What junk... Steve

This is one of my favorite pirate sets. It is simple elegant and has enough elements and parts to make a respectable pirate island. I'm especially fond of the island baseplate. Sure its a little pricey for the piece count, but still with all the stuff (parrot, monkey, shooting cannon (mine came with one), two pirates, barrell, palm tree, treasure chest) its still a great set. Yes. I got a bag like that in my Dark Fortress too. It had the knight's armor (not that I needed any more of those silly parts) and the striped shields and some other parts in it. Steve

Had to go with Lagoon Lockup. Its the most complete, though I really like the green doors in the Armada Sentry set. And Sabre Island was one of my first sets and I love that island baseplate. Steve

Might be fun. Though I have no experience with such and have no idea how it would work. Maybe you could call it B&B for bards and bricks... Steve

Merchants. All generic characters, with no names and no back stories... Harbor Ferry: small row boat (maybe include the small sail), one merchant figure, a bunch of crates and barrells loaded in the boat, and a shark ($10). Smuggler's Sloop: small ship, similar to the one in Imperial Trading Post. Comes with two smugglers. ($20). Smuggler's Cove: Burpy cave, with cargo hidden inside. Cannon to guard the cave. Includes a sail row boat, with two smugglers and a captured guard. ($20) Custom House: similar to Lagoon Lockup, but with merchantile theme. Has a room for trading, with cargo in an open attic above and a sleeping/eating/living room. One merchant, one customer, one pirate smuggler in row boat. Includes monkey. ($30) Merchantman: similar to Carribean Clipper, but bulkier. Has minimal armaments. Lots of cargo. Four merchants. ($50) Trading Post: similar to imperial trading post. Pretty much just a reworking of the set. Includes a guard, wench, a couple of merchants and smuggler. ($100). Maybe I'll work up some mock-ups of these... Realistically, I don't see Lego going down this route for a remake of pirates. Especially, in the launching line. For that I'd imagine: (1) Large Pirate Ship for $100; (2) Medium Merchant Ship (more likely soldiers' ship) for $50; (3) Shipwreck Island for $30; (4) Trading Post (more likely a small fort) for $30; (5) Small Schooner (probably pirates) for $20; (6) Cannon Patrol Sentry Boat for $10. I like the farm and the residential houses. If I was still working on my western town (and hadn't cannibalized it for parts) I would have to copy some of these designs. Steve

I think I should apologize here, as I was one of those who just stopped posting. It just got too hard for me to keep up... and seemed kind of pointless to be commenting on something that occurred three pages back... I'll have to go back and read all the story now that its done. Steve

Why are the trolls in their underpants? 8-| Steve -

Those mandrakes make great troll heads. I like the roof on your building, but am not real fond of the multicolored walls. Steve -
Lego Rep Gives Information on Leaked Images
Athos replied to Starwars4J's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I don't blame Lego at all for trying to minimize leaking of the prototype pictures, but once they are out, its good for them to comment. After all they aren't going to unleak the pictures (taking pee out of the pool analogy again). Once they are out, they're out for good and may as well use it as a opportunity to demonstrate customer/fan service. Yay for Lego... yay for beards... yay for new sets... Steve -
Not to mention that Indy is still in the set... :-| Steve

Probably make some pretty cool rock band groupies though... X-D Steve
-
I like the Jedi hoods, since they can be used in other themes. Steve
-
I imagine there will be. After all the movies are called "Indiana Jones and the..." Can you think of a single memorable scene that Indy isn't in? The Belloq and Dietrich walking/talking scene probably won't make it into a set. Steve
-
I'm a little disappointed we didn't get a new goblin helmet (though at least its not Goblin Ross and the Supremes). The beards more than make up for the lack of a new helmet though. Still not a big fan of the new sword either. Steve

Nice to Lego continuing this line. Is this the 4th house now? That being said, I'm not real fond of the yellow. It looks nice in the model (and the architecture is great), but I don't need anymore yellow bricks or black roof pieces for that matter. What I'd like to see is a grey house with a sand green (or better yet) sand blue roof. Steve

Since it was nearly 4 years ago that he said it, I don't think he knew what he was talking about... Though we did see the 4 Junior's pirates the following year. Personally, I wouldn't place too much stock in a 4 year old comment by an anonymous poster... Steve

Its not done for all the themes, just the notable new ones... (i.e. Batman and Vikings, but not Sponge-Bob and Exo-Farce) Steve

Where do Rare/HTF Parts come from?
Athos replied to Turaga of Force's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Blast, I may to snag the crab crusher now... :-| Steve -
We should. We had Viking month, Batman month and even Harry Potter month (for goodness sake). I think we should have an Indy month. Steve

Ooooh, from where do the silver horns come? Steve -
You mean the "Rolls-Royce Phantom two. 4.3 litre, 30 horsepower, six cylinder engine, with Stromberg downdraft carburetor, can go from zero to 100 kilometres an hour in 12.5 seconds." ;-) Steve
