  1. A day celebrating the defeat of the French? What's with that? If the anyone else had a holiday for each time they defeated the French, they'd have to take a whole month off... :-P Steve
  2. Maybe you could have this Mariachi Band playing at your fort? Same way they get to the upper deck of the pirate ships, or for that matter the top of any Lego structures, they jump... Steve
  3. I'm of a mixed mind about it. I don't mind that he does Bible scenes, including the "inappropriate" ones, as they are contained in the Bible. On the other hand, I'm not a huge fan of his commentary and some of his editing. Specifically, I take issue with his less than balanced titling of certain entries and other similar editiorializing. It seems pretty clear he isn't a fan of religion... which makes me wonder what his intentions are. On a lesser note, I'm not a huge fan of his modification of bricks either... I, on the other hand, am a big proponent of Sunday School. Steve
  4. Where did you get the torso for Aves? Steve, who is here to help...
  5. Looks very good. An interesting way to go about showing the two layers. I wonder if trans-blue would be more effective than solid blue? I'm not sure if the foilage fits with the underwater scene, but I imagine you used what you had available. Some of the new aquaraiders stuff would look good down there. Steve
  6. Yes, as a matter of fact I do. Its a pully wheel. I may even have one somewhere... First apologies for subtracting from your name. Secondly, I didn't notice the ewok wing cape (didn't know ewoks had wings for that matter ;-) ). I thought the pattern on the cloth was just stray lighting. I don't know if it would have made a difference, since I don't condone mutilating parts... Thirdly, I felt it was ok to criticize figures for lack of creativity, since I felt mine suffered from the same defect. Though, now I'm thinking lack of creativity is a poor choice of words. Most of the entries I criticized for a lack of creativity are actually just as creative as those I did not criticize. They lack something though, I think it may be color and flair (not chachi's type flair mind you). The figures I criticized relied too heavily on a single color: black (or in norrinton's case, purple). Simon :-P Steve
  7. Got to go with Sir Dillon's. Even though I don't like the final effect of the metal arm, the idea is really clever. Plus I love the hat. And the staff is very good too. Sir Nadroj's. For some reason the color scheme, particularly the dark red hair and that face works very well together. Plus all the birds just makes him plain creepy... like a Hitchcock movie. Alex54's was a close second, though the Viking torso didn't seem very wizardy to me, the picking berries seemed very wizardy. Got to go with Brickster's. Hands down. No competition. My comments on the rest: Norrington: I don't like the red hair and purple clothes combination... And the laboratory, particularly the walls, isn't up to snuff. I do, however, love the crazy monkeys. All in all, I think the figure suffers from the same defect as mine: a lack of creativity... Darkspawn: great staff idea, I'll be stealing that... The Voldemort face also makes him look quite evil. In the end, though, with all the black he just looks too plain. Phes: simple as it is, its strangely quite effective. Alex54: love the outdoors workshop. Staff is nice too. Would be better if they made a lightsaber handle in white, so it all matched. 007: Nice choice on the face. Again I like the staff... does that piece fit securely in there? The workshop doesn't look cluttered enough to me, but I love the birdstand. Imperial Shadows: Workshop needs some work, more variation in the walls, I think. The pastel birds and books don't go with the black wizard and dark surroundings, they seem very out of place. Again, I think your wizard, as with mine and Norrington's lacks creativity. Khorne: Great staff again. Its so simple, I kick myself for not thinking of it sooner. I love the outdoorsy gardenlike setting. Optimus Convoy: Interesting choice of face, I'm not sure if I like it or not. Very creepy laboratory. I think the undead would be better represented by a fleshy rising from the cauldron. Same thing with the stack of heads, which I would arrange differently, more of a pile rather than tower... Hinckley38: lacks creativity. He's really just a Palpatine with a different face. It is a good face though! Ghoulrealm: I don't like whatever head you used. The white rim around the hair and beard really stands out. The use of the dementor cloak works very well here. Nice staff as well. Athos: strange that you're the only one to enter a enchantress. I think a different face would have made her more menacing. Lacks a certain creativity, since the only think you did was swap arms and head from a Willa torso. The spider on the wall really messes up the picture, since it blends with the staff. And the black cup doesn't show up well either. Steve
  8. Doesn't that Anakin hair just scream Steve, who's is the superior intellect...
  9. Who gave it a three and why? 5/5 here. Steve
  10. Another Churchhill quip: Lady Nancy Astor: If I was your wife, I'd put poison in your tea Churchhill: Madam, if you were my wife, I'd drink it. I think its: "There's no point in living, if you can't feel alive." Steve
  11. How odd? *wacko* Try this link. Steve
  12. I think the announcement said Medium Blue... whatever blue that is... The Harry Potter car maybe? Steve
  13. Looks stupendous! Great color scheme and everything! Steve
  14. Looks very good. I'm especially keen on the use of the two island plates. My only suggestion would be to widen each of the base structures (at the expense of the arch and make the arch yellow, so it matches the corners of the structures. I hope that makes sense. Did they have lighthouses in the Carribean? Steve
  15. Here is a listing of all minifig headgear produced by Lego, so you can look and see what would best fit your need. Quite a handy feature at bricklink. Steve
  16. Darn, I was envisioning a Mission Impossible style incursion into the Lego vault... X-D Steve, who is anxiously waitng for reviews of the sets...
  17. I love the hat and staff. Definately going to be stealing both of those designs. That hat would make great toadstool people/elves/gnomes/whatevers. And while it is an interesting idea, I'm just not real fond of the metal arm though. That seems a little cruel... ingenious (Macgyer-esque even), but still cruel... Steve
  18. Is it easter eggs? Or perhaps Red October? Though those are both more of hunts, rather than searches. I bet we're searching for Spock...! X-D Steve
  19. The one I know it from is: Sphinx Secret Surprise. I also think it came with some Belville sets. Steve
  20. Great creation. My only complaint is it looks like its riding a bit too high and the wheel are too small. Almost like its going to tip over and/or crush the wheels. I'd maybe substitute the wheels from the Elephant Caravan set and have their axles run right at the base of the wagon, as seen here. Steve
  21. I bought my copy with my first paycheck from my first paid job in the legal arena! X-D Steve
  22. Interesting creation. I wish Lego would make a haunted house set. I like the fence and gate, as well as the very nice use of that screwy baseplate. I'm not real fond of LCAD creations though and would much rather see a real-life photo. Steve
  23. Ooooh, I'm the only one packin' a weapon. You all had better be careful... ;-) Steve
