I used to own 8043 and really liked it. I did find the shovel was quite a weak point so I replaced this with a grabber claw.

Building MOCs like official sets
Paul B Technic replied to GregoryBrick's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Different people like different things and as such the two different "styles" you asked about are used. Some people even build both ways. I think it is more about building a MOC which YOU like, what style it is and if somebody else likes it should only be a secondary consideration :) -
Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!
Paul B Technic replied to Darth_Legois's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I was hoping the Technic sets would be out before April :( -
I think that if the Technic forum was split off in to more sub sections it would make keeping track of topics much harder, I much prefer having a page or more of topics to check then having to check a number of sub sections. I don't have an issue with the number of new posts and topics, much better then having a forum which is almost dead which is the case with some other forums and websites I am a member of.

Technic Black Parts
Paul B Technic replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I don't have a huge parts collection so I have to use what I have and in most cases this means using more black pieces then what I would normally like to. For areas like the chassis I think they can work well. -
REFERENCE Dusting Lego displays and layouts
Paul B Technic replied to SirNadroj's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I have some old Technic sets from the 1980's and 1990's which I need to clean up, I will keep an eye on this thread for ideas. -
Update: 17/12/2013 - V3 After some more research and feedback I have made some more changes to this model, this brings us up to version 3. These changes include: - Adding some more pieces to the lifting arm to make this stronger and attached more securely to the body. - Changed the panels on the side to ones without stickers to allow me to add a sticker showing the two options with the side switch. - Changed the top lid section to now be made from solid panels. This has also meant I have been able to attach the back tail gate in the middle which also makes this stronger. - Some minor cosmetic changes to the warning lights and the control knob at the back.

Well it seems that my shelves are not working out like I hoped so I am now looking for a cupboard to store my sets in. Has anybody tried something like this and have any feedback on them? http://www.fantasticfurniture.com.au/Products/Kids//p/BETUTI2DROOOFOIBEE

9395 Tow Truck
Paul B Technic replied to Tadej's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I am quite a fan of this set and will be purchasing another copy or two soon just to add to my parts collection. I have also designed and build a MOD for the B model (Wheelie bin truck) which can be found on my blog. I have built both models multiple times and find both to be worth the time to build, I personally prefer the B model. -
You have done an amazing job with this, I was wondering the other day if anybody had done a mod like this.

I had never really thought of building a gun out of LEGO, I might have to give it a try :) -
