Why the ridiculous size limit of 100 kb?
Bonaparte replied to Carsten Svendsen's topic in Forum Information and Help
The main reason for this limit is to keep our total size on disk as small as possible. That keeps us very mobile (in case I need to move the site to a new server, new provider, etc.). And there's a weekly backup of this entire site (incl. all the pics on our server) going all the way to my home PC. If our size on disk would be 1TB that would be harder to manage. For storing pics you best use Flickr, Brickshelf, etc. and 'deeplink' them from the forum. -
Important message: There's an explicit written request from LEGO inside this topic to not post any links to confidential pictures about Legends of Chima. While our default policy is to allow links, in this case the game changes because of the request from Kim Thomsen. Any direct request from LEGO overrules our 'default policy', so the staff will make sure the request is honored. No more pictures or links to pictures in this thread related to confidential material about Legends of Chima!

REVIEW: 8833 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 8
Bonaparte replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Out of this series I like the Actor the most. It's a nice addition for any civilian pirates scene, thank you LEGO! Next comes the Lederhosen guy. It's such an authentic figure represention a true German or Austrian. All Germans and Austrians wear them, right? And then there's the conquistador which fits well with the old ones. Could have been better if the torso had a nice print, but you can't have everything. Thanks you Whitefang for 100 superb reviews -
Very professional review of this classic pirate set. Thanks a lot!

A warm welcome from the Belgian neighbors

I've done checks on our server but couldn't find anything so far. There are no server resource issues like CPU, memory, etc. I'll do some more visual checks of a number of (large) logfiles soonish.

A few weeks ago we conducted a survey asking our members to submit their top 5 of missing LEGO animals. By now the votes are counted and a report is ready for sending to LEGO. You can check out the results here in our forum.

I think part of the reason was this CUUSOO project by our Wrinkledog showing the potential of a LEGO deer. This picture was also in the original post where people could cast their votes. Ah crap, yes, I meant Paradisa. I'll correct it. Thanks for pointing that out. EDIT: Fixed and new version uploaded to the first post. It did reset the '# of downloads' counter which was at 51 (added for my own reference).

A few weeks ago we conducted a survey asking our members to submit their top 5 of missing LEGO animals. Here are the results: 1st place: sheep Many think a LEGO sheep is long overdue which resulted in a first place. Also, it was mentioned several times that a sheep with removable fleece would be a welcome bonus. 2nd place: Deer With only 1 vote less than the sheep, the deer ended up in 2nd position. 3rd place: Lion The King of animals ended 3rd place, not far behind the sheep and the deer. 4rd place: Wolf 5th place: Tiger You can have a look at the full top 20, with individual votes per animal, in the attached report (downloadable only when you are signed in). This report will be submitted to LEGO. LEGO and Animals.pdf

[Software] LDD2PovRay
Bonaparte replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Impressive results! Almost looking like the real thing I recently installed LDD on my PC (for a future project) and I'll give this a try as soon as I made more progress with my LDD creation. -
Nice to see ZCerberus and Rogueang live in action!

Inside our "General Discussion and News"-forum there's an interesting discussion ongoing about The Golden Age of LEGO. Are we now in the second Golden Age of LEGO, with the first one being from 1978-1995? When did the 2nd Golden Age start in your view and which sets/events marked the start? Or do you have a totally different view? Join the discussion and share your view in this discussion topic.

BrickArms Musket and Flintlock Pistol Now Available
Bonaparte replied to the enigma that is badger's topic in Pirate MOCs
These are amazingly detailed and simply fantastic! They are much better than any weapons which LEGO has produced for the pirates theme. Thanks for adding these to the Brickarms portfolio. -
Thanks again to Wrinkledog for showing us how a future LEGO Tiger could/should look like. The regular (orange) Tigers: And what about some White Tigers Wanna vote for these on CUUSOO? Go here at once. You can discuss these Tiger designs in our forums in this thread. And it's still not too late to submit your top 5 of most wanted missing LEGO animals (results will be provided to LEGO). Maybe we should call this Animals Week

Only Duplo might have those (I'm not much of Duplo expert), but nothing minifig scale.

ARTICLE: LEGO and Animals In 1984 the Classic LEGO Horse was released and it remained the most interesting LEGO animal for many years. It was (and is) liked and loved by fans over a range of themes from Castle, City, Belville, Prince of Persia to Pirates and Wild West. Later in the 80's we got some more animals like Parrots, Monkeys and Sharks when the first Pirates line was released in 1989. However during the 90's the LEGO fans didn't see many new animals, except for a cat and few others but nothing spectacular, and non of those even came close to the popularity of the classic LEGO Horse from the 80's. The 90's could be seen as the 'dark ages' for LEGO animals. After the Millennium things finally started to improve with the release of some new interesting animals like the amazing Elephant (Adventurers theme), Owls with Harry Potter, and a Dog in 2004. But it was in the year 2009 when LEGO finally released an animal which could compete in terms of popularity with the good old LEGO Horse: No, it's not the Fish but the breathtaking LEGO Cow! There were 2 versions, one with the well known back & white pattern and another one in reddish brown. The removable horns being the icing on the cake! The fans had to wait 25 years after the release of the Horse for getting their long requested Cow. It's hard to grasp why it took LEGO so long as it was very easy to predict the Cow would become an instant classic. The next 'big thing' for LEGO animals came in 2010 with the release of a fleshy Pig. The Pig immediately entered my top 3 of LEGO animals, with the Horse on a firm 1st place and the Cow on a 2nd position. Thinking of it, some of the most important animals (for food production) in our real world are a Cow, Pig, Horse ... and of course Chicken which finally entered the LEGO universe in the year 2011. LEGO by now had understood the fans wanted more animals which was evident from the release of a detailed Goat together with the Chickens in the Kingdoms series. Let's not forget the year before there was a Camel and Ostrich as part of the Prince of Persia theme (2010) allowing fans to explore the deserts of the world. In our current year (2012) we already got the instant popular Bear (certainly so judging from the Bricklink prices), which is very high on my own shopping list. To be complete, this year there were also the Dino's which I consider 'special animals' being extinct and having limited usefulness for most themes. While LEGO is clearly catching up, there are still a lot of animals missing which I'm hoping to see in future sets. I'd love some LEGO Lions, Tigers and Sheep, but also wouldn't mind some Deer, Moose, Cheetahs, Gorilla's, Giraffes and Panthers. Not to forget the Bird segment which has a lot of untapped potential (Falcons anyone?). In an ideal world LEGO would make a Zoo set or better an entire Zoo subtheme, not in Duplo, but a regular subtheme that's complementary with LEGO City just like the Forest Police subtheme. Doing this LEGO would speed up their 'Animal catch up efforts' and spoil us fans with a nice variety of LEGO Animals just like we have nowadays with the minifigures. A few days ago I stumbled upon some designs by our member Wrinkledog which show the potential of some of the animals that are mentioned in my wish list. This is what a LEGO Cheetah family could look like: And a family of LEGO Deer: And maybe some LEGO Lions? To give the project of Wrinkledog a push in the right direction and make LEGO aware that 'we want more', go here on CUUSOO to cast your vote. You can discuss Wrinkledog's designs here in our forums where you find some of his other designs like Elk, Kangaroos and Moose. We'd love to hear about your top 5 of 'missing animals', so share it with us in this forum topic. I will summarize all your feedback and provide LEGO a top 10 of most wanted animals based on this survey.
