That would take so many tan slopes. Steve

I've really never been anywhere :-( I was a history major in college, so I think that helps give me some familiarity with historical monuments and places. And, I guess my inspiration comes from dreaming about going places. I figure a Lego Abu Simbel is probably as close as I'll get to seeing it in person. Steve

Then by my count, you still owe us one... ;-) Two if you count that we gave you Jerry Lewis :-P Steve -
After escaping the dastardly Baron's trap at the Temple of Hathor, Johnny Thunder and his fearless adventurer companions travel to the mysterious Abu Simbel. The statue carved right into the rock face has intrigued Egyptologists throughout the ages. As the brave explorers survey the site, Prof. Kilroy stumbles upon a spooky embalmer looking for his next client and Johnny encounters the evil Pharaoh (the embalmer's last client) guarding his cursed treasures. Pippin's search, however, fairs much better, as she discovers a hidden Sapphire. What will you find at the mysterious Abu Simbel? Only time will tell... Steve

I think you should change these smiley icons: *n* *y* , to be more pirate-y. Perhaps you could change them to hooks pointing up and hooks pointing down? Steve

It is a sword, but he's not holding it. Its actually attached to his hip/belt. It just looks like he's holding it, in that picture. Steve

I know we've had this discussion on multiple occassions before. Though I won't fault you too much, as I'm just happy to see any more interest in Adventurers. So I'll point you to some helpful threads and resources: Africa New Subthemes The Adventurer Index adventurers.dk All my thoughts on the Adventurer line Steve

Ooooh, I never thought of doing a cop. That badge is just screaming for a miniland figure. Steve
-
It does look a little short/squashed for an American style vehicle. Though it appears to have proper proportions for a European car. I think it looks great. Need some passengers? Steve

I stayed up way too late last night and built a George Washington miniland figure. The whole independent gallery. The rest of Miniland. Steve

Me too, but I couldn't find a second one and had to improvise. X-D Steve

Someone has got the new 7094 King's Castle Siege!

That's a great face! Steve -
He's Robin Hood! The whole sherwood gallery. The rest of miniland. Steve

Those lightening bolt things look a lot like the light-sword from Halo. Steve

I'm surprised they were not considered to be hot sellers. I've not seen any on clearance and the store shelves seemed to always be empty. Steve

That would be interesting to see how that turned out. Or just to see which got more votes. I bet the Pirate forum poll would get more votes... you all seem to get a lot of action around here. To be truly accurate, however, we'd probably need two new polls started in each, at the same time, with perhaps a time limit on them. Let's put it in space... or better yet at classic-space.com. I bet they would appreciate that over there. X-D Steve

"Dead Men Tell No Tales" Vignette Contest - Discussion
Athos replied to Norrington's topic in Pirate MOCs
Two questions/suggestions: 1. Is there a limit on the size? I note you mention vignettes, but it appears the entries do not fit the classic (8x8) definition of vignette... Or are you just going for the best renditions of the ride? 2. Perhaps you could talk the admins into giving the winner a special banner on his profile, as a prize? Steve -
Well the miniland figures have been nixed, as she thought they looked too creepy without faces. Oh well... Steve

Adventurers! Then castle, then pirates. Steve P.S. I hardly think this is a fair poll, as it is posted in a pirate forum and thus any results would very likely be skewed in favor of Pirates. Thus, given the preferential treatment afforded to Pirates and the nearly 50-50 split between Pirates and Castle, I must presume Castle (I believe the term is) pwns Pirates...

Thanks! I did up the bride and groom miniland figures (stealing Tony Sava's design) and wanted to see if I could do one on my own. And someone over at classic-castle chatroom suggested I try a pirate, so there he is... Steve
-
Thanks. I actually thought the Pharaoh was weaker than the Pirate, so its nice to hear it's liked. Yes, but only by about an hour. Probably not. I think vignettes are much more versatile than miniland. Miniland is pretty much limited to a single figure, where as with a vignette you can have multiple figures to create a whole scene. Steve

Another miniland figure: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Mi...oh/pharaoh1.jpg The whole pharaonic gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=247977 The whole miniland scale gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=247942 Steve, who thinks he might have found something he likes more than vignettes... 8-

My second attempt at a miniland scale figure and my first Pirate MOC. Thought it would make Phes' day... http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Mi...e/redbeard1.jpg The whole piratical gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=247972 Steve
