What would you pay extra for the box
Bonaparte replied to Bonaparte's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It's the same for me. Now I'm buying all the sets that I couldn't afford during my youth. Suppose you want to buy the same set multiple times (for example, to build a fleet of ships), would you only collect (and pay extra for) 1 box and buy the others without the box? I know, I have a lot of questions :-D . -

I have a question that you or Mosana might be able to answer. What was the purpose of the metal plate? -
Sets containing piratical and/or complimentary elements!
Bonaparte replied to Berry Syedow's topic in LEGO Pirates
Good idea to merge the threads Mr T. My brain somehow didn't think of that possibility :-D -
I still have a lot of those narrow hull pieces, but somehow I was never interested in using them. But seeing this, I've decided to make a ship with them (starting tonight). What I'm missing are some good close-up pictures of the deck (especially the quarter-deck) and the bow of the ship. Would it still be possible to take some additional close-ups?
-
Wow, this looks good *wub* It is build on narrow hull, but it still looks big. The only time I noticed the ship isn't very wide is in this picture (with the guns back-to-back): Did you base this design on a real ship? Would be nice to see some pictures.

LIBRARY: Pirate Torso/Decal/Sticker Designs
Bonaparte replied to Bonaparte's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
A this moment, I download a sticker on my PC and do the resizing manually. Having these big sized torso's (larger than minifig-sizes) makes it easy to view them and to change some colors (or other details) after download. The disadvantage is that a user needs to have the skill to resize them to minifig size (maybe we need some kind of manual for this?). For my understanding, would you propose we have an minifig-sized-torso for each torso in the library next to the full sized version? This will bring a lot of work since there are almost 400 torso's... -

The French Infantry Officer and Soldier are new ones? Those I haven't seen before. Do you also have a larger version for the library? I'll reply to your question "Would be nice to have a gallery of the stickers" in the library thread. -
Sets containing piratical and/or complimentary elements!
Bonaparte replied to Berry Syedow's topic in LEGO Pirates
Welcome at Eurobricks Hans! I don't see much difference between this thread and the Sets containing piratical and/or complimentary elements-thread. This thread explicitly handles piratical elements/pieces in current sets, but since the other thread didn't exclude current sets, I think we better continue this discussion there and close this topic. -
I think this is a major achievement for a first ship! You certainly have great potential and are most welcome on our forum. We have a Batch Image Resize Tutorial for resizing pictures so the all fit nicely in a thread and are easy to watch with a "not-so-fast-internet-connection".

Welcome at Eurobricks! I've put a picture in your first post so people can immediatly see the ship. This looks like an excellent pirate ship for operations close to the coast. The color scheme is very good and it has some nice details (like the hatch and the skeleton figurehead).

I've moved this tutorial to the The Great Library of Honduras and added it to the Indexes - Libraries - Tutorials index on top of the MOC forum (it was still missing). Thanks Mr. P & P for bringing this to my attention!

Brick Testament: Education or Exploitation?
Bonaparte replied to Norrington's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I like the MOCs and scenes of the Brick Testament. They are very well build and have "some" historical meaning. I have many doubts about the historical accuracy of the Bible itself, so why not take some freedom when using it as a source for MOCs -
This topic has been splitted! Personally, I would be willing to buy non-Lego shako's as long as they are identical to the official Lego shako. Because the official shako is plain black, it can be easily decorated with paper for making a distinction between different factions. The main reason is because I already own 350 official Lego shako's and I don't want to mix these with a non-official version that looks different. I believe it is important we agree on this first before convincing a modeler to start producing them. We should also work on a "business case", so we can convince a modeler to start the production of shako's. If we want to convince someone to start producing shako's and pay the initial costs for starting a production, he will need a good idea about the size of the potential market because this person wants to make some money! So how much money would you guys be willing to spend on these shako's? What would be an acceptable price per item (knowing that the current price on bricklink is around $2-$2,5 with only very low quantities available per shop)?
-
The entire discussion about custom shako's has been move to the Pirate LEGO Discussions forum. Link to the new topic: We need SHAKO's, discussing the possibility for custom shako's.
-
I'm interested in their answer. But I fear that they are not allowed to make an identical shako as the one from Lego.

I prefer the British colonial wars! Are these the uniforms you have in mind?

Everywhere I look, I discover these great reviews! If there is ever a new Pirate line, I hope you will honor us by making the reviews! I don't plan to buy the big (expensive) castle, but some of these smaller sets are on my list. I want to get my hands om some of these new minifigs and weapons.

Who are all the Pirate Lego fans on this board?
Bonaparte replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
It's good to have you back Governor! Did you build any MOC in your absence? -
But these are differences between different EF sets. Was that also mentioned in the post on BL?

That's another great review Mr. Yoda! You seem to have a lot of time and money to buy all these sets ;-) . Anyway, I like the big amount of pictures you have in your reviews. As Napleon once said: "A picture is worth a thousand words". About the set, I really like this tower. It's very accessible for minifigs and looks great. The tower is certainly better than the one of the old cargo ship (4030).

The Trooper, Zouave and Turco look great! Can you put some dates on those uniforms? Do we already have a French Marshal uniform? Did the marshals of Napoleon have something like a standard uniform? Here's Marshal Louis Alexandre Berthier in his uniform: Marshal Andr

That picture is actually from the set I bought yesterday in the UK. I found another set on eBay (in Germany) that also had the "high water". I'll post a better picture of my Eldorado fortress once it has arrived.
-
The blue color at the bottom of the baseplate is representing the water. However, on all the real pictures of the Eldorado fortress that I find on the internet, the water (on the front) is much higher as depicted on the peeron instruction. I prefer the lower water because it is most realistic. The high water would flood part of the ramp. Now I wonder if all the sets are with the high water, while the pictures on the box/instructions depict the set with low water.
-
Yesterday I won an auction for an Eldorado Fortress (67 euro + 20 euro shipping). It still has the box, plastic inlay and instruction. Again I'm praying the set is in perfect condition as promised by the seller. Btw, I got my money back from the Imperial Trading Post that I recently bought, but was shipped by accident to China.

What would you pay extra for the box
Bonaparte replied to Bonaparte's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well, I have decided to buy all the pirate sets I'm still missing and that are worth buying. So I'll be spend a big part of my Lego budget on this. That's why I started doubting if it is really worth all the extra money to buy all these sets with the boxes included. Btw, I just won an auction for the Eldorardo Fortress including instructions, box and plastic inlay (67,79 euro - shipping not included).
