  1. Trying to talk my bride-to-be into letting me have a Lego cake topper. Here is my first attempt: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Mi...-and-groom1.jpg Here is my second attempt (my first try at miniland scale and shamelessly stolen from Tony's gallery): http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Mi...-and-groom1.jpg The whole matrimonial gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=247971 Steve
  2. Don't have any idea what this means... but its still news! Steve
  3. I thought this way would be more fun, but oh alright, here you go. X-D Steve
  4. I'd guess 6-8 hours was spent on it. Spent yesterday evening and this evening on it. Steve
  5. Johnny Thunder, Pippin Read and Dr. Kilroy prepare to enter the lost temple of Hathor. Their horses pant restlessly, in the desert sun. While Kilroy attempts to decipher the hieroglyphics on the obelisk, Pippin photographs the sphinx sculpture guarding the site. "Let's get inside!" shouts Johnny, "Sam and Alexa Sinister will be here soon!" Johnny leads his fellow adventurers inside the temple. The Baron laughs manically, as he lights the dynamite, preparing to spring his fiendish surprise upon Johnny. What will our heros find inside the Temple of Hathor? Priceless artifacts, cursed treasures, or certain death? Only you can decide, the fate of the Adventurers as the explore the Temple of Hathor! Steve
  6. I don't think Lego needs it. It would be quite easy to produce a quality Castle line without a license. And I think the Narnia hype has faded a lot. It didn't seem to have the staying power that Harry Potter and Star Wars had. Probably because the Narnia universe is closed and has been for over 50 years, while Star Wars and Harry Potter still have the ability to expand. Steve
  7. I personally would just like a historical theme. Almost any era and any locale would make me happy. Steve
  8. Maybe they could create a model of the Champs-
  9. The flowers were just to give it some color, so it wasn't just a big mass of green. I also thought they made it look jungle-y. Steve
  10. Very nice houses you've got there. Steve
  11. Such as? Steve
  12. Did these up last week while waiting for my favorite TV show to come on: Born to Run Man of Faith The whole mysterious gallery. Steve
  13. Yes. ;-) Steve
  14. Very cool. Though it looks like the Sphinx is suffering from some kind of gastro-intestinal distress... I've got to go see that. What would be really fun is to go to Vegas and then go see the Lego renditions, which is pretty feasible with Vegas and San Diego being in relatively close proximity. Steve
  15. Since I'm going to be away from my computer tomorrow, I thought I would post tomorrow's (and the final entry) of my Moses series today: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Vi...nts/moses7a.jpg The whole lawful gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=243573 Happy Easter! Steve
  16. I personally think we have way too many colors as it is. We have like six blues and five greens, and pinks and oranges and... and... and... What I would like to see, however, is, if we are going to have all these crazy colors, give us the bricks to actually build something with them. We have all of these colors, but hardly get more than a few (stupid) curved slopes and couple unwieldly long tiles and a handful of small plates. Now what am I going to do with those? You can hardly even tile a vignette with the small number of parts they give us. I have a whole bucket of colors that I don't have enough regular bricks to do anything with... So my suggestion is either: (1) stop making all these new colors and stick with a more managable palate; or (2) expand the number of pieces available in the new colors. Steve
  17. Yes. That's exactly my point. I want to be able to skim all the theater topics on a single page. Steve
  18. Actually here in the US, one of the networks usually shows the 10 Commandments every year on Easter Sunday evening. I just bought the DVD so I can watch it this weekend, without the pesky commercials. They are water. I played around with different ways of doing the tops and this works best. It also looks most like the water in the aforementioned movie. Steve
  19. I don't think this is a good idea (or should I say: "I've got a bad feeling about this"). Subforum upon subforum will lead to the problems in Pirates. I personally would like to be able to peruse all the theater themes in a single forum, rather than having to click my way into another subforum. I don't think the theater forum had enough traffic or topics to warrant spliting Star Wars into its own forum. It seems like it was just done to for the sake of doing it. Just so Star Wars would have its own forum... which it already does: fbtb... I think this will likely decrease visits, from people like me, who just don't want the hassle of having to peruse multiple subforums. I hardly ever visit the Pirate forum, for just that reason... Steve
  20. Part six in my Moses vignette series is ready for viewing: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Vi...Sea/moses6a.jpg The whole submarine gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=243572 Tomorrow: "Thou shall not miss this vignette" Steve
  21. The saloon is just too red for my taste. I think its the combination of red and brown. The general store, however, looks very good, Steve
  22. I got this one from one of those silly irritating forwarded email chain letters... for some reason I read it and thought this was funny: "Life is like space invaders, it just keeps getting faster and harder until you die." A self-contradicting statement... :-| Steve
  23. Very scary creation. The tree looks very good and the face fits into the tree scheme surprisingsly well. I think Lego should make a set like this. Steve
  24. I just hope its not too reliant on technic pieces, but I don't see how it could be otherwise. Steve
