  1. I'm counting between 65-70 studs for the mid section. This would give us 8 or 9 midsections! (8 studs/midsection) But i'm not convinced this ship uses the Lego mid sections. My guess is that the hull is custom made. I would very much like to get the MLCad design files of this ship.
  2. I do Mr. Phes. This picture was actually posted by Mr. Tiber in the Excalibur thread. You see the ship-of-the-line HMS Victory (has 1 more gundeck as the Bellerophon) at the battle of Trafalgar. My next MOC will be a ship-of-the-line like this one (with some improvement like higher masts, real cannons on the upper deck, a crew, sails, interior details). This will be a very big project but I have already started preparations (bought 2 Black Seas Barracuda's on Ebay without boxes for their pieces). But first I will be finishing the Excacibur which might still take considerable time. What I would like to know: Is this ship build on a standard Lego hull? How much mid-sections are used? I have contacted the creator of this lovely ship and invited him to join the discussion. And here is one of the HMS Bellerophon for comparison: My 800th post!
  3. This color scheme if one on the best and most realistic. These colors are very typical for an English ship of the line. The stern look great indeed. The Imperator is correct about the masts not being high enough. The biggest mast (what's it called?) should be about as high as the length of the hull of the ship. Don't believe everything you hear Mr. Norrington, I'm still here :-P
  4. There are some very original ideas in your vignettes Athos. I always enjoy them.
  5. Lets see I you are still that brave when you are looking into the Excaliburs guns Mr. P :-D I will give you a preview of the last image you might see before joining your ship at the bottom of the ocean :-P
  6. Oh dear, so ugly. The side is white, only 4 guns/side, but 4 masts (probably because of some rule in the game). I will shoot this ugly MF into pieces in no time.
  7. This guy is very good indeed. Some of these items are useful as accessory in some of my MOCs. Thanks Hobbes!
  8. You liar :-D Welcome!
  9. I just took a quick look at the Evil Stevie's Pirate game (because I never did and didn't know how it worked). It seems the players have to be in the same physical location. Is this always needed for these games?
  10. Have a nice birthday and hopefully you guys get lots of Lego presents!
  11. The standard stormtrooper in my favorite SW minifig
  12. According to my humble opinion: - Pirates: Bad - Imperial Soldiers: Good - Imperial Guards: Good - Imperial Armada: Good - Islanders: Good
  13. Why can't we switch the management of Playmobil with the management of Lego? Then we would have all those great themes like Rome, Conquistadors, ...
  14. I have started indexing all the cannon designs into the accessories section. Soon I will remove the numbers in front of the thumbs and remove the "work in progress" status.
  15. That would be a good rule indeed. Minimum 3 studs or you are putting an unrealistic number of guns on the ship. Because they can't be operated when there is not enough space between them. With custom guns it might be needed to have more than 3 studs. I fully agree with Mr. Phred on this. And even if you want to use the standard Lego cannons, you can choose to have more than 3 studs. But hey, don't complain if you ever meet my ship in battle and suddenly discover that you have not enough firepower because of all the studs between your cannons :-D .
  16. I'm currently building a French frigate. Here is a picture of the latest status: And my next project will be an English "ship of the line" or at least a ship with 2 gundecks (in a black and yellow color scheme).
  17. I always start building a MOC with the brick that I already have. And of course during the building process I always discover that I'm missing stuff. So then I start looking on BL and try to buying all pieces that I need from 1 (ideal situation) or 2 shops situated in Belgium or Europe. Just reached 50 buys on BL.
  18. Just bought 10 Imperial Soldiers with flintlock muskets on ebay.
  19. Eagles - Hotel California
  20. Now it is much better Mr. Z. The grey at the stern is now much more in harmony with the rest and is not disturbing me anymore. Looking at your 3 ships, my favorite would be a mix of the Arbiter II and the Sienna. Let me explain :-D . The Arbiter II has some very original and unique techniques (the way how the sides of the ship open) and it has a great color scheme. But I like the lower stern of the Sienna. Its more integrated in the ship and so I like the overall shape and the line of the Sienna a bit more.
  21. Indeed, it does look much better now! An extra mid-section and 3 studs between the guns make a big difference. I just finished the other side of the hull. Once my bricklink order arrives (was shipped today from England) I can complete the hull and I will post some good pictures of the finished hull.
  22. You're maybe right. French ships might have had other color schemes than red/black. But back on-topic :-D : With all the discussions on 2 or 3 studs between the guns and frigate or not, I decided to do some changes: - Added 1 hull section, so now there are 6 mid-sections. - Three studs in stead of 2 between the cannons. - Added 1 canon on each side, so there is a total of 20 cannons on the gundeck. - You can also notice some changes on the stern (fence). And this is how is looks after the modifications: And this is a picture before the modifications:
  23. Yes yes yes, you started on your new ship! Thats great news Mr. Tiber! How many decks will this ship have? Can you give a hint on the color scheme you will be using? Lets all agree officially that 3 studs between the cannons it best! Not 2, not 4 but 3! I'm considering to organize a poll on the optimal number of studs between the cannons :) Nothing personal my best friend Mr. Pianodude2494!
  24. A typical British ship during the napoleonic wars would be yellow/black and a French red/black.
  25. I haven't decided yet. I guess the colors would suggest that it's a French ship. But maybe it was captured by the English :-D Thats what I like about Lego, everything is possible...
