  1. Hey Frank, Welcome on EB! I'm also from Belgium and about the same age as yourself. B.
  2. Doc, I could test order a twin room, but when I checked for 1 adult and 2 children I also go the message that no rooms are available. I propose you drop the hotel a call (+44 (0) 1753 609988) or write an email (beth.dicken@oakleycourt.co.uk). Mention that you are part of the Eurobricks group.
  3. Last time when the event was in the UK we paid £65/€83 (2011 prices!) at the Sunnydale. The Sunnydale wasn't available this time (fully booked by a company during weekdays for the entire year), so after a search we only could find this hotel which can host a group of our size in the neighborhood of Windsor. This hotel is at £74/€95 per night slightly more expensive than the Sunnydale in 2011 (there is a delta of £9/€12 per night to be exact). That said, I wished we could find a suitable place for half this price, but that just isn't possible in the UK and around the area of Windsor/London.
  4. Eurobricks moved to a new Winter graphics and we are very interested to find out what you think about it! Also let us know what you think about the increased height of the banner. Please share your feedback here.
  5. I've split this discussion from the one about repairing worn out contacts.
  6. Since we're off-topic anyway (I'll clean up this topic later), let me continue a bit. We do have a moderator who's keeping an eye on the discussions in the Train Tech forum, but what we don't have is a regulator maintaining the indexes. Would there be any candidates for such a role?
  7. This weekend the biggest LEGO event of Belgium is taking place in Antwerp. Anyone planning on coming? Discussion is here.
  8. Anyone planning on going to Brickmania Antwerp next weekend? I'm planning on going there on Sunday (time is not confirmed).
  9. Absolutely amazing So much details and amazing stuff all over. You really managed to capture the feeling and atmosphere from those fotoos/drawings/paintings into LEGO
  10. We don't see it like that. Eurobricks in my mind is owned by the people who are a part of this community, members and staff. There's not one person who's in charge and the responsibilities are spread over our staff. For example, our star wars moderator is in charge of the star wars forum. He has the final say over everything that happens in there. We do have special mechanisms in place to make sure decisions can be made when the staff are divided over a subject. In such scenario's the root admins could force the decision, but so far this was never needed (to the best of my recollection). When it comes to 'physically owning' Eurobricks, our assets are spread over different admins: our server is on my name, the URL is on Jipay's name while our Google ads are on Sinner's name. We really want this to be a place of the LEGO fans, and that's reflected all the way in our staff organisation. I think that's pretty unique in the online AFOL community!
  11. The banner is designed by Hinckley, the skin by Shadows. Do you see it now?
  12. And the winners for this raffle are: - Aanchir - SSchmidt - Huntleyfx Congratulations, you are going to ComicCon!!! Please PM me as soon as possible with your detailed info: - your name - full address - Telephone number on which you can be reached And the same for the companion who'll be going along with you.
  13. We are an AFOL site (Adult Fan Of Lego) and you must be 18 in order to join (or much closer to that age than you are). Sorry, but I have to ban you.
  14. Pirates is the only forum where the banner changes with the time of the day. There are currently no plans to replicate this for other forums (it took almost 1 year to develop and test the pirate skin). All our tech resources are occupied for the foreseeable future on another high priority project.
  15. A youtube movie containing pictures of the upcoming '75060 UCS Slave I' has been revealed by our member just2good in our Star Wars forum. Just2good also promises to soon post hi-res pictures, so you better stay tuned ;). Here's the link. EDIT: Our member just2good has lived up to his promise and just posted the high resolution pictures. You can find them here.
  16. About the slogan: I discussed this with the staff and we concluded that the slogan is nice to have, but not mandatory. So it you can be more creative without the slogan then so it is. The EB logo is mandatory.
  17. Ideally the slogan is there. So The answer is yes, it's necessary. Can you adapt your banner to include the slogan? But if it's restriction you too much then show us what you can do without it and we'll think about this more. I discussed this with the staff and we concluded: the slogan is nice to have, but not mandatory. So it you can be more creative without the slogan then so it is. The EB logo is mandatory. The reach box is a separate element from the banner. It's like on top of the banner, generated by the forum software, so don't worry about it.
  18. We are having a raffle open to all our members for 3x 2 tickets for day 1 of NYC ComicCON – Thursday, October 9. LEGO will be holding a panel at 1 p.m. that day and host a very special event where a brand new LEGO theme will be announced. The ticket will get you in to ComicCON on that day and the panel and the special evening event. Find out more here.
  19. You really have to show a little bit more enthusiasm for joining the raffle... I'm adding one more requirement: write a few words on why you should be the one winning these tickets.
  20. This is a raffle open to all our members for 3x 2 tickets for day 1 of NYC ComicCON – Thursday, October 9. LEGO will be holding a panel at 1 p.m. that day and host a very special event where a brand new LEGO theme will be announced. The ticket will get you in to ComicCON on that day and the panel and the special evening event. Pretty awesome, isn't it? This raffle only provides the ticket, not travel and accommodation. Requirements to enter this raffle: Able to be in NYC on Thursday, October 9 Report back here on EB with few pictures and words about what LEGO has revealed (you'll be our reporter onsite). There will be 3 random winners for this raffle, each getting 2 tickets (so you can bring someone along with you). Winners will be announced in 1 week from now. Who's in for the raffle? EDIT: I'm adding one more requirement to be eligible for the raffle: you should write a few words on why you should be the one winning these tickets. (The tickets will be personal, so only the raffle winners and their companion will be able to use them. Only enter if you will go personally!)
  21. I'm looking forward to it! Made a bit of extra promo on our frontpage
  22. If you don't have plans for the weekend and live near Belgium I can recommend you to go to Brickmania on Saturday or Sunday. I'll be there myself with my son and Captain Green Hair on Sunday afternoon. Discussion topic is here.
  23. Interesting topic! You raise a few points that are worth some more thought. I'm looking forward reading all the feedback (and the poll results), so please be completely open and honest. I would be happy to explain a bit more about EB (ownership, how decisions are reached in the staff, etc.), but I'll do that in a few days and first let the members speak.
  24. Brickshelf is down for maintenance.
  25. Let's go for the summer skin before summer is completely over
