I mean that gold sets and characters in general are well liked. Laval being there as the main hero since the beginning (instead of the cliched red leader) only reinforces the point. So if they want to make a Takanuva set, they will, and they have many good reasons to do that. And watch him having a lot more gold than 2003 this time.

Yup, Llyod...and Laval, and Rocka of course. Remember that Lego's main goal is selling toys, and their constant use of gold in lines like Chima, Ninjago and HF itself shows that kids really do dig gold (pun not intended, but I had to keep it, sorry). It's one thing to bring entire teams of characters back (as much as I'd like to see some of them again..), but Takanuva is just one character who can nicely fill a large set slot (hopefully along something cooler than the Ussanui).

I wanted to give Tahu yellow eyes at first, but then I saw they and Pohatu's bones were lime... so I'm keeping the blue eyes because they're the closest thing to his original pink-ish eyes. I hope we get the eye stalks in more colours, at least in bright green.... we never got the Breakout Brain Attack head in tr. reddish orange! EDIT: I meant "Brain Attack head" of course... *facepalm*

10 euro for the battlepacks sounds fair to me. Too bad there isn't one for the Eagles... I'd buy 2-3 for sure! Edit: wait, there are 3 characters per set, not 5. Well, it's still 3 Euro per minifig+a small building, which is..decent I guess. If they amp it up to 13, though, that'd be too much.

I once read that the Inika, while they sold well, were criticized for their masks and so Lego decided to go back to regular masks for the Mahri. Might've been wrong info though. (I still think they were great sets, but oh god the Suletu was terrifying)

I don't think we're ever getting something like the Hordika again, IIRC they were a big fiasco. They tried to do something similar with the Inika masks, then, if I had to guess, they realized kids don't want deformed heroes so they went back to regular masks with the Mahri and onwards. That's what I'm thinking. If it were a real spider (a unique one or a special breed) it'd have legs, so it's either 1) a special artifact (why is it shaped like a SkSp, then?), 2) a shapshifted MoCr/MoCo or 3) just a cool thing they decided to throw in (Toa and good guy sets in general are always more attractive to kids, to they had to include some incentive to make the LoSS set more appealing). For what it's worth, the set description of LoSS doesn't mention the gold "spider".If it has no significance, I'll probably use it as a special "leader" breed of SkS.

Var @ TTV in the Tahu review comment section said that the green spiders WERE meant to be GITD but it cost too much, hence the odd use of Spring Yellowish Green (hopefully I got the name right, can't double check right now). That does remind me of the Inika heads. Promo polybags are produced in limited quantities so they might manage to make GITD Spiders in the future. Yup, I want to make some mutated zombies too. Zombie Toa, Matoran, Rahi.. Yesss.

I think it's more due to the fact that black and red is a popular combo for villains. I don't think Makuta is LoSS, if that's what is being implied. I read that LoSS and the SS are a creation of Makuta's dreams, but according to someone that's just a made up rumour. And technically LoSS is black and transparent (reddish) orange. : P

Certainly the MoUP did its part, but I'm sure Makuta is still going to take the reins of main villain for a while, otherwise they wouldn't have decided to reuse such an iconic name. And his corrupted form? Clearly a callback to G1 Makuta's 2003 set, and a good design for future big villain set.

I'm still pushing for the MoUP to be the real villain. It would be a great plot twist and something BIONICLE never did before. Not saying Makuta isn't a villain.. But I think the MoUP played a role in his descent to evil.

Yeah, silver does suit him very well. I guess that I'm ok with both- since the printed torso is gold, I said to myself getting used to it was the best thing to do and so I started to work the gold into my head canon (which is G1 with a lot of stuff changed, I might take something from G2 too if I like it).As for Taka, I really wouldn't like keetorange on him (mostly because I think it looks awful when coupled with white), tr. yellow seems like the best choice for a secondary colour but I get the idea Lego hates that colour. Tr. clear would be cool too but it's probably not very eye catching for marketing purposes. Has that ever happened? Winter waves always come out after Xmas holidays in Italy (around January 9th), they show up on S@H around December 26th but they arrive more than a week later, making the preorder moot. Not sure how it goes in other countries. whatthef***mansloth.png

This discussion on plots and story arcs got me wondering if some of the scrapped plot points of G1 are ever going to be reused in G2. I mean both stuff they wanted to do in 2001-2009 but that developed in different ways (like Makuta wanting to destroy everything after his defeat in MoL) AND what was planned for 2010 and beyond (Element Lords, dinosaurs, etc). The 3 years that are planned don't seem to leave room for these concepts (since it's going to be all about the Mask Trio), and the story team for G2 is made of all new people (aside from Faber's and Greg's consultancy), but if they decide to extend the line maybe they're going to consider taking inspiration from those scrapped concepts? It could work not just from a story standpoint: I think dinosaurs and elemental gods would sell pretty well... I think that, by the time Takanuva shows up (I would be very surprised if he didn't,given how much they pushed Rocka), the Gold Masks plot point is going to be surpassed in favor of the obligatory yearly "must sell toys" upgrade, and so the Toa might not feature gold armour and Masks anymore (just like the Gold Masks in G1 were turned into Kanohi Nuva in normal colours).Personally, I don't mind the gold on Kopaka. Blue (both the bones and the chest print) and gold do really look beautiful together IMO. It clashes with his element, yes, and silver armour would look great on him. I guess I'm more relaxed about his gold due to the major changes my head canon brings to the Toa elements. For the same head canon reasons, though, I rather have Onua wear fully silver armour even though gold doesn't look so bad. And agreed, yellow is way better. Imagine if the Protectors' miniguns were red like the Cordak blasters...ugh. Indeed, that is what matters. IMO adding or changing a few powers inside your head canon isn't going to to hurt the plot (a fight can go in a slightly different way but keep its outcome unchanged, ie the Toa defeats the villain or vice-versa).Yup, AFAIC Lewa's still the Toa of Air (the confusing thing is, the Jungle Protector is described as fighting with a Air Element bow or something similar..) and the Toa wear masks with specific abilities. And, way off topic and probably way old, but way too good to not post as well.

Lewa's element is confirmed as Jungle and the Toa don't have mask powers aside from their elements? ...yeah, I like the premise and I think I will enjoy the shorts (love the art style), but I think I'll follow my head canon for certain things.

I can finally say it, I like this new part a lot. It feels like they really learned their lesson this time: it's not a piece that feels specifically designed for a play function and that can be reused for little else (which was a huge problem in G1). It has a generic shape, comes in a neutral colour and features lots of connection points (it's like a Technic piece!). And, most importantly, it finally gives a much needed spin to CCBS, which admittedly was starting to get a little stale (I'm saying this as a big fan of the system): just look at how big and complex the Toa torsos are compared to the classic "torso bone+shell" most HF sets used. I was really against functions on the Toa at first ( still am a bit,*), but now I can't wait to play around with the gearbox. I'm already thinking up a lot of things to do with it. * = they're nowhere the aesthetic trainwreck I was fearing, but the back and the yellow gears still looks kind of awkward to me. That is a good idea I'm starting to like. It'd make for a nice plot twist, and grant buyers instant roleplay instead of having to wait for summer to get the MoCr in its real form (check this post as it explains the issue well). Also, found this edit. I get that the gold armour likely ties into the Gold Masks subplot and sets the bigger Toa apart from the other 3, but I personally like him a lot better this way. I'm willing to tolerate the gold on Tahu because it matches his element nicely (*), as for Kopaka... head canon reasons. :P * = I see it as a colour Fire characters can feature on their armour, it's close enough to yellow and set!Lhikan and Jaller Inika used it.

Hmmm, thanks for the replies. I think I like both interpretations. It certainly gives him that wild, jungley look. Also, I got the idea those big spikes kinda look like wings or feathers, which fits with his Adrenaline Mode look (which I like a lot, I always likened Lewa to a bird). I'm still angry we never got Toa Ahkmou. He would've probably been orange (because of the "we must replace brown with something else" policy), but it was such a cool idea that made so much sense.I agree: the plan is for 3 years, and the legendary masks (MoCr, MoCo and MoUP) are 3. If the new sets sell well enough, though, the MoCo and MoUP arcs might be extended. The MoUP, however, sounds very much like endgame stuff (like Mata Nui's awakening was for G1), so, depending on how much they want to extend the story, I think we're going to get some filler between the MoCo and the MoUP. And speaking of the MoUP, I know some think "Ultimate Power" sounds kind of cheesy, and I kind of agree, but my theory is that it's supposed to be a politically correct substitute for "Godhood" or something similar.

^ That is present in all Protectors' descriptions, the irony is that two of them lack elbow articulation. And, what is the general consensus about the Beast claws on Lewa's shoulders? I get that they're supposed to be pieces of armour (since they're silver like the other add-ons he's wearing), but they look weird to me. I mean, it's a unique look but I don't get what the designers were going for, and that's probably the reason I'm still not sure if I like them or not.

I'm not DV, but it seems to me (and so the puns and rhymes continue) that you're supposed to push the yellow button (yellow=function in recent years). He's Hewkii brown (Dark Orange).

Front said that the NYCC masks are prototypes though, and the connection is a lot tighter in the final sets. Not that happy about the wobbling eyepiece, but gotta keep the playability factor up I guess.

Thanks a lot!1)Yeah, I meant that colour. I think it will look ok on Lewa (duh) and Gali, not sure about Pohatu and Onua. And brown, silver and lime is going to look very awkward..I really don't get how they got that combination from. Tr. blue (like the brown Metru Nui sets), tr. light blue or tr. reddish orange (Pohatu's classical eye colour) would've looked better at this point. 2)SWEET! I know some are going to be upset, but as of now there are no CCBS parts in Dark Green (I meant that one but got mixed up, sorry- I always think of Metru Green as Dark Green, but I know that's incorrect), while we already have a decent number of Bright Green elements (the ones from Green Lantern on course, but don't forget Joker's Breakout torso). I'd say this is the best deal we could get. Now, off to regret I never bought Green Lantern. 3)Ah, ok. I would've liked Medium Azure more but this is cool too- we never had Medium Azure shells or Dark Azure bones so there is no overlapping (this way, no parts end up useless, which was the risk with Bright Green). And metallic blue on Kopaka's chest? Nice. I figured as much, but it's still weird to me that they went their way to recolour Lewa's axes and Kopaka's blades (that creates some variety I guess). Glad the other parts are silver, that will work prefectly with the mods I'm planning for the Toa. Rant on Turaga below: > 4 years after the reunification of Spherus Magna> Not accepting Mask Maker Ekimu as your saviour Jokes aside, this is pretty much my viewpoint on the debate. But I also agree with Quisoves Pugnat, some stickers sheet are a nightmare to apply. It took me almost half an hour to apply Stormer XL's stickers, no kidding.

I don't see why you guys want two pieces in never seen before colours to be printed, hence massively limiting their reusability. I swear I don't get the massive hate stickers get...

Just saw your post Aanchir! That album is HUGE and it might make half of the post I was writing moot, so I guess I'll keep it in spoiler tags. First off, your Toa looks really cool! I'd love if you could clarify the more ambiguous colours: 1)Can you confirm that the Toa eyes and Pohatu's bones are Tr. Yellowish Green (or was it Greenish Yellow )? 2)Is Lewa Medium Green or Bright Green? And is his secondary colour classic yellow or "Keetorange"? 3)Is Gali Medium Azure or Dark Azure? Thanks in advance for your answers. Nice, thanks! So only Pohatu's boomerangs are gunmetal while all the other grey weapons are silver? All the silver parts look so dark on Aanchir's Toa, guess it's the lightning.

I took another look at the Toa group shot, and Onua's weapons definitely look silver. DV, did you get those pieces in titanium metallic only? It's a bit odd that you got them in another colour but not in the one they appear in sets. I think I'd prefer silver but titanium metallic is ok too.

So from DV's pics, I can say that: 1)The new Hau and the Akaku are close to the original ones in size, but the new Pakari is pretty tiny. Then again the 2001 Pakari WAS pretty tall. 2)Onua's weapons are titanium metallic, not silver. So there's more variety than I thought: silver (Gali, Tahu, Lewa, Kopaka), titanium metallic (Onua, Pohatu, Lewa), gold (Tahu) and white (Kopaka). Reminds me of the Inika weapons which is, yes, a very good thing. 3)The fire/ice blade is freaking HUGE. Man I missed oversized weapons!
