Those would look great on Tahu..or on a LOSS revamp. Maybe we're getting them in a Summer villain? I like Jaller Inika's Tr. Orange a lot more, but since they intend on keeping using Tr. Reddish Orange for constraction, gotta make the best of it. Oh, and BTW, awesome OMOC (Official MOC ). I still think the IfB Beasts heads are some of the best constraction "monster" heads we've ever gotten. Gotta love the absurd amount of eyes.

Your post probably got buried under the hundreds of pages, maybe during a heated discussion on some other topic. Say, while everyone is talking about topic X, "Lewa" comes out and makes a valid observation about topic Y.. but everyone else is more interested about X, so they don't pay attention to Lewa. Happens to me as well- it's annoying I guess, but there's not much one can do. Why would you want a new gold shade? That'd destroy the MOCability of the masks. Besides, the Protectors don't have a lick of gold in their colour schemes- only the 3 larger Toa feature gold pieces on their body. Ekimu and Makuta are going to stand out a lot next to the average Protector, even when using a "old" shade .Agreed on the vehicles, though- I'm not opposed to them in general (a steampunk style could probably be worked into the style of Okoto), but I'd prefer living beings for now. I wouldn't mind "Rahi" I guess, just not on a set like this. Keep it simple, make a 20 Euro set with two cool figures (TRANS PURPLE SHELLS AND EYES) wearing plot relevant masks: it will sell like hotcakes. This is what I'm thinking, E+M set to introduce the MoCr and the MoCo in plastic form, then a big corrupted!Makuta (either wearing a corrupted MoCo or the MoUP) in summer 2015 or in 2016 so the main villain gets a toy form (instead of waiting 3 years like in G1!).

The least LEGO-like line?
Shakar replied to Transparency for Effect's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Galidor did have peg connections, so I'm going to count it out in favor of Clickits. Pieces not compatible with normal Lego? Check. Colours that were introduced for no reason and never made it outside the theme? Double check. Has to be Clickits for me. -
I was about to say that it's the Chima armour myself, but then I saw the shapes are a bit different (curved vs straight) and the brothers' armour piece has a vertical line running through. It's probably just stylization, though. Anyway, as someone theorized a while ago, the brothers could be packed in the same set. "The Legend of Bionicle"? "Ekimu and Makuta"? "Ekimu vs Makuta"? Something to that effect. They're Protector sets minus the miniguns and the Spiders plus a more complex build, so they could be sold as a 20 Euro set, 25 tops if Lego wants to capitalize on the "special edition" effect (which Lego is sometimes guilty of doing). One might argue that releasing 2/3 of the legendary mask trio in a single set might cheapen them, but if the Mask of Control is the focus of the 2016 story an updated, "corrupted" version of the mask can be released with a evil!Makuta set. So one can have the "pure" version of the MoCo as a collector's item and its (in-story) current corrupted version worn by the main villain. Thanks! Well, I'm not sure if there are going to be Protectors combo models or not. We're not even sure if there are going to be combos between the Toa. I hope there are myself- I always appreciate combo models no matter what, they challenge you to come up with new designs.Yeah, I'd love new Ultrabuilds too, but given what happened with the last ones (cancelled in one of Lego's biggest markets) I'm not sure if there are going to be more of them. Still, I'm not sure of what to think. I used to think they'd cut other constraction lines to go all out with BIONICLE, but if the 5 sets info is correct (and it most likely is) it might be they're keeping some set slots free for non-BIONICLE constraction sets. If anything, Ultrabuilds for Age of Ultron sound more likely, but apparently the 2012 sets were a fiasco.. so without more info I'm not sure what to say really.

I was looking at the Legend of Ekimu and Makuta video for the nth time, and I realized that the two brothers are really easy to make into sets. I'm not talking about them being a case of "let's build them out of Lego pieces so they fit the animation style" like some of the non-set creatures they came up with in the BIONICLE movies and HF episodes, I mean they look like renders of existing sets. Their recolours and parts inventories are something sensible you'd see on a set (for example, their transparent shells are all 3M size), and there are some designs you'd came up with only if you actually built the models IRL (the hammers, especially Makuta's which uses these spikes). And the recolours aren't that many- actually, they're only the tr. purple pieces from Makuta (3M shells, the hammer head/gatling gun from the Superhero Ultrabuilds and the new brain/eye piece). As for new parts, there are the two masks (duh) and the shoulder armour. And it's funny, I wanted to bring this up this morning (when everyone was still talking about the Vahi), but Agent Fusion noticed something that fits this post like a glove: GREAT EYE! Could it be that Ekimu and Makuta are slightly bigger Protectors with a gearbox build? Like (set-wise) Protector/Master hybrids. The mechanism does go nicely with their hammers, and this way kids can replicate Ekimu's mask knocking off attack. My point is, I'm not the first to point out this but we might be looking at a "Voltix" case here- Summer sets getting spoiled via animated videos, months before we find actual pictures of the sets themselves.

Perfect, thanks a lot! That makes the new part even more useful, especially for shoulder and lower leg armouring. I had already thought about some uses for that design, but I wasn't sure if it was actually feasible.

For anyone who owns samples of the new parts: can the new armour add-on (you know, the one the Protectors use on their torsos and the Toa use as body armouring) fit over the shoulder shell? The Breakout bubble armour can (like on Black Phantom), the Cap America boot can't, I can't tell which is the case here.

Well yes, and it's odd that they refer to Tahu's mask and not Tahu himself. It's as if that character was meant to steal the mask.. but why would an obviously evil character turn into a "Super" Toa when donning the mask? This concept is just really, really weird- if has been dropped, it's a pity because I liked those two guys a lot. In any case, I have no idea how to explain it.

Yeah, it has to be "Elemental Being". And it's probably just a Protector concept given the combination element. Still, I'm puzzled at how unmistakably evil that face looks. Probably a dropped concept (Element Lords?). Aw, got my hopes up for nothing. Those two would've been amazing villains.

Bottom left and top left.. holy crap those look awesome. The latter reminds me of Matoro's Iden. Summer villains? And top and bottom middle.. is that a ... Vahi over a Hau?! Sure looks like one. There are a lot of really cool concepts here, thanks for sharing. I wonder if some are going to work their way into future sets, they don't look like they refer to the Toa or the Protectors. And those names, man. "Super Tahu"? "__tal Being"? What's that?

Gold, silver and white. 3 colours for a part in its debut wave isn't bad, but I hope we get it in more colours. I could really use it in black, titanium metallic and the like.As for Onua, his set doesn't quite fit how I see his character, but who cares- the model itself is great! I thought he looked too squat in the first images we got, but he's actually reasonably bulky and well proportioned. I can't wait to play with his parts and his build. I think my favourite part of the set are the shoulders (so massive, versatile and detailed), my I hope we get that piece in more colours because I love it. I like the piece as well, it's a nice callback to the classic heads minus the awkward lips. I'm surprised it is silver, though- I think dark bley would've looked more generic and matched the gearbox and the other structural elements (like the friction joints). It still looks cool, though, so I can't complain much. I wonder if they'll release it in more colours like the classic Mata head- I always thought it was a nice thing that made characters outside the Mata/Nuva team more unique.

I am pretty sure I read my posts 2-3 times- I always do. I meant that no new lime bone sizes have been made after 2012- they just reused the ones Toxic Reapa introduced. I thought the original sentence I wrote was clear about that, but apparently it was ambiguous. As you can see, I had no problem explaining my point calmly, so I would really like if you dropped that snarky tone please. And please do not use terms like "whining" and "complaining", Veyronian and I are simply discussing an issue we have with CCBS. Yup, those seem like good sizes to me. And yeah, I'd REALLY like if the Breakout torso came back. It just fits so nicely with the style of G2, yet Lego dropped that piece entirely after 2012. The 2.0 torso shell is ok as armour plating, but it looks too generic on the Toa.Fully agreed. The colours we have are good, we just need more pieces in those colours. Bones and shells should be for Constraction what bricks are for System.

My post was about colours, but still, I agree. The Toa already look way different than any Hero. I disagree on the shells though- really, that'd be like replacing the classic System bricks. They're supposed to be generic, modular, and available in lots of colours. Unless you mean adding new shells to the roster, that I can agree with. Good point, I guess that olive green shells would give the character a militaristic look Lego (or rather, the moral watchdogs) wouldn't be ok with. It fits the Jungle theme well, though- maybe they can still exist as bones? I'd be be ok just with one more (longer) size.My guess is that they're experimenting with lots of colours to see what sticks. But while Lego is about constant evolution and innovation, CCBS is ending its fourth year so I'd say it is time to estabilish some key elements, like the colour palette. And I hope we get at least 3 shells in Earth Blue, but I'm not getting my hopes up. But they weren't new recolours. Read my post again (especially the dark red example) and you'll see. Oooooooooh snap.

I mean that no new parts have been introduced- those are the same 5M shells and torso shells we got with Pyrox and Worriz. It's the issue I've been discussing earlier, one of the biggest issues with CCBS actually: new colours get introduced, 2-3 parts in that colour are made, and that's it. Olive Green is a glaring example, but there's also tr. yellow, Toxic Reapa's lime green bones, Fire Lord's orange bones (in a SINGLE size, and one with limited use at that) and torso and many other examples. I'd argue they're making the same mistake they did with sets in general until they dramatically reduced the colour palette in (IIRC) 2007, cutting out a lot of useless colours. I'm not sure how long they can keep this up, I'm no expert but it doesn't seem like a good strategy to me.

Yup, 2006-2010 was a mess for Stone characters. I was ok with keetorange actually, especially when coupled with dark colours (Hewkii Inika rocked it). But still, the inconsitency was annoying. I hope we settle on Dark Orange for at least a few years. Same for Bright Green for the Jungle characters and Dark Azure for the Water characters. They're vibrant, fun colours- not too bright, not too dark. Actually, I wanted to lsit dark (earth) green at first but I remembered 2014!Cragger includes 4M shells (as opposed to the 3M shells from Ogrum). On the other hand, dark red was abandoned after Worriz (2013). And earth blue... ..yeah. It's my favourite Metru shade, always been, it's annoying they never used it after 2010. I hope the blue Skull Spider variant is a sign of things to come. Indeed, let's hope summer brings something..

I agree, I never liked brown sets very much, I bought them for completition sake, and it got even worse during the Metru era, that light brown was... Still, I admit Avak did look really good coupling dark brown with dark tan and gunmetal. But Hewkii's dark orange has always been my favourite brownish shade (I guess its rarity did play a role, IMO it's also a big reason purple loved so much), so I'm really happy to see its return. Still, I can see where TheOneVeyronian is coming from. In fact, I was almost sure that Pohatu, before we got the coloured display image, was going to be reddish brown given its sudden return in Chima. It's true, there are too many colours in CCBS that have been abandoned: Reddish Brown, Tr. Yellow, Medium Azure (that's easy to forget, but the IfB Beasts used the same parts from Thornraxx, only the longer jaw piece from Splitter Beast was a all-new recolour), Olive Green, Dark Red, orange (the last new orange piece we got was the 5M shell in 2012! Again, save from the jaw piece in SP), etcetera. Some colours do make a comeback (Onua is introducing the first new lilac shell size since 2012 and the Jungle sets are reusing bright green and keeotorange), but still, the fragmentation is getting a bit ridiculous. Now Gali and Water P. are introducing Dark Azure in constraction despite the fact Medium Azure would've looked fine as well, and so I'm worried: sure, it's a very pretty colour (closer to Kongu's teal than Medium Azure is, actually), but is it going to stick around as the primary colour for Water characters or is it going to be abandoned? I'd like it the two azures stayed around while "Mata blue" disappeared for a while (I admit, I'd love if it were replaced by the Metru blue the Skull Spiders brought back.. I miss Metru blue so much ), but we'll see on that. And only marginally related to the topic, but HOLY CRAP that Age of Ultron trailer. Now I REALLY wish for a new Ultrabuild wave as unlikely it might or not be. Ultron and the Avengers as mid size sets + a new Hulk (in bright green this time) and the Hulkbuster as large sets? Oh man I'd love that.

And so Pohatu looks very cool as well. Not my fav (but it's ok, I've never been a big fan of Stone characters), but he wins over the other brown sets (which I always found to be pretty dull, both for colours and weapons) due to the use of that beautiful Hewkii brown (come on, back in G1 nearly everyone wanted some pieces in that colour! And, either way, it's the perfect compromise between classic brown and orange) and, of course, those crazy awesome, ahem, Stormarangs. And mind you, he's not high on my list but I still like him a lot, because I find all 6 Toa to be top notch. His biggest problem is his design, it's not bad, but it's true that he's the Average Joe of the 6. It's a pity because Lewa and Gali have unique shoulder armour designs, and, given Pohatu's stupid low parts count, he could've used some shells to fill him up a bit. Also, I don't really get the assymetrical arms idea. As for the colour scheme, while I'm ok with the silver (it does look like stone) I'm still not hooked on the tr. neon green. Lastly, not really a complain but I have to note that it's weird for a dual wielding set to have one arm locked. Yup, I'm definitely in the second group. I just want to create real life representations of characters (be they part of BIONICLE's lore or OCs of mine), and I find the CCBS the best system to create models that represent "living" characters, far more so than the overly mechanical Technic. This is why I generally don't like functions- they're a reminder that the model is, well, just a toy. What I like to do is creating the illusion that I have living characters in front of me, that I'm giving them a physical presence, if you get what I mean. I'm not doing it out of loneliness It's like writing or drawing: the difference is that you're not using words or lines to give life to the character, but small pieces of plastic instead. So LoSS is just that to me- a toy. When I see he has a lever on his back and blocky mechanical legs, I can't help but view him as anything but one. And, as I said above, I don't like using Technic very much so I'm not interested in all the beams he comes with. This is what I mean by "wasting 15 Euro in pieces I don't need" (was that the actual quote? I don't have time to pick it up now). Even though the piece-to-parts ratio is amazing, I don't want most of those pieces. Sorry if that sounded a bit too whimsical, I guess I kind of got carried away , but this is how I view MOCing.

Not sure on many Protectors I'll buy (the 6 Toa are a given). They grew on me a lot (they look so cute in the cartoon!), the same mask issue doesn't bother me that much anymore (I guess it's due to how cool the two tone effect looks) and they're just cute fun guys overall. I feel 10 euro is too much for sets I'm not that interested in (I'm paying full price for the Toa because I love them), so I'll buy one or two when the sets come out then I'll wait for a discount over Amazon. LoSS is still a big no, I just can't bring myself to be interested in the set.. I just want the gold Spider and the printed chest so I'll buy those pieces online. No need to waste 15 Euro in a bunch of pieces I don't need. I dunno, maybe I'll try to revamp him if I like the character.

Indeed you're right, I'll blame that on my forgetfulness and on how inaccurate some colours are in LDD. I just tried out Sand Yellow and yeah, it does look more accurate (and I think I like it even more, a great contrast to the vibrant Dark Orange), but that Brick Yellow looks a bit too dark to me compared to IRL tan.Onto Kopaka: another favourite of mine, like in 2001. Very powerful and imposing looking- arguably too bulky for how I see his character, but the set on its own is excellent. A great first impression, but there are a few things I don't like: 1)The legs, still too thick 2)The SP paws as shoulder pads: IMO they do not fit the aesthetic of the Toa. I would've liked something like Tahu's and Gali's design more. 3)The weapons: a)the weapons themselves: yes, I get they wanted to give him something for the Adrenaline mode (honestly? Back in 2002 I played with the Nuva "vehicle modes" once or twice save for Tahu's sweet lavaboard..but that's beside the point), but Kopaka really needs an actual shield (I see the spear as less problematic, I guess it fits his knight image). b)the colour of the weapons: something that drives me crazy: they're white like him, while the spear tip is silver. Not only it looks wrong (weapons being the same colour of the wielder is something I tolerate on the Mata only, because they're iconic in their simplicity, otherwise it makes no sense),it's a wasted recolour slot that could've been used for his torso. Oh, and I like that in the Lewa review the two Toa of Jungle Air were best buddies, while the two Kopaka just.. coldly stare eachother. Eh, the general shape..maybe..kinda. It still looks very much like a Miru to me (it still has the smile, its most iconic feature), just with 3 odd..things on it and some new texturing. I see it more as a fusion of the 01 Miru and the Calix (which prompted me to build some odd headcanon, but I digress).

Yeah.. I really don't get it. It looks yellow in the official renders and it's apparently supposed to represent sand (tan, yellow.. close enough. Lime, not so much). Mind you, I'm happy we finally got transparent bones in a green shade (though I still hope we get for tr. bright green someday), but I really wanted to see a return of tr. yellow. And the biggest problem is, we got stuck once again with crappy lime eyes (yes, I know, tr. neon green eyes glow.. but I'm sick of them). Well, mine are very very generic (showing him off for those who are curious how the dark tan looks): The build is completely wrong, it's just a generic sandbox so I can try out different colour combinations. I was unsure about Pohatu, I wanted to try titanium metallic at first but that's Gali's territory (I wanted to avoid what happened with Hewkii and Nuparu in 2007...), so I decided to reduce silver as much as possible. I think this is what I'm going to go with, dark orange and dark tan look great together and the silver compliments them nicely as an additional layer of armour.

So I'm not the only one. And speaking of pepper, his pose reminds me of someone.. So, I built dummies (they all use the same exact design and they're way inaccurate) of the Toa on LDD so I can mess around with their colour schemes/organization and armour placement. I tried replacing Pohatu's tr. lime bones with black ones (*) and giving him dark tan shells from Vardy, and he looks great! Right now I have THREE different colour schemes in mind for Pohatu, this one is the most faithful to the original set (Okotohatu, not Mata Hatu). I guess I need to try them IRL before judging. Shame about the Brain Attack torso shell, it still looks kind of girly to me, but it's still better than the visual borefest that is the 2.0 shell (I swear they NEED to come up with a new torso shell, or reuse the one from Breakout). And still speaking of Pohatu, it's pretty weird that he has lime eyes while Stone P. has blue eyes. IIRC the other Toa+Protector element couples have matching eyes. * = they're cool pieces and I'm really eager to play with them, but 1 I still don't see Pohatu with that colour and 2 I would've ended up with too many colours

Yup, Tahu is pretty tall, I'm pretty sure he's the tallest one actually. Not sure if I like that, ideally I see all 6 Mata around the same height but if I had to choose who is the tallest one it'd probably be Kopaka. Anyway, I think Tahu and Kopaka are only slightly shorter than a Inika. Gali and Lewa are slightly taller than a Toa Metru (they're as tall as mid size 2012 HF sets, ie Splitface), while Onua and Pohatu are between a Nuva and a Metru.

I think making separate videos for each protector would end up being kind of repetitive and boring. I'd say review them all in one (slightly longer I guess) video, so you can talk about the general things (the masks, the minigun, the general build) and then focus on the individual sets and their unique features. And a question on colours: are the heads silver or gunmetal? Same for the Sk. Spiders legs, I can't tell.

Finally watched the Lewa review and my, he looks beautiful. I love Lewa Phantoka, he and Lewa Mata have been standing on my desk for about a month now, but this one is pretty much 01 Lewa, my favourite Toa set of all time, so I'll let you guess how much I like this set. Really can't wait to get him, I want to make some mods here and there but the set is awesome already (and as I said before, modding a set is a sign of love for me!). Oh, and I do really like this and the other chest designs, it's a bit odd that they're assymetrical but I like how they looks like war paint, as if they were elite warriors from an ancient mysterious tribe. And the Miru Mask of Jungle aw forget it, it's still the Miru for me- looks gorgeous, I mean wow. And here's the post I was writing before, I'll put it in spoiler tags because it's too disjointed from the rest of the post:

We got a few Apple Green (Bright Green officially) pieces in 2012, mostly from Green Lantern (2.0 feet, Superhero chest piece wtih the GL logo printed on it, Savage Planet trapezoid paw shells and shoulder armour pentagonal shells) but from Joker too (the Breakout torso, a piece Lego seems to have forgotten..). I already knew the Jungle sets were bright green since I had asked Aanchir after NYCC, I'm really happy they went down that route because we already ahve a handful of CCBS pieces in that colour, while we have nothing in Mata Green.Flame Orange is simply Keetorange, so we have a lot of pieces. In CCBS, though, all we got were the pieces from Jetbug and Stringer 3.0, plus 8M shells in Lavertus's Outpost from Chima. Jungle Protector introduces the second shortest lower limb bones in Keetorange too. Will edit with my thoughts on Lewa here or in another post I was writing before the video came out.
