This is my latest attachment for LEGO Technic set 8848. Today I pulled apart the bucket which comes with it and built this attachment which is a mower. This mounts to the front and is raised and lowered by the lever inside the cabin. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is my latest attachment for LEGO Technic set 8848. Today I pulled apart the bucket which comes with it and made some changes to this to allow it to work better. It can now be raised and lowered with a load inside it, it does not need to be manually tilted like the original bucket does. This mounts to the front and is raised and lowered by the lever inside the cabin. Video - https://tangerstechnicblog.blogspot.com/2023/05/lego-technic-8848-attachment-loader.html

LEGO Technic set 8848 comes with instructions to build some different attachments which mount to the front of this set. Last night I pulled apart the bucket which comes with it and built this attachment which is a dozer blade. LEGO Technic set 8848 was released in 1981 (The year before I was born) and was one of the early Technic sets to combine both the looks of a real life vehicle and also include semi-realistic features. - Rack and pinion steering. This is controlled via a wheel under the cabin roof. - Front scoop which lift and locks via a lever inside the cabin. - Rear bed which dumps via a lever inside the cabin. - Rear differential with PTO. This set is built using the original studded brick based building techniques. It has some detail such as headlights but due to the levers inside the cabin to control the two features, it does not feature any cabin details such as a steering wheel or seats. Compared to building a more modern studless set, this has a lot more parts per step and in some steps, it takes time and a keen eye to work out where the parts actually go. I found that I needed to get the parts for each step out and then work out where they fit, in some of the later steps you can only see a small portion of the part in it's correct location. The building guide also has the instructions to build a B model of a car, a dozer blade, a plough plus how you can add a motor or use the parts from other sets to build some different attachments. Overall I found this a very enjoyable building experience, getting back to studded building requires a different mindset and as this set was released well before I got in to Technic in the late 1980's, it was all new and exciting to me. I would rate this 9/10, the lack of some details and the strange position of the steering control knocks it down a bit. https://tangerstechnicblog.blogspot.com/2023/05/lego-technic-8848-mini-review.html

I have recently started making some changes to LEGO Technic set 42147. I have removed the tipper body and have modified this to make it easy to remove this and swap it over to different attachments. My first attachment is a aerial bucket attachment. These are used for both power line work and also to allowing the trimming of trees. This attachment swings around and also has a knob which is used to raise and lower the arm and bucket. Overall I am very happy with how this has turned out, for the small number of parts used and the hour I spent building this, it works well. https://tangerstechnicblog.blogspot.com/2023/04/lego-technic-42147-mod-aerial-bucket.html

Well done, this is amazing. -
I have recently designed and built a MOC, using the parts from LEGO Technic set 42147, this is a farm tractor with dozer blade This features: HOG steering via the front exhaust pipe Rear mounted dozer blade which is locked in the raised position by a small bracket at the rear of the cabin. It the same size and scale as the 42147 A model. More Photos: https://tangerstechnicblog.blogspot.com/2023/04/lego-technic-42147-moc-farm-tractor.html
