, I present my final vignette commemorating the life of Caesar, Caesar's eulogy, as presented by Marc Anthony: "Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears; I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him. The evil that men do lives after them; The good is oft interred with their bones: So let it be with Caesar. The noble Brutus Hath told you Caesar was ambitious: If it were so, it was a grievous fault; And grievously hath Caesar answer'd it. Here, under leave of Brutus and the rest,-- For Brutus is an honourable man; So are they all, all honorable men,-- Come I to speak in Caesar's funeral. He was my friend, faithful and just to me: But Brutus says he was ambitious; And Brutus is an honourable man. He hath brought many captives home to Rome, Whose ransoms did the general coffers fill: Did this in Caesar seem ambitious? When that the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept: Ambition should be made of sterner stuff: Yet Brutus says he was ambitious; And Brutus is an honourable man. You all did see that on the Lupercal I thrice presented him a kingly crown, Which he did thrice refuse: was this ambition? Yet Brutus says he was ambitious; And, sure, he is an honourable man. I speak not to disprove what Brutus spoke, But here I am to speak what I do know. You all did love him once,--not without cause: What cause withholds you, then, to mourn for him?-- O judgment, thou art fled to brutish beasts, And men have lost their reason!--Bear with me; My heart is in the coffin there with Caesar, And I must pause till it come back to me." -Julius Caesar, Act III; Scene 2 http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Vi...ar/caesar5a.jpg The whole deaf gallery (Get it? Deaf, because they lent Anthony their ears... Sorry bad joke  ): http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=173360 Hail Caesar! Stephanus

Here is entry two, in my 'Caesar Week' celebration. In honor of Wednesday being the Ides of March, I've decided to declare this 'Caesar Week.' To celebrate, I plan to create a vignette each day portraying an incident from Caesar's life. Here is the first, Caesar Crosses the Rubicon: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Vi...ar/caesar1a.jpg The whole imperial gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=173360 Stephanus

I think we should interrogate the Brickster. When he around people always seem to be getting killed... Coincidence? I think not. Steve
